they are all so annoying, yet i can't not watch. i think i just enjoy watching wrecks from afar.

Over enunciation. Drives me crazy with this family. She got it from her Mom. I have a friend who uses K for G at the end of her words.

Many people I know and see on YouTube (Bryan Lanning, The Shaytards and the Griffiths (Mom is from Idaho where many are who do this). Have the glottal stop like the British. It's crazy and annoying but I am from the South and we drop our g's so we probably sound stupid too. lol

I’m British and I swear I don’t say it weird! Haha but I’m from Yorkshire so we tend to drop letters anyway! My mum goes mad when I do it because she’s from Somerset which is whole other accent haha

I wonder what's going to happen if one of the kids is gay?
My apologies for any grammar or spelling mistakes. English is not my first language
Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
Anyone notice how close they are to passing Ellie and jared in subs?
Also, Shari is a prissy little thing isn't she? She walked out of jumanji because of what she learned at seminary? Lololol.
I couldn't bare to eat at their house. Blue moldy cheese?!? That's a big old he'll no from me.

I've noticed another word where the way they say it drives me crazy: meal. They pronounce it "mill." The whole Griffith family does.Lauralou_15 wrote:I can’t bear Buttons... buttens? Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
I actually cannot believe that Shari walked out of Jumanji. This family is so crazy. They think they are so much better than everyone else cause they are mormons. And I don't think Shari will become a lawyer, she seems very influenced by the church so I expect she will get married and having 10 kids in a couple of years.

I hope they don't go to Italy for Kevin's sabbatical. I woudn't be able to stand it. Stay in Utahhhhhhhh we don't want youuuuuuu.
If they do go I have the following predictions:
- Shari will be miserable because ain't nobody putting up with her attitude in Italy. People and especially the teens are A LOT less polite and they will call her out. Also she will realize that compared to Italian public school her Mormon bullshit school lags waaaay behind. Unless they send her to an expat school then it will be easier.
- Ruby will lose her mind when men start hitting on her everywhere she goes just because she's blonde and looks American (which is often thought of as being easy in southern europe.. also you can be a a treestump but if you're blonde you're going to get hit on mercilessly.)
- Abby is going to go through the same thing. This might be problematic for her development. I've seen it fuck up several lovely foreign teens who were not prepared to get that kind of attention so early in life.
- Russel is going to have a VERY hard time fitting in.
- Julie is probably going to do fine as long as she loses the bragging attitude she's had these past vlogs
- Chad is going to stop being Mormon. He is going to make friends easily and realize how sheltered his life has been so far and he's going to quit listening to his parents completely.
- Kevin is going to be 5x annoying.
- Eve will probably be fine. Hope they put her in an Italian kindergarden so she can socialize with kids her age and learn structure and rules.
Edited to add: a few months before leaving for their sabbatical Nolly will mysteriously develop an incurable disease and they will put her down. Said incurable disease will be old age, but they will use vague language in the vlog to make it sound inevitable.
I totally agree with the bit about Nolly. That was my first thought, if she hasn't passed away by the time they are leaving she will get some sort of vague terminal illness that is their excuse to put her down.
I don't watch them everyday but when he was talking about going to Italy for a sabbatical I was like 'say what?!'. They are usually just one semester, and professors do sometimes use to do out of country research but I've not seen many people up and move an entire family to another country for 6 months or less. That seems awful in just securing visas alone, especially for Ruby since she wouldn't be enrolled in a school of any kind.

And depending on what kind of lawyer Shari wants to be her Mormon bubble is going to be popped quick with real world stuff.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
I know several people who've taken year long sabbaticals (2 semesters + summer). They usually get sponsored by some local institution and getting a visa for Ruby shouldn't be a problem. I suppose he'd go to Rome so he can do more research in Amatrice (the town destroyed by the earthquake he visited before). Who knows.Agent7 wrote:

I would never let my young child, especially under 5, go into a restaurant looking like Evie did. Her hair was not only dirty and unkempt and fly away but the clothes looked slept in and her shoes on the wrong feet doesn't teach Evie anything but speaks volumes about the parent sitting at the table. Ruby is so backasswards on her thinking on raising her kids. She acts like 4 is grown enough to be responsible for everything to get them out the door yet she treats her and 6 yr old Russell like babies otherwise.
Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
I agree she is SUCH a know it all. She's going to be shocked when she realizes her limited view of the world and I don't think she'll become a lawyer either. I also have a hard time imagining anyone wanting to marry her. She isn't pretty like her aunts and she has a totally annoying personality. Her proposition of living alone with a bunch of hedgehogs may be more true than she wants it to be.janett345 wrote:I actually cannot believe that Shari walked out of Jumanji. This family is so crazy. Wow. She is a child. Yes, she’s annoying. Her parents are annoying and they reward her annoying behaviors. But she’s still just a 14 year old. Saying that nobody is going to marry her based on her personality at 14 and her looks is incredibly asinine.sugarpea wrote:I agree she is SUCH a know it all. Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
And ridiculous since we know she will easily be able to find a husband right out of high school if she wants. Her looks will also change, she's only 14. I don't like her but people have got to realize that her behavior is quite normal for her age. Most of us were like that, but we weren't on youtube.sasperillo wrote:Wow. She is a child. Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
^^ like Shari I also felt that intelligence was my strongest trait and I spent my teens reading philosophy and going to colloquia. I honestly thought I was better than the girls in my class who obsessed over boys and makeup. I’m sure I came across as snotty but luckily there are no videos of me poo-pooing the masses. I was mean to my mom who was honestly trying her best raining me alone and in poverty. I also had my moments of kindness and compassion and those weren’t captured either. As an adult I’m so happy that I’m not defined by who I was as a teen and I cringe when I meet long lost high school friends and they bring up how I was the teacher’s pet. My nephew is 16 and while he has a heart of gold his behavior can be pretty shitty at times (doesn’t care about school, rushes through meals so he can go play video games, has a generally careless attitude towards things). Once your prefrontal cortex fully develops and you get more experience with the world you tend to mellow out- this is true for all extreme teen behaviors that are not rooted in some type of pathology. Some of your personality sticks around during adulthood and some people just never grow up, but most of us become contributing members of society.

I really hate how they tried down play Black Panther as a movie. It’s actually a really great movie. I’ve seen it several time because it is THAT good. I’m sure there were a lot of codes/messages that they missed because they live in a box. They, along with Davey & his family, are the worst when it comes to cultural experiences. What a rough time they will have if they actually move out of the country...or out of Utah for that matter.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
i have this hard sense that Kevin nor Chad actually believe in god. or atleast chad seems to look like hes having doubts. i feel like there playing along because they live in a state where nearly everyone is Mormon and those who are not, are not treated well and are judged for it. so they remain believers to keep the family strong and not cause humiliation to the entire family and extended one.imagine if chad or Kevin had the balls to actually leave the church. there whole family would be shamed and cause so many problems for them. in fact could leave them being kicked out entirely. if he's making any sacrifices for his wife and family, it would be living a lie. chad i feel just because he's so young and social media opens you up to many ways of living. again the kids seem afraid to disappoint there parents. so i think he kind of just does it because there is no other option. i think the rest are hard core believers though. shari sits in her bed every night reading the bible for fun, and no atheist would ever do that lol. maybe they believe in god, but maybe they don't agree with the church. who knows? it's not like they would ever in a million years broadcast that publically because everyone in the church would find out and they need to keep this "perfect stepford wives image to their name"

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
Yes, I thought about that, too!
Someone in this thread mentioned the interviews teenagers (and tweens even) must have with bishops behind closed doors. There are countless horrible stories about those on www.protectldschildren.org
I wonder if Chad had his interview and I feel bad for him.
