Aaryn Williams SwipeUp: Part 2
Re: Aaryn Williams SwipeUp: Part 2
I will add I think the iPad in every car ride skyla takes is a bit strange- but I guess some kids are terrible in their car seats and at that young distracting them is your best bet for being able to drive safely without hearing the screaming. Luckily (after my LO colic) she became a dream in the car seat for me.

Re: Aaryn Williams SwipeUp: Part 2
Idk i have a ten month old and have never had to use technology to distract him yet. I also dont even own a tablet so the temptation is not there.
Aaryn doesn't let skyla use the ipad all day im sure but that's only because she has the tv on for her all day . That toddler has way too much screen time

I thought the same way and never ate my words...When child gets fussy it is time to leave, There is nothing fun about subjecting your child to electronics before they should ever even see them.I'm the one holding the three year old giving you judgy looks for letting your kid play with an Ipad,Because mine has only ever watched two movies on mine and that was because we where in the car for 12 hours evacuating for a hurricane.Granted,It is not my child by birth,he is my nephew and i have him all week every week because his mother works a job that prohibits her being around much and shes always on business trips.gymchick43 wrote:You will probably eat your own words. I think it’s so rude when I get judgey looks for my 2 year old being on an iPad while I’m at the mall. I only take it out once I can tell she’s starting to get bored and fussy waiting around. She’s not on it all day, and of course even if it’s just for 30 minutes kids will be attached- because ipads are different and fun. My LO is always asking for more time but I limit it based on my own judgement and only use it for long shopping trips, doctor office waits and if I need to get ready and out the door and my child is being super needy. I’m sure aaryn doesn’t let her have it all day. Also the apps can be educational, idk what Aaryn uses, but my 2 yo knows every shape, colour, alphabet, season, body part, animal with the help of a few matching game apps. As a person who routinely has a three year old with them, the color wonder books (They're coloring books but the markers are just water that mke the color appear on the page) are AMAZING for this.gymchick43 wrote:I will add I think the iPad in every car ride skyla takes is a bit strange- but I guess some kids are terrible in their car seats and at that young distracting them is your best bet for being able to drive safely without hearing the screaming. Wow you admit to giving other mothers judgy looks? Ew that’s really disgusting of you’re character. You’re probably the type of person who gives overweight people judgy looks for eating something non-health too eh? My child is quiet advanced cognitively, very social, active little sweetheart who I apparently “subject” to using electronics. Get off your high horse. A little screen time so I can get some shopping done is not a big deal, I’m not dropping everything to leave just because my child is getting fussy. It’s hard enough to find the time in my work schedule to make a shopping trip. Im working 60-70 hours a week as a nurse on a busy unit, 19 weeks pregnant, meal prep weekly and I try to spend every waking minute when I’m not at work with my child, wether I’m at the park with her or god forbid subjecting her to a long shopping trip. And my child enjoys the screen time I allow, and it lets her keep up with the times to develop that technical part of the brain when it comes to computers. Next time you see a mom with a child using an electronic maybe find some empathy and give her a smile? Because she is allowing herself a calm moment out of her busy working mom (or SAHM) life.TheOneWhoBlogs wrote:I thought the same way and never ate my words...When child gets fussy it is time to leave, There is nothing fun about subjecting your child to electronics before they should ever even see them.I'm the one holding the three year old giving you judgy looks for letting your kid play with an Ipad,Because mine has only ever watched two movies on mine and that was because we where in the car for 12 hours evacuating for a hurricane.Granted,It is not my child by birth,he is my nephew and i have him all week every week because his mother works a job that prohibits her being around much and shes always on business trips.gymchick43 wrote:You will probably eat your own words. I'm not on a high horse,I just have a very old fashioned parenting sense.Whilst i pass judgement,I'm sure plenty of people pass judgement on me for random/stupid things. And as someone who IS overweight,Yeah,no,That's not how i am.I believe that the AAP reccomendations are okay enough (Given you actually do things with them on the device ACTIVELY,And dont look away) But they're not really good enough in my opinion. You can look away for SECONDS and your child could easily find any number of things on that device that are NOT child friendly by any stretch,If you are watching the screen the entire time with them,It is fine,However,Whenever i see most people in stores,They are not even paying any mind to the child.a calm moment is not worth your young child finding pornographic material or anything that they should not be seeing. If you can use any type of lock to keep them on one thing (that they cannot remove) that's okay enough,But once again,I dont really think children under 4-5 should be allowed to touch or really 'use' any smart devices.

Re: Aaryn Williams SwipeUp: Part 2
Is anybody else freaked out over the christmas tree in the infant child's room?
Or even just the christmas tree in the bedroom in general?
I do not understand this. A child's room should be one place that they are 100% safe in,In my opinion...

I don't understand the new trend with putting a Christmas tree in your child's room. I have never had a tree in my room, and the only tree we had in the house was in the living room.
I've seen more moms than just Aaryn do this too. It seems to be the new YouTube and Instagram mom thing to do.

But i also get the giant hallmark REAL tree and it stands in our living room with pride and a whole lot of ornaments that i probably spent too much on ( I bought them when i first moved out,They're potterybarn.I'd never but such expensive ornaments again considering they are glass and i feel that a baby gate around the tree just takes away from it when you put as much effort into it as i do Then again,we do 'dry run' presents around here....wrapped boxes thatre empty.Real gifts go in the back and the wrapped, decorated boxes go proppe in the front so if the toddler gets it,Its fine,ITs just an empty box.and by then, they can be caught and hopefully stopped.

Re: Aaryn Williams SwipeUp: Part 2
You can’t just leave places whenever kids get fussy. That’s unreasonable. Sometimes the show needs to go on, even when your kid isn’t 100 percent on board. Idk, my kid doesn’t watch a tablet (mostly because I’m poor and can’t afford one ha) but I sure as hell don’t judge other moms for using them, especially if the kid is enjoying themselves.TheOneWhoBlogs wrote:I thought the same way and never ate my words...When child gets fussy it is time to leave, There is nothing fun about subjecting your child to electronics before they should ever even see them.I'm the one holding the three year old giving you judgy looks for letting your kid play with an Ipad,Because mine has only ever watched two movies on mine and that was because we where in the car for 12 hours evacuating for a hurricane.Granted,It is not my child by birth,he is my nephew and i have him all week every week because his mother works a job that prohibits her being around much and shes always on business trips.gymchick43 wrote:You will probably eat your own words. Whenever I get judgmental of some one else (especially a mom) I remind myself that in most cases, the mom is just doing her best and the kid is gonna end up completely normal and fine.

Aaryn shoves that iPad infront of Skyla quite often to make her quiet, along with the paci.... and tv.
The tree is Skylas room is so uncesssary and such a fire hazard.

Re: Aaryn Williams SwipeUp: Part 2
I found it weird that Skyla HAS to watch the iPad for every single car ride. And you know it's for EVERY car ride because Aaryn wouldn't have even mentioned not having the iPad for that specific ride if it wasn't an all the time thing. Kind of ridiculous for a 17 month old to need a movie to watch for every short car ride. I mean, her toys and even her paci should suffice. In my opinion it's starting really bad habits, but I guess you do what you have to do...

I had a small tree in my room as a child. I loved it. But I was also a child and not a toddler.

Aaryn's lips in the beginning of recent video look so ridiculous and over plumped. She can barely close her mouth!! Cryla is still whining because Aaryn can't give her a cracker fast enough and the paci is in 24/7 it appears. Aaryn complaining about being so tired trying to get ready to go out with Nick not home to care for Skyla. What the hell is this woman going to do when a newborn gets added to the mix. Yaya better plan on staying for a month to help her. She said her Mom is coming for Thanskgiving as well to help with all the cooking.

See,If you are not an infant or toddler,I can understand it,But this tree was over 100 Dollars,And this was a FULL SIZED Tree (Or at least,in my mind? ) I can get a small tree in a kids or teenagers room,But if your child isnt old enough or mature enough to understand that the tree can be an outright Hazard,It should not be there.formerctfxcer wrote:I had a small tree in my room as a child. Has anyone else noticed the tongue thing she is constantly doing? I can't explain it well but when she talks she will lick her lips but she does it in such a noticeable way that her whole tongue comes out. It's been bothering me for awhile lol. She just started this a few months ago.
