Re: E+J:
MommaLindsey2 thank you for info regarding Jackson and Calvin's ages. It helped explain where Jackson is at.
As for Calvin, sadly I just watched Brooks from Cullen & Katie. Brooks is only 15 months old and he shows more language development then Calvin. Very sad and worrisome

I think Calvin has always had a decent ability to understand and follow direction, however I differ in opinion about his speech. I see he is thinking and trying but the words are not coming out.natalka81 wrote:Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I feel like there's actually been a noticeable improvement in Calvin's development recently. I agree that his speech is very behind still, but he seems more engaged with the family, and is following directions pretty well too. I hope they look into the speech and communication stuff, though, and get him the intervention he needs in order to meet his full potential. Jackson also seems to be growing a lot these days too, maturing a lot and becoming more charming than ever!

They are just being more clever with their editing. If you follow E&J on social media there are still a lot of behavioural and communication popping uo in their IG stories.snkjdgs wrote:I think Calvin has always had a decent ability to understand and follow direction, however I differ in opinion about his speech. I wouldn't be surprised. Just like B&M and their pool. You rush workers like that and don't listen to them, you get shoddy results.HelloSweetie wrote:Didn't Ellie rush everyone because she wanted to be in there so bad? Maybe they told her the wood hadn't acclimated enough yet and she demanded they install it anyway?FakingIt_MakingIt wrote:Yeah, Id say their flooring guy did a poor job.
The flooring is separating in places! Id be ticked. I have hardwood, and we are putting it in our new build too, that's not common.

Although I agree calvin is behind on speech I may also be an unpopular opinion but I have a feeling that he will be caught up by the time he is 3 in six months. Just from my own mom friends and mom groups, people get on the speech therapy train really soon (and I agree early intervention is very helpful) but it wasn’t like this years ago. And out of the moms I know who were concerned about their 2 year olds slower speech development, always said by the time their LO was 3 they caught on to speech and there was no longer a delay! So mostly everyone I know advises to just hold out until age 3. I know it might not be the popular practice and obviously if there is a really major development delay get an assessment. I just think Ellie and Jared suck at interacting and teaching their kids.

Re: E+J:
The way the floors are pulling apart, I'm almost certain they didn't let the wood acclimate long enough. I do remember Ellie pushing to be able to move in faster so maybe that's why. Didn't Bonnie get her floors done at the same time as Ellie was having that part of the house built? Has Bonnie mentioned any issues? I thought the same floor people did it.

Hi
I'm new to posting here although I have been reading for a few months.
I once loved watching E+J but not I just cringe.
Seriously they are so flipping stupid. I can't stand that they think they know everything and when the say it on camera and explain an answer im like you are so stupid.
Like Jared today brought up the floors and pointed out that the place where the rug is was a different colour to the floors and said the rug didn't get much foot traffic... seriously you idiot it's a different tone because no light has been on it so it darkens.
They are just getting dumber and dumber

Yes. The same guy did Bonnie and Ellie's floors. And unless I've missed it, no issues from Bonnie.Pency wrote:The way the floors are pulling apart, I'm almost certain they didn't let the wood acclimate long enough. The floors separating is definitely not normal wear and tear, or caused by penny.

That's why evaluations are important. My daughter _needed_ help at 18 months. She was nowhere near where she was supposed to be. And I mentioned it to her doctor, and we got her evaluated, and she got early intervention. She wasn't one of those kids who started speaking in sentences as soon as she turned 3, although we hoped for it. A lot of kids do that, I know, but if you get them evaluated by a _good_ SLP, they can generally tell if there's an underlying issue, or if the child is just a "late bloomer". Generally. And Calvin is 2 1/2, right?gymchick43 wrote:Although I agree calvin is behind on speech I may also be an unpopular opinion but I have a feeling that he will be caught up by the time he is 3 in six months. And do you know how many stories people told me about their cousin's friend's nephew's girlfriend who had a kid who was averbal and suddenly quoting Shakespeare at 3? When I was struggling with my daughter, I know they were just trying to help, but I got SO tired of it. Not arguing with you, just venting, lol.

I definitely think Bonnie takes better care of her belongings, she takes a lot of pride in her home. I think their floor issues have a lot to do with the fact that Ellie wanted to move in instantly and the floors didn’t acclimate (as others have said). I remember when Bonnie was renovating she wouldn’t let anyone walk on the floors for quite awhile, I remember them leaping over the floors onto the stairs to go down into the basement.FakingIt_MakingIt wrote:Yes. Didn't they also have the wood sitting in the living room for days before installation? I swear I remember Joel commenting that it needed to adjust.staceybrax wrote:I definitely think Bonnie takes better care of her belongings, she takes a lot of pride in her home. If I remember right this was around the same time Ellie was freaking out because they were already a month behind schedule with the house and she was starting to bitch about how everyone was doing things wrong.

Poor Penny, throwing her under the bus. She's staying mostly outside anyways and it's not like they're the only people who have a dog.

I know his neck hasn’t been brought up in awhile... has anyone noticed any issues with that lately/still?

There was a video posted the other day where you could see it still looked very tight on the right side. Can't remember whose IG story it was though. If I were his parent, I'd still be seeking treatment.calliepaige84 wrote:I know his neck hasn’t been brought up in awhile... has anyone noticed any issues with that lately/still?

No I totally understand where you are coming from, that’s why I knew my opinion would be unpopular. I think it’s because in my area private speech therapy is super expensive so any parent who wants it is usually put on a year long waitlist for the public government funded therapy, so that’s why I feel like I’m just surrounded by a bunch of moms who had their 2 year olds on the waitlist and then come their 3rd birthday they were speaking loads and ended up not needing the therapy. I just have a feeling calvin will be one of those kids, I think it’s just poor parenting/interaction and treating him like a baby for so long, but I could be wrong for sure! I totally get how it would be frustrating if your daughter did need it and people were telling you not to worry. 18 months is early for an assessment so good for you for noticing and following your gut! My 18 month old was pretty behind at that age and I was a bit worried, she didn’t say “mama” until she turned 2 basically. But now she’s a little chatter box so I’m not too worried anymore.lmmomSD wrote:That's why evaluations are important. My daughter _needed_ help at 18 months.
