I knew that would happen when she decided not to have a tv in their living room. It would have made more sense to have one in their main living area, but because her mom doesn't have a tv in her living room, Ellie can't either.nutbagmcgee wrote:Ellie spends so much time in bed because that is where the only TV is upstairs. They kill me, on Jared‘s Instagram story is talking about how tired he is he’s only gotten like seven hours of sleep the past couple nights. Total or each night?!??

Looking at the budget again, I find it fascinating that they would set $9k aside for taxes. I thought You Tubers deducted everything and didn't have to pay tax
They were also stupid to only save $3600 for retirement. My guess is they are counting the house value as retirement income because Dave Ramsey suggests you save 15% for retirement and E&J are only doing 7%. That's not going to get them far now that they are only making about $17k a month! But even if they stayed consistent and saved $3600 a month over their YT career, that isn't going to be enough for retirement. They were set to save less in a year than they spent in this month! That wouldn't go far. I'm guessing it's gone now that their income has dipped though....
I also don't think the whole $5k for parents is to just Jared's mom and dad or she wouldn't have written it like that. I think that is for Jennifer and Chad as well.

This was just a monthly budget right? So that's 9k a month they put back for taxes? So roughly a little less than 110k a year they put back to pay in on taxes. Very interesting, bc like you said, they should have TWICE that in deductions. lol (sorry i couldnt help myself, i won't start that bullshit again..lol)HelloSweetie wrote:Looking at the budget again, I find it fascinating that they would set $9k aside for taxes. I agree with this. I also think this dynamic is very interesting after seeing the way that Jared was so invested in/on top of training Penny. It kind of makes me think that, like, Calvin is Ellie's domain/territory, and Penny is Jared's...?Kryptonite wrote:I tend to think that Ellie loves Calvin's inability to speak (or speak clearly, at least) because he is more dependent on her. Plus, it makes him "special" to her and gains them sympathy.
However, she doesn't want to hear that two stay at home parents should have a child with better speech...
Jared, on the other hand, is pure laziness. He has to be smart enough to realize that Calvin should be speaking more. When Jared DOES talk to him, he asks him a question and then promptly answers for him.

I'm not fully giving myself credit for this, but I thought it was a little more than ironic that Ellie made it a point to show the Olaplex on yesterday's vlog, lol. I said, a while back (before she cut her hair), that she was in desperate need of some.
Granted, I'm sure it's not an uncommon product for a stylist to recommend to someone (I'm discrediting her as a stylist cause homegirl clearly don't know a damn thing lmao) but I thought it was funny how she made it a point to show it in the vlog.
Maybe her recent kindness toward Jackson and effort to appear happier is the result of her playing catch up on the threads? Maybe that's what she's been doing these past couple of weeks that she's been lying in bed all day?

Re: Ellie & Jared: So Tender, So Fun... | Part 32
I think Jareds Mom and Dad never knew the "True Ellie" until they moved closer. The realization started when Ellie was so rude while they were "dejunking" Craig and Tameras home. Once they moved closer they realized how awful she actually was they began distancing themselves from her. When they first moved they were together a ton, now we hardly see them and they don't share much with them. Also, Ellie doesn't seem as comfortable (calling them mom and dad) with them anymore.

Wait, how was she rude when they were helping them? I had not fully turned at that time yet, and I must've missed that. Haha. Please do tell. Re: Ellie & Jared: So Tender, So Fun... | Part 32
I can't recall exactly what language she used, but she was really dismissive of their things. Jared's parents had lived in that home for so long, raised a family there, and they'd held onto a lot of possessions that any self-respecting Griffiths sister would have trashed decades ago. There may have been something like a half-empty water bottle in the garage that had been there for years... Stuff like that. Her attitude struck me as being even nastier after the fact, when we learned that home had been foreclosed on.Boredomatitsfinest wrote: Wait, how was she rude when they were helping them? I remember Ellie's reaction to seeing Bonnie's overly-full and rather disorganized closet a while back... She implied there were bugs living in it, which I guess was a joke, but it looked to me like Bonnie was pretty ashamed of herself. She got that closet ship-shape ASAP (including decoratively-arranged jewelry and mementos).
Grandma Griff definitely set high expectations for her children in terms of taking care of their belongings and keeping every inch of the house 100% presentable at all times. It works to their advantage as YouTubers. Jared's parents don't seem to have ever made that a high priority. Considering Ellie's limited vocabulary and complete lack of tact or emotional intelligence, I can only wonder what else she said that didn't make it into the vlog.

^^^^ she was also very patronizing and condescending throughout and a lot of their things were referred to as "trash" or "garbage."
It was pretty terrible. Go back and read the thread from that time. We were just starting to see the light with E&J, but I remember people thinking they were being assholes.

I am far from an Ellie fan but I remember Jared being more rude about the whole "de-junking" than Ellie was. But I did notice Ellie wasn't helping much and she kept talking more about her family and her childhood when ever they would start reminiscing. Like let them have a moment my God lady your family wasn't the gold standard!!!!!!HelloSweetie wrote:^^^^ she was also very patronizing and condescending throughout and a lot of their things were referred to as "trash" or "garbage."

Talking about how her family did throngs better is exactly what I was referring to when I said she was patronizing and condescending. You're right, Jared was awful too. They BOTH talked about his parents like they were old and being moved into a retirement home.Kaylor1 wrote:I am far from an Ellie fan but I remember Jared being more rude about the whole "de-junking" than Ellie was. Have any of you ever moved a parent? My mom just moved and this was kinda how we treated her. She had avon lotions unopened and "from the 1900s" as my daughter said
She didnt want to get rid of anything until she got to her new place, so we were moving things that were literally trash.
Its true when they say, when you die your kids won't want your crap ..toss it

I have helped clean out my grandparents house and throw things away, but the difference is that E&J were publicly embarrassing and patronizing them.onbreak wrote:Have any of you ever moved a parent? Re: Ellie & Jared: So Tender, So Fun... | Part 32
But that was within your family. Yes, I have moved a parent. A parent with dementia, who wanted to keep _everything_. I never would have talked that way to her on a video being uploaded to the internet for thousands of people to see so I could make money. They profited off of humiliating Jared's parents. I get rolling your eyes and asking why on Earth your mom needs some of the junk older people who have lived somewhere a long time hang onto. But that's within the family. Not put out for public consumption. And they didn't do it in a way that was likely to help someone else going through the situation. It was laughing at his parents during a sad, stressful time in their lives. For views.onbreak wrote:Have any of you ever moved a parent? My mom just moved and this was kinda how we treated her. We recently moved my mother in law and it was a nightmare, she had about 75 old DVD player remotes, school books from her kids from 1994, old flip phones etc.. so much crap! And she wouldn’t throw a single thing away, it’s so frustrating moving junk from one house to the next.onbreak wrote:Have any of you ever moved a parent? But as others have said, you’d never shame them publicly. We joked about my MIL’s house amongst ourselves and gave her crap about it but I wouldn’t put it on YouTube.
Imagine if Jared’s parents friends or people from their church had seen the vlogs Ellie and Jared put out from that time, that would be so embarrassing for them. It was one of the first times we really saw Ellie and Jared’s nasty sides come out.

Re: Ellie & Jared: So Tender, So Fun... | Part 32
This is so true! This is why I just don’t enjoy E&J vlogs anymore. It is like they are so lazy or they are so done vlogging that instead of pulling out the camera to show you what they are doing they tell the viewers. There is nothing in their vlogs that is keeping them fresh and new. Ellie is forcing the happy faces, you can tell she is miserable, everything is so on the surface and fake. I have noticed this trend with a lot of family vloggers they get in a rut and think they are making great content but it is just boring and uninspired. Even DailyBumps seem to be tanking in new subs. You know what I used to Love about the old Ellie and Jared, they were so relatable. They lived in a nice rental, did fun activities, had friends over, did play dates. Stuff that all of us do. Then they started making more money and Ellie started buying expensive clothes, giving each other expensive gifts, moving into a new home completely furnished with new furniture, buying a new camper and the largest hot tub they could find. All of a sudden they are out of the league of their target audience and it made them and in relatable and unenjoyable to watch. Ok those are my thoughts for the day!! Lol!!HelloSweetie wrote:I think the problem with E&J is all the preaching and talking all the time. They no longer show us what they did all day, they tell us. We don't see they are good people, they tell us they are! Around the time Cal was born vlogs stopped making sense. They would say things like they weren't going to start looking at houses for another 6 months, and then only days later were looking at houses. With their vlogs I always feel like I've missed a vlog. Jared does all his explaining, and still I never have any idea what they are doing. Bonnie and Ruby have predictability. They still have simple hours and family centric lives. E&J are just different.
