Lucy Eades: Part 11
Re: Lucy Eades: Part 11
I was being bullied for induction with all three approaching 40 wks. I said no and luckily had them before. Great guy, but kind of induction happy.
The last time I knew it was because of a vacation he had planned. He went on vacation and another Dr. caught my baby.
Induction should only be done for a legit reason. If you plan on natural birth pitocin sucks!!

Re: Lucy Eades: Part 11
Oh well....I think that kind of depends. I was induced with pitocin twice and had fast easy labours both times with no pain relief. 4 hours first time, less than 2 hours the second. So induced medication-free births both times.
Re: Lucy Eades: Part 11
To be fair, I was already 5 cm dilated both times. It only took the whiff off the top of the pitocin bag to get me making animal noises and trying to climb the wall.
Re: Lucy Eades: Part 11
oh wow!!! I was due on the 31st but my mom got induced on the 22nd because her doctor was going out of town! that was 24 years ago 9 GOOD to see thing change, lol. As far as I know I was fine at 7lbs6oz at 3pm (everyone was home for Christmas day)thegooseiscooked wrote:I was due with my first baby on 29 December. My obgyn bullied me into being induced on the 22nd because he was going away and it suited him to file all of his December/January babies into either "delivered" or "safe".
It caused problems. My son was severely jaundiced which was probably the reason breast feeding was nearly impossible for us and we switched to formula. Christmas Day, he was being considered for a blood transfusion. Not exactly the way I would have liked my first experience with a newborn baby to go. Had he come in his own time, I am confident that it would have gone a hell of a lot smoother and happier for us.
I would never recommend inducing for convenience if I was asked for an opinion. But I would never judge and bully people. Lucy is a bully, an ill-informed one but a bully all the same. Shut your damn trap about your opinions on natural child birth (of which you have only had 3 Lucy, not 4) and fix your damn windscreen!

I literally don't know a single person who hasn't been induced. Do doctors do it just because they feel like it or what?

Re: Lucy Eades: Part 11
Lots of women are okay with elective inductions and scheduling their baby.
In fact, honestly, I had to be induced with my son (ended in an emergency c-section) but I probably would have chosen induction anyway had I not needed one. At the time, I was living in a very rural area with 56k dialup Internet. I had limited access to information and honestly, I was young, I didn't realize there were issues with it. I trusted that the doctor knew. I also started him on solids at 4 mos and ff'd him at 20 lbs and 1 year. I didn't know any better.
Not that Lucy is that way, but I hate when people get all uppity about that kind of stuff, inductions and c sections etc. For one, it's not their baby or their body, and for two, it is entirely possible that the mother just does not know any better. Of course, there are plenty who do it for selfish reasons, but that doesn't mean all women who are electively induced are that way.

It can go the other way too though. My cousin was induced 10 days past her due date. She's 5'6" and only weighs about 50kg, she's tiny, and they estimated the baby's birth weight to be 9lbs or over. They let her go to 10 days past her due date, then decided to induce her, the first time it failed so they had to induce her again, 42 hours of active labour later, my cousin was incredibly ill (she was as yellow as someone with severe liver problems, it was horrific), the baby was distressed and they ended up needing to do an emergency C-section because the baby was simply too big to come out. In hindsight, they should have induced her prior to her due date, taking into consideration her size and the baby's estimated size.
Re: Lucy Eades: Part 11
I think we are talking about elective inductions. Meaning you set a date because it fits with your schedule and life. Doctors love this. They can plan. And it is sad. Yes, your baby may be fine. But fine is not good enough. At least for the informed. Induction should not be like making dinner plans. I know we want certain things. I understand husbands going away and such. I can totally understand.

Re: Lucy Eades: Part 11
I've had two inductions because of amniotic fluid issues. My second had low amniotic fluid according to the ultrasound(ended up being more than they thought when they broke my water)so I was induced for 16 hour until she became distressed and I wouldn't dilate(was at 3cm at 39w till 42w) so I ended up witha second c/s. With my fourth child, I was a little over 41w when I got induced because they couldn't find a single pocket of fluid(this time it was right). Sixteen hours later, I pushed out my baby boy. By far, that was the best delivery!

Lucy is sick mentally. Obsessed with breastfeeding, yet feeds her older children shit.
