My pet peeve: I'm not a fan of how Cullen and Katie or Samika or whatever are now the "gold standard" of parenting and how DB and EJ could "learn a thing or two" from them. I remember when E&J were the "best parents on YT" and people hoped others (dailyBumps, mainly) would be influenced by them. Now E&J are trash parents, apparently and everyone needs a parenting class by C&K or Samika (who I don't watch).

I'm just waiting for C&K to do something to piss the board off and watch them descend into trash land with their best friends.

(Arguably they are good parents to their little girl, I'm not trying to set off that debate, I just find it annoying how they're suddenly model parents to most people here. Then again, I rarely watch them or read their thread, but on the DB board people praise them constantly. When is the other shoe going to drop).

I get what you mean. It doesn't take much for people on here to turn on certain vloggers, and that sucks! If people start bashing C&K on here for petty ass reasons I probably will just stop reading their threads.

Agreed they aren't perfect, but I think B&M are so awful that C&K and Sam and Jenn look perfect next to them. But they only have one kid each. It's going to be interesting how these paragons handle two kids.

I suck at commas. Always have! I usually put too many in, though. (Like, was that one even needed? I don't know. Bah.)

YES! Exactly! Lol I see people on FB putting, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY PERSON!!" And I'm like, "Shouldn't there be a comma in there?!" Image And I always second guess myself. Damn commas...

Oh I kind of suck at them too! But long run on sentences kind of like this one where there's no grammar or commas or sense or break in the words or ideas like girl please you passed the third grade right

That's what I'm talking about, I don't know shit about "proper comma rules."

It's the difference between it's time to eat, Grandma, and it's time to eat Grandma, lol.

The one I'm really loving lately is "I don't really watch her videos, but I don't get why you all hate her."

Swoosh.

In the UK commas aren't as important because they honestly don't care about comma splices the way we Yankees do.

BUT I have guidelines for US comma use at home so I'll post them when I get back. Off the top of my head:

Use Commas:

1. To cut off introductory phrases

2. To signify information that my not necessarily important to the overall clause

3. To separate items in a list (oxford comma optional pending on style guide)

And I think there are five more uses I can't remember.

Real life pet peeve?

I hate when I'm pretending to be an editor and the person I'm editing switches between using it and not... Then stare at me like an idiot when I ask them about it. Yes, the Oxford comma is something you need to acknowledge in your Style Guide.

Speculation that goes on and on for so long that people start assuming it's all true.

Sometimes after a while it's hard to tell what's real and what is long-running speculation. Especially if the speculation was around before your time.

I find this with this and another forum I participate on.
