I know I am going to Hell for liking this comment. They totally screwed up that kid's teeth with that stupid pacifier. Not Calvin's fault. Poor lamb
I can see ellie doing gender selection. She would justify it by saying God gave them all this money and she knows he would want her to have the girl she "deserves"

Omg hahaha. Poor Cal.
I think we've chalked up his bad teeth partially to the pacifier/wubanub and partially to Jared's bad teeth. Jared has talked about having horribly crooked teeth growing up, getting made fun of, and having braces for a long period of time. However, that was his adult teeth. I know big crooked teeth can be hereditary, but wouldn't that only apply to when Calvin's adult teeth come in, not his baby teeth? Meaning that his teeth truly are just /that/ messed up solely from the pacifier/wubanub hanging out of his mouth the first year 1/2 of his life?

Jared said in an earlier vlog his teeth were an issue and it bothered him so I think heredity plays a part. I am guessing their dentist is watching this and I don't know if his permanent teeth will come in differently? I would have gotten rid of that pacifier earlier and fortunate for them they have enough money to invest in making Calvin's teeth look better.

I was watching old vlogs and came across the breathing incident (a year ago yesterday!). Wow. Great parenting and so many inconsistencies and lies.

I always liked how sweet Ellie was to Jackson in this video. Really makes me wonder how she could change so much. Also yes, them explaining how Calvin stopped breathing is the sketchiest thing ever

OH MY GOD I wanted to punch him so many times. Especially gagging at sushi. Shut up, Jared. You're a child.
Two things: Whoever said they were road-tripping to CA for Bryan's whatever release was correct, and OF COURSE Ellie NEEDS a freaking YETI cooler for the trip. That cooler bag is $300, and honestly unless you're going on a days long camping trip with, you don't need it.
Are you serious that cooler is $300.00. Disposable income must be a lot. I agree with you and a road trip is a $25.00 cooler at Walmart. Speaking of Walmart, you don't see them there shopping much these days like the earlier vlogs.
natalka81 wrote:Kids riding dogs just isn't cute. It's dangerous, unfair to the dog, and just plain wrong. I feel like Ellie and Jared were encouraging this a bit on today's vlog. I liked the way they told Calvin to be "soft" with the puppy (although I'm not sure how well that worked) and I don't think Calvin's behaviour was anything unusual for a child his age, but if they continue to encourage it the way they do, it could spell trouble. Penny does seem like a gentle and patient dog, though, so at least there's that...
Ellie wouldn't see a problem with how Calvin treats the puppy. There was an old family video on The Griffiths Life (Beau's channel) of them terrorising their family dog as kids. No one stopped them then, so it MUST be OK
Scar2016 wrote:Looking at that video from Jan 2016 of 'Calvin stopped breathing' - does anyone think Ellie's had a nose job? I'll try and do a screenshot comparison.
I remember thinking that before, but everyone pretty much agreed it is contouring. If you go back to before she was pregnant with Jackson her nose looked a lot fuller. She had a fuller face in general back then though.
It does look different, but I always find myself staring at her nose when she has no makeup on, and then not noticing it when she's all done up, so even though I wouldn't put it passed her, I think she may just really know what she's doing in the contour department.
Denlillehavfrue wrote:Just because Calvin is a toddler, they need to stop acting like everything he does is cute. His behavior with Penny (including sitting on her) is not cute. He is not "soft" with her what so ever.
This. Even the nicest dog can nip out of instinct if hurt or startked. Labs tend to be gentle, but kids need to learn that not all dogs are. One benefit to having a family pet is being able to watch and learn their body language. It isn't hard if you know what to look for (and respect what they are telling you).
How hard is it to teach your children to respect animals? I don't think my kids have ever tried to sit on the dog. Maybe I've just stopped them before they even had the chance...
Not hard at all. I had both my granddaughter and my nephew trained by 10 months old to hold their hands flat when approaching our cats and dogs to show the cat that they were going to "be soft". Not to say there wasn't a moment of enthusiasm where the fingers curled from the excitement of being about to touch an animal but I pulled their hands away until they were flat again. My granddaughter impressed the nurse at the pediatricians office by putting her hand flat when she saw a picture of a kitty and making the clicking noise I make to call my cats before she was a year old. This was absolutely imperative as her mother has seven dogs in the house and not all of them are nice. NOT teaching your kids to be kind to animals is a bad idea for both the animal and the kids. I just can't even...

Yes, I completely agree. It made we wonder if he really is specifically targeting everything he does on film at the 8-10 year old crowd (or younger). I sort of thought they might aim for something a little more in the middle (i.e. of course family/kid friendly but not condescendingly silly/immature) but it seems like maybe they've gone the way of Captain Kangaroo or something. I don't think Ellie is nearly as obnoxious in this way. In other ways, perhaps, but not this ridiculous... I felt embarrassed watching Jared and had to fast forward.

I think it's not really anyone's fault. Lots of kids have pacifiers hanging out of their mouths for much longer than Calvin. I'm not a huge fan of pacifiers but I kind of think this must be more a hereditary thing than a pacifier thing. I think he's an adorable little boy regardless

Those pacifiers aren't supposed to be used after 6 months anyway. If they had listened to the recommendations, it's possible his tweth wouldn't be so bad.
Whenever Jared acts extra obnoxious it comes off as him trying to be like Shay because, in Jared's eyes, that's what helped make the Shaytards successful.
That's not naturally his personality and it shows. Even his siblings have made several comments on how much he has changed, which leads me to believe he has created a YouTube persona over the years. I also think this is why we see him act more chill when he's with his dad, because he defaults to his natural personality.

It's Calvin's first compliment!
I'm not a pacifier hater, and have known plenty of kids who kept theirs much longer than Calvin did. But those kids' pacifiers didn't have stuffed animals hanging off them. I hate Wubanubs!

That pacifier they used had the stuff animal on it. The weight of the animal could have had an effect. They stopped using it shortly after his visit to the dentist.
