Even if Ellie were the greatest aunt in the world, I find this comment rather off-putting. It turns all the focus on her in a weird way. She could have said something like, "Sonya has been a really positive role model in my life. I always hoped to be an aunt like her" or something like that, but instead, she says this. It is an alarming (albeit not surprising) way to react.YouTubeIdiots101 wrote:I was thinking the same thing, she doesn't show her nieces and nephews the kind of love an aunt would Ignoring them when they try to hug her, pushing away their little hands when they try to touch her precious Cal, etc. She barely interacts.actuallydear wrote:"i am who i am today because of aunt sonya. she's the way i am the way that i am with my nieces and nephews"
way to speak ill of the dead, ellie. we know you're a shitty aunt but she's not even cold yet.

Re: E+E - We Did Nothing Wrong! Part 21
That website Ellie keeps promoting is an online dietician. She sells monthly memberships to her "club" where she gives out advice and meal plans. I think it's great that Ellie is trying to eat better, but I question the validity of an online nutritionist in Ellie's case. I think it's fine if you are just looking to lose weight or eat better, but I don't think Ellie is going to get feedback specific to her situation, which I would describe from time to time as being dangerously thin.
Plus as with everyone that posts their "healthy choices" on social media, I can't help but side-eye the hypocrisy when they are also eating junk food in excess like fruit snacks, soda, sparkling juice, cookies, etc. (Ellie has been mentioning/buying/gifting fancy cookies from a local bakery over the last two weeks like they are her own personal creation!)

Yes, this! Why is this not being talked about more? That entire scene was so disturbing imo. Wtf was up with that "you're smarter than you look" remark that Jennifer made?! How is that okay?? And the way they were trying to get out of her who her "favorite niece is" while Ellie pretended to be Julie and what not. It seemed like they were trying to trick a child. And that smug grin Jennifer had the entire time. Ew ew ew. It was like they were feeding off of each other's nastiness. I hope I'm not being overly sensitive, but I felt gross watching.HelloSweetie wrote:
I thought Ellie on the phone with Aunt Linda was condescending as always. I know why she pretended to be Julie, and that it was supposed to be a joke for the viewers, but it seemed mean to Linda.
I get that they try to make it seem like they treat her just the same as everyone else and I have a feeling they show scenes like this to try to make that a point, BUT, every time they do it it rubs me the complete wrong way. It seems like they tend to make Aunt Linda the butt of a joke that she's not in on.

Yup... this sealed it for me on how they treat aunt Linda. Already had suspicions when B+J defended using "retarded" because they have aunt Linda so it's totally ok. It's not. It makes me very sad to see them use her for jokes like this.Boredomatitsfinest wrote:Yes, this! Why is this not being talked about more? That entire scene was so disturbing imo. No one needs to use the word retarded, but unfortunately many people still do. I've seen it used more than a few times on these boards, and it's only occasionally corrected. It is also still a clinical term, though it is now considered to be derogatory. This is very recent though, so I'm not surprised that many people still see no problem in using it. Not everyone is PC.chipmunks wrote:

I don't know the context to which B&J used the word, but I really disagree about how they treat Linda. B&J are the only ones I've actually noticed make a point of treating her like a person (though I suspect Julie and Landon probably do as well). Bonnie compliments her on her makeup, and Joel tells her she looks beautiful and puts together gift bags for her as "treats". They laugh WITH Linda, rather than AT. Jared speaks to her like she's a child, and Ellie and Ruby just act like she's a joke. While I didn't like how Jennifer was speaking to her yesterday, I don't know if she looks down on her or not. Its clear she's remained an important part of her brother's life, and I can't imagine this would be the case if Jennifer wasn't at least a little supportive.

I always feel sick to my stomach when Aunt Linda is in the vlog & they talk to her/treat her like this (which is always). They seem to only vlog her to mock and make fun of her. When Jennifer made that comment, I was FURIOUS. Why would you say that to her?? That's so unbelievably rude and i don't know how anyone could find that funny.Boredomatitsfinest wrote:Yes, this! I think Bonnie actually tries to include her, and is sweet to her, but Ellie puts her in the vlogs to show how nice she is to her special needs aunt. She speaks to her like she's talking to a kindergartener. And she always makes sure she's in frame. "Look at me! See how nice I am being to the (r-word)"

Exactly. For example, she's quick to tell Aunt Linda "Ok, I'll buy you this" just to seem "nice" to her and do her good act for the vlog.lmmomSD wrote:I think Bonnie actually tries to include her, and is sweet to her, but Ellie puts her in the vlogs to show how nice she is to her special needs aunt. I don't think the disrespect with their aunt goes unnoticed. It is very sad to see how they treat this very nice aunt pretty consistently and she deserves to be treated as an adult. They would all need to work at breaking this habit which are teaching moments for future generations. I think I am not wrong with what I've seen and this is Ruby's older children snicker at their great aunt?menehune wrote:I'm surprised more things aren't talked about more tbh. Sorry, meant "they" as in the general family. On their own, B&J are very inclusive with her but I won't ever forget them defending using the word when they were called out. I haven't heard them say it in the vlogs since, but likely they are editing it out because they got a lot of flack. So they know there's an issue, they just don't care or understand why it's an issue.menehune wrote:No one needs to use the word retarded, but unfortunately many people still do. When Joel took Olivia to an outdoor concert they ran into Aunt Linda. He was very respectful towards her then and so was Olivia.chipmunks wrote:Sorry, meant "they" as in the general family. Supposedly Jackson took this photo... I really doubt it. If so, even the 3 year old knows Ellie has to be the centre of every photo.

E+E - We Did Nothing Wrong! Part 21
Looks like the above pic might have been Jackson. I stand corrected!
Today's vlog is just one big ad for Ancestry.com. They mentioned Jared's dad had a screening for colon cancer, but didn't even mention Aunt Sonya. I thought that was interesting. They missed a good opportunity to advocate for screening and the signs to watch out for, but I get that kids don't care.
They went walking in the mountains and Ellie referred to it as "our backyard." I really do see them buying property and moving again in the next couple of years.
They hardly vlogged the kids at all. I wonder if this is the reason why their channel is slowing down compared to DB?
They mentioned how quickly Jared is turning grey! I could be wrong, but I can't imagine that will be good for channel growth either. Grey hair will make them seem a lot more older and to kids that means less FUN!

Re: E+E - We Did Nothing Wrong! Part 21
Thank you!... I wonder how Bonnie feels when she sees how Ellie is with her kids. Personal story, I have an Aunt who was like Ellie. when I was a kid I use to be scared of her lol. My mom was everybody's favorite aunt, she would treat all her nieces and nephews like her own, she would make their favorite meals when they would visit. (she really loves kids lol) One day my mom found out our aunt wasn't being really kind to my sister, she got sad she almost cried. she didn't understand why she was this way with us when she was so kind and loved her kids so much.YouTubeIdiots101 wrote:At 11:47, you can see Ellie meeting up with Jared, the kids, and Boston & Cody. Cody was so excited to see Ellie and she didn't even give him the time of day. He wrapped his arms around her and she couldn't evens say "hi cody" or give a pat on the back until Jared acknowledged it a while after. Granted, I know she's excited to see her own kids but she's always like that towards them, not just this time. this is one of the many examples.Hershey821 wrote:I haven't seen this. I know some people think that this is just me being picky, but like i said, there's little things all the time that shows Ellie like that so it's not just a few times.
I don't watch Bonnie that much, I just found her channel but she seems like she's a loving aunt.

I know! "Reported"? Why? For telling the truth? She didn't even say anything mean! She just said that they should say thank you once in a while! Wow. People are bat sh*t crazy. There are people defending Shay, saying sexting isn't cheating, and all kinds of BS like that. Sad that they can't see the flaws even when they're right out there!
