Is that why they have him laying down so much? Because his neck issue isn't as prominent laying down compared to standing/sitting up? If so, that is a very backwards approach!

I'm pretty sure my kid was sitting up by herself by 8 months, or was just starting to sit up. Calvin is just so tiny. I've never heard him coo or anything which is weird. Most babies are saying stuff like "dada" and babble a lot around that age. And yes I'm aware babies develop at their own pace :-)

It really takes a lot for me to NOT comment on their videos regarding his neck. God forbid I say something and they block me over it, if they even block people.

The way E + J whisper all the time when they're trying to be cute really bothers me. Ever since seeing that clip of Jared getting pissed at Jackson for interrupting and then redoing his scene I can't stand the "upbeat" way they try to talk, it's so obvious it's fake.

Also, pause the latest vlog at 7:52. Ellie's face is so skeletal her mouth takes up the entire bottom half of her face, and look at her neck. I just started watching Samika and the "Meeting baby Calvin" vlog came up on the side bar so I watched it and was shocked how completely different Ellie looked. I know she had just had a baby, but her face is so much fuller. She looked beautiful. Now she looks so weak and sickly. I have been watching them since right before she had Calvin but going straight from current vlogs back to that time was really shocking, I knew she was way thinner but the difference really is incredible.
I kinda wonder if she isn't anorexic. They claim she has a hard time gaining weight, well then eat more!

Yeah I would be understanding of her inability to gain weight if she was eating normal portion sizes.

It's still concerning and still something she probably can't help on her own if it's an eating disorder. Hopefully Jared takes charge but I somehow doubt he will.

Was she officially diagnosed with PCOS? I wonder if she didn't Dr Google that. I guess since she was seeing a fertility specialist it probably was a real diagnosis. I just know being underweight can stop or mess up a cycle too.

her fertility specialist diagnosed her... but i have to wonder if she was actually diagnosed with cysts on her ovaries vs the full on syndrome (so, corresponding blood work that is consistent with PCOS). because yes, you're right, being underweight can cause cycles to cease. she doesn't seem to have any of the symptoms of PCOS besides irregular cycles. and she says she has thyroid issues.. hmm...

I understand all babies are different...but at 8 months old! I have never seen him try to wiggle out of his parents arms or try and jump. When they are holding him he just lays there. That's a little worrisome to me. He really looks like he's 4 or 5 months old.

He reminds me of my 2.5 month old son. :-/ Maybe mostly because of his size.

It was weird to me Calvin pulled his legs up when Ellie wanted him to dance on the counter. I've only seen that in very small babies. My daughter hit milestones for gross motor skills at the very end of "normal" so I don't think I'm basing it on a super advanced child.

Well, you know, as long as Ellie is happy....Because that is all that really matters, isn't it?

Ellie + Jared: Part 9

Unread post by littlebaby »

How do they not notice the difference between Jackson at 8 months and Calvin at 8 months? Jackson was a late bloomer for some things, but he was definitely more mobile and active than Calvin is.

ETA: Hypothetically, if Ellie were to become pregnant in the next few months, would Calvin suddenly become a big independent brother just like she expected Jackson to be when they found out about Calvin? Of course not. She would panic immediately. I know they said they want to have two close in age, wait a few years, then another two close in age, but I have a hunch that when Calvin develops some more and "moves on," she'll be pining for another newborn already. That's why she's holding on to him being so small and dependent. How would she handle two toddlers? She uses Calvin as a buffer/excuse to not take care of her children as diligently as she should.

I think because of their fertility issues they wouldn't try NOT to get pregnant... And for that I don't necessarily blame them - but they need to realize what they can and cannot handle.

That's it, you cracked it. Hence Ellie needs Jared around constantly to care for Jackson. That's why she believes all Calvin wants or needs is to be latched to her breast. Is it any wonder why he's so "difficult" to put to bed? Poor, poor Ellie has to sacrifice constantly to care for ultra sensitive Calvin. The demands on her are endless, she deserves gifts if ever Jared has to be away and she must stay at her mother's house if he's going to be away a whole night.

I feel like E and J sharing meals comes from their struggling with money days. It's was just cheaper for them. But that's not the case anymore, and some habits are just hard to break. I remember in a vlog her saying that at one time, all they had was a bag of potatoes to eat until Jared got paid or something.

I also saw one of Beau's old videos of the family and all the kids were joking around saying, "I'm the boss!" And then another one would say, "No, I'm the boss!" They were all laughing and smiling and then Ellie, who looked maybe 8-10 years old puts her hands on her hips and really aggressively, loudly and seriously says, "No, I'M the boss!" I always think about this when anyone says Ellie loves attention. I wonder if she feels she kind of faded into the background with all those older siblings.

They've been taking Cal to well-baby appointments, right? If so, I think a doctor would both ask and notice Calvin's poor head support, inability to sit unassisted, and not pushing himself into a standing position when his feet are placed on a surface.

New theory: there have been no Calvin updates since it's become clear to E&J that Calvin has some physical issue. They don't want to draw attention to it and the fact that they aren't dealing with it.

If Ellie is so into breast feeding why doesn't she pump or something and donate the milk to a hospital where they can give it out to mothers who have trouble producing enough milk for their babies. She would be able to continue to use her milk and finally let Calvin grow up.

What? At eight months old he should still be breastfeeding...

This is interesting. Article talking about the linger effects of torticollis in the author's 8 month old even after successful treatment:
Excerpt: Miss Frankette is just a few days shy of turning eight months old. Yet she can't sit unsupported. She just flops forward or backward and puts up a fuss if I try to sit her up again. In fact, she even hates sitting in the unsupported upright position in her Bumbo seat and in the exersaucer. She acts uncomfortable. And she will not put her feet down to support her weight at all. Whenever I get Miss Frankette into the walking position, she just dangles there and keeps her legs bent up under her body. Looks at me like I'm crazy.
