I actually feel like this is the most genuine version of Oscar we've ever seen. I honesty hope he does find something he's passionate about and does go back to work so if they do decide to quit YouTube, they have a source of income. They need that for the kids.

I agree I liked the video to! I think how Oscar is feeling makes sense and I can tell he just has a hard expressing himself but I like that he is going to go out and find something he loves.Ilovecats wrote:I actually really liked that video.

Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
Oscar is so much more likeable when he’s mellow and normal.
I think a big part of the problem for Oscar is boredom. Being home day in and day out is mundane and boring, especially with 2 little kids who need routine. I think finding a job and getting out of the house will give him purpose and motivation. He is really young so I don’t think him not knowing what career he wants is that big of a deal but he needs to do something. Even if he only stays in the job for a little while until he finds what he wants to do. And then he will find the time he is at home a lot more enjoyable, I think.
I enjoyed the vlogs a lot more when Kyra was the main vlogger back when they lived in Montana and Oscar was working, so hopefully this relaunch will go back to that sort of vibe.

I agree. It seemed like he almost felt ashamed that he has this dream job with a ton of money rolling in from it but it’s not made him totally happy. And that’s fine, he doesn’t have to pick one job and stick to it. I hope he does find a job that makes him feel he has a purpose.ckks wrote:I actually feel like this is the most genuine version of Oscar we've ever seen. Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I’m really interested to see what passion Oscar finds now that he is actively searching for something to do. I know he likes fitness so maybe he will do something with that. I think its going to be interesting.

Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I feel like this is about the third time they have said this, like they have felt uninspired or admitted that Oscar was becoming obsessed with video games so much that he couldn't do his job or was too obsessed with getting the perfect shot and making the vlogs perfect...it's the same damn thing every time they do this relaunch stuff. I think they need a break or they're just going to end up making a huge mistake and hurting their family.

Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I think a career in fitness would suit Oscar too. He talks about wanting to help people and he has an interest in fitness. I’m a personal trainer and it’s really rewarding. Watching people achieve their goals, lose weight, gain muscle, lift heavier, gain confidence.doveminibites wrote:I’m really interested to see what passion Oscar finds now that he is actively searching for something to do. Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I was shocked at how they handled this video and what they talked about. One, it was very mature and two, they weren’t complaining. The best thing about them being so young is that they can now figure out what they can do alongside (or without) YouTube. I think Oscar would do great with a job outside of YouTube. And I liked how Oscar pointed out that there was some luck in how their channel grew so fast because there are YouTubers who have doing it for years and have yet to hit 500k subscribers.
Personally, I think they both need to explore who they are outside of being parents to Levi and Alaya and being YouTubers. I personally think daily blogging just isn’t for them. I think if they had a set schedule it would work for them and more people would watch because it gives them time to edit and not just live each day or worry every minute that they need to vlog their entire day everyday.

Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I think Oscar is burnt out and frustrated. They’re both so young to be playing House, does he even have friends or a life outside ‘Okbaby’?
Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I appreciated the honesty in the vlog and wish Oscar well, and hope he soon finds a job. That way he can also meet new people and make new friends, all contributing to a more wholesome life. Also good that he feels that he's now spending more quality time with the kids.
Since Kyra is happy to drive the creative content etc, and knowing that YT is a taxing job, she should consider a different uploading schedule to once or twice a week, than having the stress that comes with daily vlogging and uploading, otherwise it won't be long before she falls behind. I wonder what happened to school/university? If she's to have enough time to focus on that too and do well, she really needs to balance her time between the demands of parenting, running a home, studying and vlogging. Since views aren't a priority, then no need for unnecessary daily pressure.. Right?

Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I think taking over the vlogs has given kyra a real sense of purpose now too. She’s been pumping the vlogs out really well since she took over and has managed to go from being a week behind to all caught up. I hope she is prioritising school work with the vlogs. They do have someone come watch the kids 3 days a week so hopefully that helps her keep up with school work. At least with kyras more simple editing style it won’t take her 8+ hours to edit a vlog like it took Oscar.

I think it’ll be good for Oscar to have routine, some purpose and he’ll be able to socialise if he has a job.. I honestly think he misses some of his old social life and that’s okay... I’m glad they’re admitting where they went wrong and just being honest with their subscribers.it makes me understand why their channel was like that for a year...
I respect them a lot more now, and I actually think this change will be a positive thing for them...

I have to say (and it’s a little hard for me to admit this) that I’m proud of them in this video. I’m glad they really acknowledged how lucky they got.

Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
This video made me respect them so much more.. I am so glad they admitted a lot of the things we have been saying on here. It was very obvious Oscar was putting on a horrible act for the camera and they both were falling out of love with vlogging. I totally understand how the pressure of YouTube could change them and how it would be very tough feeling like you need to put on an act to be successful. I am very glad they admitted it and that Oscar is going to find a career for himself (hopefully). They have definitely matured lately and this video was very mature of them. Very glad they put this out! They still annoy me of course, but this video definitely made them seem more human and relatable.

Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I don't understand how this is going to make vlogging easier for them though.. Kyra is in school, she's taking care of the kids, and now she's going to be doing the vlogging and the editing full time too? They'll fall behind again VERY quickly.
Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I actually really liked this video. However, I think this is the main point people try to make when they say that youtube is not a sustainable long term job. O and K have found themselves in a situation where they’ve created a lifestyle revolving around a job that will make them go crazy. They’re unable to remove themselves from this life completely because they’re totally dependent on the money. It’s a vicious cycle. It’s inevitable that Kyra will get burned out at some point as well, and then what? Hopefully they’re setting themselves up to where they can quit YouTube or severely lessen the load, and live a wholesome life. I know people say they envy youtubers, but it’s just no way to live.

So now Kyra has to vlog, edit, do school work and be the main care taker for the kids? I know she has help but it's still a lot to do. I hope Oscar finds his passion but it really isn't fair to Kyra. Hopefully he will still help out with he vlog a bit.

I only watched about half of the video but I’m glad O admitted he wasn’t passionate about Youtube anymore, even though it’s been pretty obvious. I’m also glad he wants to try to find another job, I just hope he realizes finding a job that is fulfilling and pays enough to support their lifestyle isn’t as easy as he made it sound

Re: OkOscarSleepsAllDay
I've been lurking around here for a while, but now I really had to say that I'm extremely glad how all of you reacted to this video. I'm not an OKbaby fan but they have been my guilty pleasure for quite some time and when I was frustrated with all the stupid comments on Youtube, I found this forum and it was much more interesting for me. However, you always managed to find a flaw in everything they were doing, while the "Bug Buddies" were unconditionally in love with them. Now I can see many comments on Youtube bitching about the exact same things they said people would be bitching about, while you understood what they were saying. This proves this forum isn't filled with mean people, but with rational people, which I love
