Kalyn and Robert

Thought I'd start a thread about this. They entered the E & J contest back in 2016. Their IF doctor's wife saw their video encouraged her husband to help them. Anyway thanks to fundraisers and family and their clinic they were able to do IVF last year and are due with a baby girl in May 2018. Her name is Magnolia Snow.

I'm like a lot of people I'm on the fence. I like them and I don't. Their very "keep things positive" and even commented on other videos by couples who also entered E & J's contest one of them where they commented the couple are already parents of 2 under 2 so to me and everyone else it looked bad that they entered.

Like other vloggers they have a PO box and hint for people to send them stuff. They are big at clickbait.Honestly they haven't done any really interesting videos and they make videos responding to criticism. They are doing a youtube baby shower coming up and registered for things separately from their baby registry for their family and friends baby shower.

Granted the amazon registry is pretty much things that are $15 and under items and are easy to ship but I've noticed some of those items only ship when their paired with items that are $25 or more.


I kind of expected as a couple who's tried to conceive for years to do a little research into the products they register for or buy for their baby.

They are registered for a $200 bassinet and lets face it people babies only sleep in them for a short time and the basinet is kind of heavy so it's not like you can take it around the house. I'd considered it but then the price tag and the fact it has one use for a short time made me realize it was a waste of money. Most basinets are 1/2 the price they want for this. Plus the accessories are extra. They actually have three basinets on their registry. IDK why?

They chose their car seat based on color not features or safety record. To me the latter is more important. And it was a crappy car seat with a crappy safety record they picked.

Robert did a special video while Kalyn was out to address criticism about the baby shower. You have to have somewhat of a thick skin to be a youtuber and it's kind of an off thing this wasn't the first time in less than 3 months he's done this. I don't watch them often because most of their videos are done at home, and their kind of boring.

I don’t know how I feel about them either. I’m very on the fence. I don’t like Robert always hinting for things or how he pressures his viewers to share etc so K can stay home with the baby. Hey, I get you want her to be a stay at home mom, but don’t keep on and on about it. He hasn’t brought it up recently, but he/they have ranted about YT being awful etc. he even said he feels for E+J because they have such an unstable employer (YT). I can’t remember the exact phrase, but it was strange to be hating on YT since they have a channel. He also asked his viewers if they’d follow them someplace else and leave YT. ETC.

I also thought their main reason for needing IVF was because of his swimmers. Well He is a big guy. I'm not hating on him for it but he does have a widow maker gut. And one of the issues with IF is having a healthy BMI, that could've affected his swimmers and they don't seem to eat healthy. She's huge and she still has 4 months to go. As far as wanting Kalyn to be a stay at home mom I don't see an issue and I don't see them needing yt as income. They live in South Carolina and their kind of close to Hilton Head and Tybee Island which are huge for weddings. He's a wedding photographer and he's very talented. He's also close to Tennessee and I've heard of photographers being regional and they make very good money.

His constant thing about wanting Kalyn to be a stay at home mom I understand but his constant belly aching about youtube is ANNOYING.

Back to the IVF grant, when it was only known that one would be granted they were cheering on a couple who already have 2 children. I can't see how an IF couple could feel sorry for a couple who already have kids and sent in a video hoping to win when there were so many couples with empty arms married and ttc for years. When people speak about E&J or another couple on yt that are narcissistic on yt their like "keep it positive"

I don't feel bad for E & J they may have an unstable employer but it was their choice and they spend money like crazy. The baby blankets that look like their from Dollar General that Ellie buys? Those are $75! When you can get something nicer from target for $20 it's crazy.

Yes! To all of it! Robert also works for an agency who recruits foster parents. I know he works through one and fosters through another per the rules at his job. Anyway, K&R seem like huge E&J fans. I don’t know if they are trying to ride on their coattails or what, but it’s so annoying since I don’t like E&J. K&R def need to eat healthier, workout (which I believe he said they are doing now) etc. they truly lucked out with this pregnancy and how it was mostly provided for by the doctors office and youtube followers. I know they needed money for medication that they didn’t plan on and youtube viewers stepped up and sent it. Which is amazing. I think Robert needs to def focus more on his photography which he is amazing at. Def has a gift for that. I hope K can stay home and be a full time mom. I’m not sure what happened to her Etsy business she started. But I hate the begging style attitude. Drives me nuts. E&J def do spend tons of money and I agree that they picked that kind of uncertainty with their employer. It seems like they have it better than some youtubers though.

I'm not a fan of E&J either. I do hope K can be a stay at home mom. It sounds like the day care center she works in is a nice one and I know some ladies do have to work and it's awesome that she can be there for those kiddos. Where I used to live day care centers were the last place you'd want to take your child. One of them actually made national news for something unimaginable and unspeakable. They changed owners but the ladies who are trained in recognizing child abuse and reporting it by law totally ignored two families who were abusing and neglecting their kids and to me that is not ok.

I thought her etsy business was great. The things she made were beautiful.


To be honest I'm kind of glad youtube is changing because the amount of people who vlog and exploit their kids for money. I know not all do but the big ones I feel do.

I don't think Robert and Kalyn do but Robert seriously needs to dial it down.

Today's vlog. MAJOR clickbait alert. The graphic says "emotional visit with high risk doc" and the title of the video is crying at doc appointment our pregnancy journey

So they go to the doc app and you think the doctor's have told them something bad. Still on the fence about liking them here. They are nice but this clickbait about pregnancy is not cool. Especially when you make it look like it's about the health of your baby. They had an ultrasound and the cost of the APP was 1,000 and their insurance covered half. They have a bill from two previous visits for $700. I get it I've had OB visits where they just talked to me and blood work and my part was $300 and I wasn't even pregnant at the time. Back when I was I had tons of appointments and ultrasounds I had one every other week.

I would totally pay $1,000 if it meant that I was due in 3 months and kept getting good reports. I can remember when I was a little further along and I was having issues. And every appointment it was like being stuck on a roller coaster upside down. I don't wish that on anyone.

Yes, when I watched that video about the doctor appointment it annoyed me. By the title/thumbnail it seemed like something to be worried about. Robert also said that the ultrasound tech was on the heart longer, got quiet etc. so I was thinking oh, no... then it was only about MONEY! It definitely annoyed me.

I thought it was a beauty channel but its just a basic channel with more women's interests etc. Anyway a month after they found out they were pregnant she posts a maternity haul. On to the petty part its hard to watch that extra tooth in the front and it sounds like it affects her speech. It's kind of annoying.

They like every comment. I doubt they read it because a lot of them are really dumb. One lady was like I know how you feel I went to the doctors once a month and twice during my last month of pregnancy. Um that's everyone does for a normal pregnancy... and it's actually once a month until you reach the last 4 weeks then they see you each week.

I also think they wouldn't need IVF if Robert was at a healthy BMI. I know Kalyn also has issues but I think if they got healthy (which a lot of the time helps) they wouldn't need so much medical intervention. Maybe IUI would've worked. Only reason I question that was because they didn't try it.

I also think the whole go fund me thing was a bit much. My ex sister in law simply got a grant from her clinic. All people really have to do is speak with their clinic's finance coordinator they can help. I think it's great their clinic helped them. They waited a long time for Magnolia. I've also known people to get loans against their house for treatment as well. I maybe wrong but they might also be able to claim certain expenses on their taxes.

I have watched a video or two on K’s channel, but haven’t really gotten into her stuff. I was really only around for the foster care journey and then the IVF. It truly blows my mind how unhealthy they eat and are wanting to have a baby in that condition. I’d think their health/fitness would have been number one and then the baby. But maybe they need this baby to be their motivation to better themselves. I’m truly happy they are having this baby I just hope they do follow through with better eating and fitness because they are on a very very bad road if they don’t.

Yeah this is only their first baby and she is huge for 22 weeks. She looks 8 months and has a good 3 1/2 months to go.

It's not out of the realm of possibility since Robert is a big guy height wise. Those guys tend to have large babies. My ex was 6'3 and both of our babies were big. But I don't think it's because she's going to be a big baby. I don't want to body shame here but she wasn't fat but wasn't thin when she got pregnant and while it seems like on some videos she's eating healthy and I'm so happy for Robert going to the gym. She looks full term in the latest insta story. And I wanted to reach through the camera and give her a little pep talk because she was complaining that Magnolia (poor kid...sorry) was moving around a lot and she couldn't relax because she wouldn't sit still. I just want to tell her a lot of people who follow them are still experiencing IF issues and complaining about your baby moving around is kind of a trigger for some. And when I was 25 weeks I had no problem sleeping. Both babies thought it was playtime but I found it reassuring that they were moving around.

I’m for sure not trying to body shame either. I’m happy they aren’t getting healthier. The baby deserves two healthy, happy parents. Yeah, I can understand how sensitive these topics can be for some. I totally get that. I too also loved feeling my babies move and didn’t complain about it. She does look full term.

I feel like they have this entitlement thing going on. I did love Robert's idea for IVF. It's absolutely a better idea vs Ellie and Jared's. But when you go through years of IF you have this sense of empathy. I think things like Ellie and Jared's IVF grant should go to the people who need it vs people who already have families. Yet they had gone over to another couple's yt and were like that is awesome we'd love to see your video!

And all of them seem to have go fund mes and PO boxes and are so weird about constantly mentioning it in their videos. Not as bad as other yt vloggers. I know they are having a youtube baby shower and everything they've registered for is at a reasonable price vs what John and joan have going on.

I think K + R are trying to ride of E + J’s coat tails. I don’t like E + J so I find it beyond annoying. I don’t care for K + R but I wish them the best. The husband can def get under my skin. Especially when he was always wanting stuff sent to the PO BOX. That has died down now... are they still doing the YouTube baby shower? I haven’t heard much about it lately. I also haven’t watched the most current video because I just don’t care. It’s getting boring. I’ll watch here and there but that’s about it.

I have seen them on both instagram and youtube and the whole thing about the concerns with Magnolia's health to a point is understandable. But I feel like they go overboard. If they had to deliver her now at 27 weeks she would most likely be ok. I get the feeling a lot of this is drummed up drama that most Ytubers pull. And I don't like it. I get the ones who have lost babies being cautious by saying "at the end we are guaranteed nothing" I get they've had a scare and needed to see a high risk specialist (sounds like though they can still give birth at the birth center so I kind of push that away as a "big deal" and their more worried about the money they spent via the click bait video they made about the whole situation. Getting to 30 weeks is half the battle and if they saw anything they'd do a stat c section and get the baby out asap. I know some babies pass away and

That's what turned me against them and the whole Robert constantly whining (it sounds like that!) about wanting Kalyn to be a stay at home mom. I also wonder when he gets on to do these little chats without Kalyn there how she feels about them since all of them seem to be done without her there.

That beard. I bet he's if he shaved it he'd improve... It looks gross.

I don't even care about the fact their throwing themselves a baby shower. I know I've seen comments prior asking them to do it and their not like Joan and John who put expensive things on their baby registry.

Kalyn was there, but hardly said a word. The baby room has a lot going on. I love the sign Kalyn made of her name over the crib, but I don’t like anything else. I really wish they’d redo it. Lol...

I watched the one of Robert getting the house more prepared and his father was fixing an old college dresser. That beard is disgusting and I wish he’d shave it off. Kalyn was there, but hardly said a word. The baby room has a lot going on. I love the sign Kalyn made of her name over the crib, but I don’t like anything else. I really wish they’d redo it. Lol...

They have a rug on their registry and it's ugly in no way goes with anything in that room. Originally the room was themed "dumbo" because they'd use it for foster placements as well so the room had to work for a boy or a girl. But that rug is just yuck. It's on their target baby registry. Good news he trimmed the beard. Baby steps.
