But aren't people voting again this year? Wasn't the deal last year that they picked the "most compelling" couples and then people voted? Makes me queasy just thinking about it.

Jared is no prize himself, jared actually said he had really horrible teeth growing up that affected his self esteem I believe?

They know the attention they'll receive off of this. They CRAVE the spotlight (and money, of course).
Oh, and maybe they'll get another "award" like last year, and she can show up all glowingly pregnant to an affair put on by the infertility community. She would loooove that!

Oh, she'd be in all of her glory! After all, she did bring one of her sons when she met the IVF grant winners the first time along with bringing him to the infertility race thing. Insensitive time to show off that she's able to have kids yet cries about her infertility.

I do appreciate them changing things this year with the whole voting. And I hope a deserving couple gets this grant. Other than that I don't really this being bigger or better than last year. Only 4 grants versus 7 from last year? Its like this was an after thought because they knew they needed to do something to try to top last year but it fell short and they didn't have any other ideas.

That's probably why they do it. It's ok to be an insensitive and selfish person as long as you have one good thing to point at for proof of why you're a good person....

Does it drive anyone else crazy that they call it a "giveaway". I find that so gross! Like "hey guys we're giving away a potential pregnancy!". I don't know. When we are talking about human beings as the "prize" it makes my skin crawl. Leave it at "ivf grant". No "giveaway" needed

Remember, to the less educated person who may not be aware of this. Although it seems so kind and generous that they do an IVF giveaway, they are only doing it because it allows them to deduct what they donate from their massive tax bill for the year. They are not really giving any of their money away. If they did not do this they would just pay more money in to uncle sam. That is why most wealthy people donate large amounts of money at the end of the year. It's sad because they act like they are such wonderful people and they really want recognition for it.

Exactly and this is why all of the younger minions eat this up. They don't realize, or don't want to realize, that it is not as generous on Ellie and Jared's part due to this and also because of the selfish reasoning behind their part.

my eyes have rolled out of my head, out the door, and down the hill. I will never get them back. Some people do things for genuine reasons, some for tax reasons, some for their God complex, sadly I believe these two only do them for the last two.

I don't understand all the hate they get for this.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but there will always be a "loser" in every single contest in the world. Everyone who enters KNOWS this. The potential to not win is there. I don't see how it's such a controversial thing?

They're giving four people the opportunity to start a family. I think that's amazing.

Explain to me why it's so wrong? I am genuinely curious.

I know they pick the winners and people are up in arms about that too, like how can THEY determine who is "most worthy" for the grant? Well, it's their money they're donating, so it's ultimately their decision who they want to give it to. Whether is based on video quality, sob story, etc. It is 100% their choice and once again, all participants are aware of that. Of course everyone deserves the opportunity, but we don't live in a fairytale world where everyone can win. Only 4 people can.

sorry for the blank post. It’s because they literally make a lot of money off of it. It doesn’t cost them a penny and they make it like it does. Also how do you go from saying unfollow me if you don’t like bump pics, to this. Way to pat yourselves on the back E & J.

We talked about this last year when they did it the first time. They get hate for a few reasons.
Yes, it is great that a few families are getting an opportunity that they might not have otherwise. But nobody believes that they are doing this simply out of the goodness of their hearts. They could just donate to a clinic for grants if that's all they wanted to do. But they are benefitting from this. They're getting subscribers and views, and all kinds of attention for it. Plus, of course, the tax write-off. And the way they did it last year was skeevy. It was a Pain Olympics. Putting these people on display in all their grief over not conceiving, or conceiving and losing babies, for viewers to vote on, was so sickening. And you can bet Ellie is hoping for another award from the infertility community, so she can go accept it in all her pregnant glory. She is not infertile. I am not sure she ever was.. I think she was just clueless about how her body works.
On the surface, it looks wonderful. But Ellie and Jared never do anything "nice" without an ulterior motive. Ellie even said she gets mad when Jared is nice to others (meaning other than her). And they could have just donated to a clinic quietly, and not made this huge deal out of it.

Yes, I agree with ImmomSD. If they truly just wanted to make a donation to a couple who's suffering IF, they would just contact a clinic and do it. I don't think Ellie or Jared have ever truly felt what it's like to really be infertile. They just don't have the sensitivity and if they had, they would just help people without making a big deal out of it.

Not to mention it's not really them who are giving it away and paying for it. In fact, they're for the most part just 'organizing' the event, but are taking all the credit. Suppose a 100 couples send in a video, which is 100 x $20 = $2000, which goes to that certain non-profit organization (sorry, forgot the name), and is payed by the couples collectively, of whom 99 don't get anything in return, like paying for a lottery ticket.

I don't know how much one IVF round costs, but E&J are adding a little money if needed, at best. Which later on is tax reducible. Also, depending on which couple does finally win the grant, the amount of money that is needed for the IVF, varies. Jared 'explained' that if the winning couple happens to live nearby an IVF-center that doesn't do all the procedures needed for one (1) full IVF-round, only the procedures that are being done (executed?) by that particular IVF-center are being payed for. All procedures that have to take place in a different medical center, the winning couple has to pay for themselves...

Also note that the non-profit organization is organizing the money coming in and everything that comes with it. That other certain website is gathering all the videos the couples are sending in (E&J only had to make an account, and discover the website). They already had the gmail email address. They already figured out the legal stuff last year. They already came up with the idea last year. So.... not only are they _maybe_ adding a small amount of money, E&J also had hardly anything to organize this year.

Anyway, letting couples pay for a lottery ticket, is hardly a giveaway!

It is gross to me for a bunch of reasons:
1. They are basically exploiting people who have endured heartbreak under the guise of a "giveaway" (gross) to ultimately gain views and subscribers. If they were TRULY doing this to be benevolent, why would they not quietly donate to an established grant fund (there are those out there) or set up something with less of a show aspect?

2. Couples enduring infertility have already faced months, if not years, of heartbreak. They are used to not being the "winner", they are used to things not working out. The reality of this contest is that 95% of people who enter will have this end up as just another heartbreak or disappointment on their journey.

3. Ellie & Jared have never gone through IVF- they got pregnant their first monitored cycle at a clinic- they then had a surprised pregnancy, then tried for a 3rd baby and got pregnant every single cycle they tried. They need to stop promoting themselves as part of the IF community and they need to stop exploiting people who have no choice other than IVD. Ellie herself said on her Instagram (and I quote) "If belly pictures make you uncomfortable you can push the unfollow button, I will be doing a lot of them. " Super sensitive for someone who claims to be part of the IF community...
