JesssFam Part 85: Addie's Apnea
Re: Addie Is Alive (No Thanks To Jess) Pt. 85
Okay, let's say Addie does have some condition that caused this. Do you guys think the scare would be enough to make Jess practice safer sleep habits? Or do you think she will be like "oh, I can still put Addie on her stomach surrounded by crap because that didn't cause her stop breathing"?

Re: Addie Is Alive (No Thanks To Jess) Pt. 85
Yeah I'd feel bad if there is something wrong with her, but I still feel the same about the sleeping. I'd be extra pissed if she continues to sleep Addie that way after all this on top of something that could be actually wrong with her.

I'm not gonna feel like an asshole because Jess is still absolutely irresponsible for letting her sleep so unsafely, whether it's the reason for what happened or not.
Re: Addie Is Alive (No Thanks To Jess) Pt. 85
I don't think there's anything to feel bad about when you're making a legitimate argument. Letting your 2 month old sleep face down with a fluffy pillow next to her and a big comforter over her is neglegence and stupid, regardless if it caused this episode or not

Re: Addie Is Alive (No Thanks To Jess) Pt. 85
If Addie really does have a severe condition (God forbid!), I'm not going to feel bad for saying that Jess shouldn't have put her TWO MONTH OLD daughter face down and surrounded by blankets in bed. I'm not sure if this is widespread, but at a hospital near my hometown, there's a message on the blanket that says "back is best." Of course, Jess doesn't care to listen to doctors/non-crunchy medical professionals and think she knows everything because she's had five kids before age 25.
"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

The instagram picture of Addie with Jess's boob in her mouth just made me have the biggest eye roll! What are you trying to prove here Jess? That your boobs and milk can save the world? I honestly don't get it? What does you nursing have to do with your carelessness about unsafe sleep oh and the most important your child almost dying? She is such an attention seeker, it's disgusting!

If your channel is monetized, it is automatically checked. She could uncheck it when uploading though, fairly easily on the website. Not sure about when uploading from a phone/mobile.kittypurry wrote:ber614 wrote:Yeah, I totally understand that point. I don't want to make it sound like I am defending her, because I am actually pretty neutral about this and understand both sides. Like I believe that instagram post was unnecessary but she has a ton of minions up her ass begging for updates. She might have put that update to shut them up, she might have posted it because she might be anxious or relieved about getting an answer, or like you guys are saying she could have done it to get more views on her video.kittypurry wrote:
Making a video is not the problem, it's the fact that she monetized the video, and purposefully left out any details while emphasizing the drama ("this man saved her life", etc) in the IG posts, in order to draw more views to the video since IG posts don't make money. She could have just not monetized the video.

I don't really understand much about how youtube works and how they make money. I thought she would make money off of any video she posted. But if there is an option wouldn't it be the default setting for a youtuber? Like is there just button you check to choose if you make money off of it?
I don't have a channel but from what I've heard monetization is not automatic, you have to turn it on for each video when you upload or afterward. It's not a default setting

Also, I have put videos on my channel up and not monetized them and still had ads show up on them when I view them on other devices. I think she probably did monetize it though, especially since the rest of her channel is.

It is not automatically monetized if it is a mobile upload. She would have to go in afterwards and make it.
Re: Addie Is Alive (No Thanks To Jess) Pt. 85
it sounds terrible but i would hope this incident was caused by a sleep problem instead of a life long underlying condition (i mean it would be better to have never happened at all but between the two choices) i really hope addie makes a full recovery!

Re: Addie Is Alive (No Thanks To Jess) Pt. 85
I'm going to be open and honest of my past mistakes as a mother, the difference with me is when I knew better, I done better.
My nearly 8 year old frequently tummy slept, and it was ME and my husband that placed him into the position. He never settled on his back so we of course placed him into his cot on his front often. Now if I had any idea how unsafe that was I would have NEVER done that. I have no idea why I thought it was OK, I was very stupid. I turned him forward facing in the car at only 10 months old because "yayyyy he can look forward now!" without knowing ANY of the dangers, once again we were negligent. We will openly admit we were negligent and if we knew what we were doing wrong there's no way we would have done that, I would admit it if we knew. With our second child 5 years later, we done everything differently because we KNEW BETTER. I can't tell you how many nights I stayed awake all night holding our little girl so she could actually sleep without choking from coughing (she had bronchiolitis 4 times). Did I once place her on her stomach? NO. Instead I stayed up most nights holding her so she could sleep because it was dangerous to lie her on her back AND her tummy. That's what parents do!
Jess knew exactly what she was doing and she also posted pictures constantly to rub our noses in it, that's what makes her even worse. She will never admit to her mistakes, ever. Me and my husband were idiots back then and had no idea what we were doing the first year, we were very very lucky nothing happened but once we knew these things were dangerous we weren't careless anymore.

Is there a way to pressure her to donate the money from these hospital updates to a SIDS foundation or hospital? Seems fucked up to make money from a kid's illness and I'm sure these videos will be some of her biggest earners. I'm thinking the best way to do it would be for random people to start posting comments about how wonderful she is for agreeing to donate the money. She is such a narcisist she would probably go along with it if she got enough praise.

Id do it. But also Jess is a bitch and probably would delete all the comments. I think this is a great idea... just to see what happens.

I highly respect your husband and you for admiting your mistake, yes you were ignorant of the danger and ignorance is dangerous (I a happy to hear your child is ok!) but you learn and did better after, (that's what anyone should do as human beings, learn from their mistakes!). Unfortunatly, after so many children, I really think Jess knows the danger of what she is doing, I think she is just overconfident of her "abilities" as a mother... In my opinion, she wants to show her minions she is a great mom and now according to them everything she is doing is great, which reinforce her idea that she just to everything amazingly as a mothermrsbarnaby wrote:I'm going to be open and honest of my past mistakes as a mother, the difference with me is when I knew better, I done better.

Even if she is at fault, I don't think she will admit it which is the shame because she could teach so any parents who don't know, how to be better!

Re: Addie Is Alive (No Thanks To Jess) Pt. 85
She knew the risks of stomach sleeping, she said she asked the doctor if that could be the cause of the incident, which shows she knew that it's risky and that it can cause babies to stop breathing. It seemed like she thought she'd discovered a "parenting hack" every time she posted a snap of Addie sleeping on her stomach bragging that she slept 10 hours the past night. It's almost like she thought she was smarter than the parents too scared to let their child sleep on this stomach just because that's the official recommendation. So whether this episode was caused by stomach sleeping/blankets or some other medical condition, it doesn't change the fact that Jess absolutely knew better but thought her experience made her more knowledgeable than pediatricians and AAP task forces who spend years researching, collecting data and compiling it into official recommendations

Re: Addie Is Alive (No Thanks To Jess) Pt. 85
Exactly! That's the big issue here, she does know better. Trust me if I had thousands of people telling me what I was doing could kill my child, there is no way I would ignore them and even take photos to prove my way is best. We fucked up bigtime as parents and honestly looking back it makes me feel really sick to my stomach. I'm not going to use our age as a reason back then because there is no excuse, it was just pure ignorance, we just didn't even think to look up these things.

She just posted on Snapchat that the video is uploading, but the internet is being slow.
She also added "make sure you watch the whole video so you can get all the information"... which seemed weird.
