I would hope they'd donate it or something, but no mention of it. I let 3 people use my prom dress and then I ended up donating into a local charity that accepts prom dresses for the underprivileged and it was such a good feeling to have. If this was me in high school, my mom would make me wear that dress the following year, no doubt. lollmmomSD wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 5:55 pmMy ex-husband was in the Navy, and I was largely pregnant for one of his squadron functions. I found a really pretty maternity dress that made me feel beautiful and didn't look like it was made by a tent-maker. At least 4 other wives wore it over the course of the next few years, because formal maternity dresses are incredibly expensive! We joked about it being the official squadron maternity formal dress. And it made me feel good that the other wives liked it and felt pretty in it too.Kattiness Everdeen wrote:Yes! All my dresses came from a clearance rack; a friend of mine held the record with a Winter Ball dress for $18. We had a lot more going on in our lives than these sheltered kids though. Prom wasn't the highlight of our teen years by a long shot. To them it is probably like a wedding dress, once it has been seen, it is worthless!YouTubeIdiots101 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 12:24 pm I understand they are wealthy but does it blow anyone else's mind that these YouTubers who aren't seniors are not planning on wearing their prom dress next year? I bought Sherri Hill for my senior prom yeeeears ago and it was so pricey ($650- yes, I was insane) so I could just imagine the pricetag on them now. The salon she goes to only carries that designer brand. I've seen a few of them do this and they aren't going to wear them next year. It just seems like a waste.
So these people are just throwing away the $$ and buying a new dress next year? Once again, tone deaf. I suppose if they are donating the dresses, then it will help someone out who wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise, but with everything going on, it's just willful ignorance.

Re: The Leroys
Yeah, complaining about prom while all this is going on is a major first world problem. I do feel for our seniors that are missing out (mostly valedictorians and such that don’t get to do their speeches, families that won’t see kids who worked hard walk at graduation, etc.) but Kesley gets 2 more years to experience prom. I’m sure it’s disappointing but c’mon. Did she say she’s not going to use that dress!?? How dumb and wasteful! My prom dress was $30 from Macy’s clearance rack nearly a decade ago. It wasn’t a dress I would wear again so it got donated. There are tons of programs where I live to donate prom dresses for those who can’t afford them. I’m in San Diego and you can donate them for teens with cancer because we have a nonprofit that throws an annual prom for kids with cancer here and they want to keep it all free if they can. I’m sure Utah must have SOMETHING she can donate it to if she won’t wear it again. I really hope they don’t try to sell it as I see many of these vlog parents selling their teen girls clothing on posh mark and Instagram.

Dumb blonde comes to mind, when Kesley speaks/types up a post anymore... even though her roots are brown. She doesn't care about money, (like her mom)... so, of course... next year she would be getting all brand new dresses for every dance! It would also give her new videos for "hoco dress shopping" "prom dress shopping" "____ dress shopping". And she probably couldn't care less about the senior she was going with.. she was just excited to be a sophomore, going to a senior prom, and now she's not going. Wah wah wah. Someone should give her a dose of reality... that people are sick, very sick... and dying. There are people who aren't able to feed their families right now, because they can't work.Elah_w wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 1:05 pm Yeah, complaining about prom while all this is going on is a major first world problem. Re: The Leroys
Isn't she supposed to be "crushing" on one of the Mikesell boys?
But she was going to prom with a senior?
And now crying over it?
Not surprising. She was doing prom dress shopping videos as a freshman.
They're just all so tone deaf.

I was just thinking about this. Kesley turned 16 in December and was born in 2003, but she’s a sophomore. How is that possible? Does Utah (or wherever they live) have a different school system? Where I live, those born in 2003 are currently juniors / grade 11s

Their cutoff date is September 1st. Since her birthday is in December, she wouldn't have started school until the next year.Queen900 wrote:I was just thinking about this. Re: The Leroys
Wow... their video today is just awful. They totally thought up that whole scheme just to get views and have clickbait for their vlog. They actually had me questioning for a minute if they were really going to travel, given that they already did before when the pandemic was going on. No wonder those poor kids were pissed. First they have their parents leave them alone for a week long vacation during a pandemic and earthquake, and now their parents play a nasty prank on them just to get clickbait and try to raise controversy for views. All of them looked they were about to cry when they realized what their parents were doing. And they dragged it on for so long, with the kids getting more and more disappointed with every suitcase they opened, but still being totally confused and not fully realizing what was going on. They even straight up lied... saying they called the airlines and that people are still traveling, just so those poor kids would completely fall for it. They're just kids, they don't realize the gravity of the situation or understand the necessity for quarantine. They're still bummed out over missing out on prom, school, and spring break and then they have to have their parents raise their hopes up for minute just to devastate them. I used to actually think Shanna and Corey seemed more down to earth than other vloggers, but this shows just how exploitative and money hungry they are, purposefully hurting their kids and then filming it and posting it online for views.
The Leroys
What a stupid prank. I really do think it was mean even though Shanna constantly pushes the narrative that wE aRe A vErY sArCaStIC fAmiLy and anyone who disagrees with what they do just doesn’t have a sense of humor. Kids don’t fully understand this whole situation and will obviously believe their parents if they’re told people are still allowed to fly and go on vacation. They were probably really excited at the thought of getting to leave the house (who wouldn’t be during this time?) only to be told it’s all a prank. We are all getting stir crazy, especially kids who are so dependent on routine.
And Shanna said something to the effect of, “the kids are upset and we knew it would upset them.” So you KNEW this would upset your children and you did it anyway? I’m sorry but wtf? No, it wasn’t a HUGE deal or incredibly cruel like some other pranks, but I can not understand ever doing that. Pranks are never a good idea unless it’s something where you know everyone will get a good laugh out of it.
Must suck to be so desperate for content that you are cool with purposely making your kids upset. Also must suck to be so dense that you’re ok with using a horrible situation to get your jollies and YouTube money. I wonder if anyone that used to work with Cory watches these videos and thinks, wow this guy really gave up what could have been a lucrative pilot career to post unfunny videos.

Ugh. She does NOT have OCD. Neither do I, but people who like things neat don't have OCD, and suggesting that they do is an insult to people who actually suffer from it. It belittles the actual struggle that those people go through daily.

new to the thread- so have OCD and I used to have such severe OCD that I contemplated ending my life. I had to go to residential treatment for it for seven weeks.I don't know Shana's life when the camera is off or what goes on inside her mind, but OCD is so much more than cleaning. She said that she enjoys cleaning- and with OCD- you usually hate doing your compulsions but you are driven to. OCD is so much more than just cleaning. I commented saying that OCD is more complex, but she left a snide comment to me. They have a young audience to begin with and I don't know- just bothers me when the disorder is misrepresented, maybe I'm just too sensitive, idk.

Re: The Leroys
Sending you love, blueskies. I'm studying psychology at school (already have my bachelor's and working on my master's with plenty of field studies so I have experience) and it hurts me that people with such a platform say things like this. Maybe they are just uneducated on what OCD actually is, and that's ok. I don't expect everyone to know everything about disorders, however, they should not be saying "I have such bad OCD" or "I'm so depressed because *insert something here that has nothing to do with depression*" It shows what kind of person Shanna truly is because of how snide she was to you when you were just trying to inform her. We need more of that....informing. Having people actually listen and understand rather than taking offense. Thanks for sharing this with us!blueskiesblueeyes wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 9:52 am new to the thread- so have OCD and I used to have such severe OCD that I contemplated ending my life. Re: The Leroys
Exactly this. I suffer with OCD and it's gotten a little better with therapy over the years.. but, I still have it. There were times when I would just curl up in my bed and cry my eyes out, and wonder why this was happening to me, why I couldn't just turn it off. Constantly checking the locks, to make sure they are locked... washing my hands to the point that they were so dry that they cracked and started bleeding. Counting til I would drive myself insane. Straightening every label so it faced the same direction... and if someone touched it, I would have to go through and do it again. It was and is NOT fun! If it's fun, it's NOT OCD! I am so sorry you deal with this too Blue, and I am sorry you felt how you did about your life. I have been there many times. I have to let people that say "I am so OCD" or "It's my ADD/shiny!" or "I am so Bipolar" etc etc... go, when they clearly don't have any of the such. Or I would honestly just want to punch them all. Unfortunately, foolish and stupid people, will never understand what it's like, and won't ever change how they speak.blueskiesblueeyes wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 9:52 am new to the thread- so have OCD and I used to have such severe OCD that I contemplated ending my life. Thanks to both of you for sharing! I wish both of you peace and healing. This is exactly what I meant. Shanna has a platform, and being snide with someone who is only trying to educate is just wrong. I have family members with various mental health issues, and seeing them struggle while people like Shanna are flippant about actual problems people have, makes me so angry.ThisIsMeCeej wrote:Exactly this. Re: The Leroys
I also call BS on both her and Ruby claiming to be neat freaks while they allow their birds out of their cages and let them fly all over the house pooping wherever they go. Birds are not clean animals, they carry parasites and get feathers and bird poop everywhere. I don't think they should be kept in cages either, honestly. My old roommate had cockatiels and they were smelly and messy. And the idea of giving them free range of the house to poop everywhere, while claiming to be neat freaks, just flies in the face of logic.
If I offended any bird owners, I apologize. It's only my opinion-- they're just icky to me.

Re: The Leroys
I used to have some OCD not as severe though. It is not fun to have to do everything an equal number of times on each side or else everyone you love will die, or having to open up the microwave at a specific time. My Dad used to have OCD and my sister has a little bit to. I can tell you for a fact it is not fun and I do not like when people make light of it.blueskiesblueeyes wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 9:52 am new to the thread- so have OCD and I used to have such severe OCD that I contemplated ending my life. So they had a birthday party for one of the girls (Reese? Perri?). And they had a limo come. Normally not a big deal-- other people with money to burn do that. But no masks, no attempt at social distancing. And Covid-19 cases are spiking in Utah.
But hey, God will keep them safe, right?

Re: The Leroys
So someone posted that Corey "has cake", and Shanna Googled it and just thinks it's so hilarious that she had to do an instastory with that freakish filter she loves so much, and go on about it in the vlog. But "cake" is supposedly a WOMAN with a nice/tight ass. So if she really thinks Corey has cake, does she know something we don't?
And are they actually in danger from the fires, or is it their usual clickbait?

And once again, they show that they are clueless.
If the Mormon church is asking people to wear masks, WHY is Kesley going on a "friend trip", and not social distancing?
I guess God protects LDS vloggers. And any vulnerable relatives they might have.
