Bonnie Hoellein: A Butt-Squeezing Good Time | Part 12
Re: Bonnie Hoellein: A Butt-Squeezing Good Time | Part 12
I don't think any of them had 7 popsicles, I think Olivia took 7 for the 4 of them, so all but 1 had 2 each (or 2 split 1)-- which is still alot, but nowhere near 7 EACH!

I'm not going to rewatch but I think Olivia said "I had seven". But I took that to mean 7 single "halfs". Still a lot.

Yes, both Olivia and Cody said they had 7. I took it to mean 7 single popsicles too....or at least I really hope so, because each "half" is 12 grams of sugar... If they meant they had 7 packages that would mean doubling the number I put above, and I don't even want to consider that possibility, haha.FakingIt_MakingIt wrote:I'm not going to rewatch but I think Olivia said "I had seven". Yes, I took it to mean that as well. And I still find it revolting. I have no problem with kids having treats but it's just overkill with the Griffiths grandkids.FakingIt_MakingIt wrote:I'm not going to rewatch but I think Olivia said "I had seven". Bonnie Hoellein: A Butt-Squeezing Good Time | Part 12
Holy shit, take that baby bottle full of milk for nap time away from that child!!!! It's ridiculous that Lincoln is still on the bottle AND using it to fall asleep. Is he about to be 2 soon?? My god.
Someone mentioned liking how Jennifer says "Lincoln" omg I HATE it! Hahaha it was so grating. And TBH, I hate how Bonnie pronounces her children's names, too. The exaggerated enunciation almost makes them sound like they're learning how to speak English, or teaching an infant how to speak. Jennifer's tone is so rude and off-putting when she was telling Lincoln to share a bite with her.
Ending on a positive... BOSTON, omg. He won a little spot in my heart today with the pine cone clip! He seems to really have Joel's personality in him. It didn't seem like he did the chore to get a reward like most children. His calm reaction to his grandma's surprise was more like, "it needed to be done, so I went ahead and did it." Sweet, thoughtful child.

I was the one who said I liked the way she says Lincoln lol, I think it's because I have an uncle Lincoln and my grandparents always said it that way too. I've noticed most older people pronounce it like that.
Totally agree abput the bottle. She's trying to keep him a baby for as long as possible, and I really hope it doesn't set him back. I understand it's sad to "lose" your last baby, but I don't think it's okay to drag babyhood out in such extreme measures.

^^ my biggest concern is his dental health. In my dental hygienist group, the biggest topic about pediatric dentistry is how many toddlers seen with bottles (esp with juice) and pacifiers, and how they're the ones needing to be referred for dental work due to decay. But whatever. Her kids, her choice. Not an endearing quality.

I think it's fine, he's 6, Bonnie was right there, the worst that could've happened was him burning his fingers.

As long as he knows that he only does it when there's an adult there, and they're kept out of reach at all other times...

I can't believe how much Lincoln is talking [HEAVY BLACK HEART]️ He said "Olivia popped a balloon". Even though it was more like "Oyaya popped a boon" you can definitely understand him. He was chattering away and repeating everything throughout the vlog! And I know I've mentioned this before but I love the androgynous look his hair/face have going on. So sweet. I do love the simple birthdays that they put on. Birthday boy was happy so there's no need for extravagance, especially at two years old. This was a great vlog.
Lincoln is the last Hoellein birthday of the calendar year, right? I can't remember when B&J's are.

I like the simple birthday. It reminded me of my own childhood, as opposed to a try-hard YouTuber celebration with "friends" flying first-class to "collab." I also enjoy Lincoln's chatter and demeanor, which seems worlds away from whatever is going on with his cousin Calvin. All of Bonnie's kids have good characters. A lot of kids Boston's & Cody's age would be petulant little twerps on their brother's birthday and expect to get gifts or have attention lavished on them. Bonnie's kids are instead excited for the birthday kid, and enjoy giving, which I think is sweet.

I loved the understated way they celebrated the day as well. Lincoln was the Centre and the whole day felt very intimate, like they all were really recognizing and enjoying him. I prefer this to the big YT parties as well where the child is the focus of a big party, but gets lost in the celebration.RecklessDisregard wrote:I like the simple birthday. Then again, I also like Bonnie's vlogs because they show the kids in a contentedly different way than most vloggers. It still seems like they are capturing little moments that they will look back on and treasure (like Linc talking, or Boston playing Paw Patrol). I can relate to wantinh videos like that.

Bonnie's vlog is the only one I watch for entertainment/interest. I used to watched Ruby's for that reason, too, but definitely not anymore. I watch DailyBumps because I am a masochist, I guess, because I always feel like the world is falling apart after I've watched it, and truly wonder if we'll make it as a society into the next decade! Birthday parties like Lincoln's are so refreshing. People just hanging around enjoying the toddler, celebrating together, and opening simple presents. Parents respecting their kids, kids respecting each other. Hooray for this.

I had to watch the vlog today because I love little Lincoln. He is so sweet and starting to talk and I love it. They had the perfect day for him. I know Bonnie defended herself on this in the vlog but I hate that she lets the kids open presents for each other. Lincoln was doing a good job unwrapping at one point and the others just ripped it out of his hands and opened for him.
They do the same at cousins birthdays. I make sure to keep my kids away from other kids presents.

I agree. It's a pet peeve of mine. Kids need to learn to let their siblings have their own day completely. I also do not believe in buying for the other kids when it's not their birthday. This is a little tiny start to how we are raising a generation of entitlement. We don't have pure winners, there are participation ribbons etc and so on. We were made to share and our birthdays were ours and we minded our manners. I will be honest that it surprises me as strict as Bonnie is with so many other things she lets this one slide.
Re: Bonnie Hoellein: A Butt-Squeezing Good Time | Part 12
And to add to that we had a cousin whose child always went to all the cousins birthday parties and would start helping or ripping open the birthday kid's presents and his Mom would sit there like aw isn't that cute? Never told him to stop or pull him back. One year my cousin's husband gently picked him up and set him back about 5 ft. Nobody said a word, you could of heard a pin drop but the party went on from there.

I wanted to add that I loved how Joel? uses "montage" type of editing. Like today in the pool, the music was really sweet, and didn't seem to be done out of laziness. It seemed meaningful and sweet.
