And apparently the dad has the same condition??
Also who is this spokeswoman and why will she not allow the mother and father of this child tell his story?? She's very.. overbearing.. She barely lets the parents talk about their own child.

Yeah, it doesn't add up at all. Pill prescription abuse is at record highs for Mormons in Utah - Lisa Ling did a documentary on it - so I'm NOT buying their story at all. Poor kid.Playsinrain wrote:I don't understand why they act like they have no idea whats going on with Andy, but yet they name off his condition several times in the video. He doesn't have some mystery illness that they are trying to figure out, he has opioid withdrawals and whatever the name of the condition was (sorry, i don't know the fancy medical term they said). So why exactly are they calling on Ellie and Jared to find someone like him? The dr's certainly know of other children like him or he wouldnt have a diagnosis. I hope the best for the family and that little boy but something doesn't add up.whatashitshow wrote:The story was really hard to follow. They met them at CVX and Vid Summit.
The little boys mom was in a car accident and found out she was 3.5 weeks pregnant from a blood draw in the ER after the accident, then they talk about how she needed emergency surgery for appendicitis or she would lose the baby. Then it goes back to the Grandma (I think) talking about how the little boys mom had to be on prescription opioids because of the pain during pregnancy. I am not sure if that means she didn't get the surgery. So the drugs led the baby to go through withdrawals. And he would just cry and scream because of it. Some family member turned on E&J's video and this was the only thing that would stop the newborn from crying. He also had some other diagnosis, sorry I can't remember the name but he had extra skin around his larynx so crying all the time could have killed him....
The grandma said the little boy stops breathing "27 times a night". His brain isn't signaling his brain to breathe and sometimes his heart to beat. It sounds like he doesn't have a specific diagnosis at this time. Also, the family has a YouTube channel.
Jared says they are there because they have an audience and sharing might help them find another child with similar symptoms. I didn't see Jackson & Calvin interact with the little boy, I actually don't remember seeing them at the house. I would have to re-watch but I'm not going to.
It is just such an ODD video. I don't understand why everything has to be exploited. Someone else might be able to summarize better. It was just really hard to follow and I was already pissed about it.

That doesn't mean they had to do it though. Or not this way. I think there is a way to seriously bring awareness to a cause, without being exploitative and overly dramatic.MommaLindsey2 wrote:I don't know it seems to me that this family is kind of weird. They have their own YouTube channel and I think they begged Ellie and Jared to do this.HelloSweetie wrote:I guess exploiting other people's stories and struggles is there thing now that they are so boring? Sounds like this family is using E&J to bring awareness to their channel. They remind me of Life With the Js and how they've been Daily Bumps #1 minions for years. If your channel becomes based around your child's health issues, I don't think that makes you as incentivized to find a cure.
I hated the title wording more than the picture "this boy may not survive. " Jared was totally going for clickbait drama there.

She's the grandmother, the mother of the father I believe. I'm trying to figure out if she is the one raising him or the parents.Playsinrain wrote:And apparently the dad has the same condition??

I feel for the little boy because he is clearly sick and has had a rough start to his life. That being said, something seems off about his family. The grandma (I think?) seemed angry and like she had an attitude the entire time she was talking, she was very intense. They were also all over the place with the story of what happened to Andy and his mother, and I'm still not completely sure what all happened and what he has now. It also rubs me the wrong way that they have a YouTube channel. This was a very strange video, and it screams exploitation to me.

They definitely could have posted that video without monetizing it. That's disgusting.ewokfan11 wrote:They are truly DISGUSTING! Monetizing a video about a sick kid and that title??!!! FFS, Ellie and Jared are literally terrible people!! I think they do these things to just get views and they don't give a shit about the other people.
And Ellie and Jared's "audience" isn't that huge to begin with. They may have a bunch of subscribers, but their videos get around 100-150K views. That's not exactly reaching out to the world.

Can someone look up the tags? I'm curious if the condition is even listed and therefor searchable for other families.

I never thought there could be another human more obnoxiously annoying than shay Carl. Good job Jared- you have him beat by miles.
He gives me the heebie jeebies. I like to think I have a pretty good sense of character. Jared is hiding something- something is off with him.
Ellies cold demeanour (especially considering her families intense sensitivity) is so strange.

Re: Ellie & Jared: So Tender, So Fun... | Part 32
Makes me wonder if this is all stemming from her opioid use while she was pregnant. I'm not shaming the mother for doing what she had to do while pregnant, but it could all be birth defects from the medications. (and genetics, since the father has the same conditions)ewokfan11 wrote:Yeah, it doesn't add up at all. Ellie is the coldest, most insensitive bitch on the planet. She has zero emotion unless it's about herself.Kjr123 wrote:I never thought there could be another human more obnoxiously annoying than shay Carl. Good job Jared- you have him beat by miles.

Re: Ellie & Jared: So Tender, So Fun... | Part 32
Right?... Why would she not allow them to talk about their child? Is the mother still addicted to pills? Could they possibly not have custody of him bc of that and thats the reason they have basically nothing to say about things that have happened in the past bc they were not there? Or is she just being an overbearing grandmother who knows better than even the parents?MommaLindsey2 wrote:She's the grandmother, the mother of the father I believe. She seems very overbearing and it's hard to tell from the channel but I'm pretty sure mom and dad have custody. The channel is mostly the grandmother and her youngest daughter who is homeschooled and has some kind of seizure disorder.Playsinrain wrote:Right?... This is just my opinion, and I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I get the impression that the mother is still on Percocet (which is highly addictive) and she spent hours watching Ellie and Jared for hours because SHE can't sleep either. Laryngomalacia is actually very common, and is congenital, and given how involved that mother seems to be in things, I would assume she would know this. What they said about it being a rare condition with few doctors, is absolutely false. In most cases it rectifies itself. The Laryngomalacia doesn't seem to be his primary issue though, in my opinion it's the opiate addiction. Opioids mess this your dopomaine and serotonin production and withdrawal is actually your bodies response to this. Its even possible that Andy (or his mom) aren't able to produce these on their own anymore, and will require meds to stimulate production (Methadone). This isn't the doctors fault he has issues, it's the parents who chose to have him knowing he was at risk for a congenital disease that his own father struggled with, and his mother who chose to take Percocet knowing the risks. Giving birth to a drug addicted baby would be the last option for me and I'm surprised any doctor encouraged that over surgery and/or a pain pump anaesthetic.Playsinrain wrote: Right?... I'm no doctor, but I am in the medical field, and that story is full of BS as far as I'm concerned. Also, E&J didn't need to make it a video of theirs and could have instead had a normal visit with the family, and mentioned it in passing and told them to go check out their channel for the full story. Everything from Jared's fake seriousness at the beginning, to the dramatic music had a "On a very special episode..." type feel to it.
Did anyone else watch Big Brother? The Grandma reminds me of Raven's mom and we all know how many issues Raven has I feel like Andy will get better and Grandma will find something else wrong with him that the doctors are missing.

I'm wondering what people think-- is it a deliberate attempt to cover up the truth or is it a case of really not understanding the medical diagnosis/situation fully? I feel like a similar thing is going on with another youtube family and I am not sure what to make of it. In any case, how E&J exploited it was appalling!

Re: Ellie & Jared: So Tender, So Fun... | Part 32
I think the grandmother is just like The Jay's mom and is using Andy's illness for attention. Some people try to give their kids a normal life and don't define them by their illnesses, and I bet this Grandmother isn't one of them. I think she was a special needs mother and now she's a SN grandmother. I don't think she was angry telling the story. I think she was manic because she was excited for the spotlight.natalka81 wrote:I'm wondering what people think-- is it a deliberate attempt to cover up the truth or is it a case of really not understanding the medical diagnosis/situation fully? Yeah, there is a lot missing about "Andy's story." I felt some Munchausen syndrome by proxy vibes and also drug addiction.
I'm wondering if Jared's dad was the one who met the family at the conference in LA - and he pushed the meeting in Utah. Very weird in general. The family is just looking for attention.

Like Munchausen syndrome by proxy? There are so many things that seem off in this story.menehune wrote:This is just my opinion, and I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I get the impression that the mother is still on Percocet (which is highly addictive) and she spent hours watching Ellie and Jared for hours because SHE can't sleep either. I don't understand the whole opiates while pregnant thing, to the point of having an addicted baby. They use methadone for chronic pain management as well as addiction treatment, and its use in pregnant women has been well documented. So choosing Percocet for pain management in a pregnant woman seems weird. My doctor gave me Tylenol with codeine for horrible back pain when I was pregnant, but I managed not to have an addicted baby. Because my doctor monitored me really closely. Not judging, just curious.

Ellie & Jared: So Tender, So Fun... | Part 32
You don't think this woman is wack, watch this video. Her daughters seizure disorder which was supposed to kill her as soon as she hit puberty was cured because of god, prayer, and a chiropractor.
