lmmomSD wrote:Sorry for nitpicking, but I gotta ask-- is putting green olives with pimentos on a pizza a southern thing, or is it just Cullen's personal taste? *Shudder*

I'm pretty sure that's a Cullen thing and not a Southern thing. Though my husband, who grew up poor in the deep South, is also no great respecter of using traditional toppings or ingredients, if something bizarre sounds better to him, lol.
My favorite kind of pizza is bbq chicken. lol bbq sauce instead of marinara, grilled chicken, bacon, red onions and cheese.. so so good. lol
Oh, those are SO good. OMG. Party in my mouth. But I despise green olives and pimentos to begin with, and my BFF who spent more time in the South than I did (even went to law school in the capital of the Confederacy and now lives in N'awlins) looooves pimento loaf. So I was just wondering...
Well, pimento cheese is a huge thing down here, so from the pimento-loaf perspective, it's definitely a valid question!
Personally I am too finicky to ever be considered a true southerner. I'm a source of embarrassment at family gatherings, as I'm always mentally evaluating dishes to decide whether they contain mayo, hahah. Most of them do!
Am I the only one who has been somewhat bothered by C & K talking about how Gaines demands all the attention and because of her they don't think they give Brooks enough attention....and saying what a distraction she is? I mean, it's ok for them to have these feelings and of course Brooks deserves one on one attention too, but they do really need to talk about this right in front of her? Do they not remember that she's still only 2? What do they do all day when she goes to Mom's Day Out and on Grandolly Days? That is PERFECT opportunity to give Brooks plenty of one on one attention. And when Katie and MG go to Music class and Gymnastics??? YEP.....MORE opportunities for one on one time for Brooks.
I love them, and have actually been binge watching all their earlier vlogs. I think they are amazing parents, but these comments really bug me. I'm curious to know what others think.
I think it's similar to how DB are with Ollie. Gaines is cute for the vlog, whereas Finn and Brooks aren't in their eyes. It's hard to pay the baby attention when you're trying to wring cute moments from their older sibling all day.
Gaines is the star of the channel and their lives. If Brooks grows up to be of average, or even less, intelligence then he'll live in the shadow of his sister and all of her accomplishments.
I get how they feel. I have a 1 year old and 3 year old. It's hard to give my 1 year old the attention he needs because the 3 year old always demands attention. This is why I never really judge daily bumps either and really don't think they "neglect" Finn like everyone says.
It didn't really bug me, but what they were saying was stuff I had been thinking for a while, and it's not unique to vloggers. First-time parents spend every available second tripping over themselves to give their baby maximum attention. When the second baby comes, they just do not have enough hours in the day to obsess over the new baby in exactly the way they doted on the first. A parent's heart gets bigger and ideally there's enough love to go around (obviously true for C&K), but fairly self-aware parents will still notice and be troubled that they can't give subsequent babies the exact same amount of one-on-one attention as they did their first.
That said, I don't think Brooks lacks for anything. He does get one-on-one love and care from his parents, and I have never felt that they fail to take advantage of Gaines' activities and days spent with grandparents to pay special attention to Brooks. It's just not humanly possible to make everything completely equal to the attention Gaines got as a first (and for a while, only) baby. This will become even more of a challenge if C&K rush into a third and fourth child - which they might do because of their ages and not having many more years of (healthy) fertility to stretch out the childrens' age gaps a bit.
The good news is that they're still competent and doting parents, and there is a ton of enrichment for children in the relationships they have with their siblings. C&K can't dote on Brooks by himself, full time, as they did with Gaines - but he can learn a ton from watching and listening to his sister and interacting with her, and Gaines will mutually benefit from the relationship too. C&K are smart enough to see he's not getting the exact equivalent to Gaines' first year of life, and good parents can find infinite things to feel guilty for, but so far I still think they'd do better than the average couple even with a whole brood of kids to care for.
Katies talk about Randy and Anna was very, very sweet of her. She didn't have to even mention it but she sent her love, gave them a shout out and aked others to check out their video. She has a very good heart. It is stuff like this that keeps them relatable and likable.
Aww yes I agree. I can't imagine what Randy and Anna must be going through right now...they are so awesome! And if anyone's to know how they feel, it would be Katie. My heart used to hurt for Cullen and Katie when any other youtuber announced their pregnancy. And I've been watching their old vlogs from 2013 right after they lost their first baby...and seeing how many of their real life friends were pregnant during that time, and how many baby showers and gender reveals they willingly and HAPPILY went to, was amazing.
It did bother me until I realized it is their fault. They put her on camera and never let up from the start and they did it for views /money.
They need to stop complaining because they use her when they want, still. Is she considered a toddler or a two yr. old? I don't really know.
I don't see her do anything wrong.
I had not watched in days and did ffwd quite a bit and just closed it. was the whole vlog just them in the living room with half the footage mg jumping? I guess that's all vloggers have to do sometimes, throw a few clips together in one same hour and call it a day. The views come regardless! Glad they eventually put some leggings on mg!

Except CK haven't been getting views. I was shocked to see such a boring vlog with their declining views.
I'm curious as to why you think that she may be pregnant? I truly doubt she is.

I don't think she is either. I think they're just mentioning stuff like that in vlogs to get people excited and keep them watching for when it does happen.
Driving around the parking with Brooks in his lap.. is that legal? I know it's not the main roads, and Cullen was going really slow, but I wouldn't do it.
And I see he pinned a comment about their views. This might be shallow, but I think viewers like to watch younger vloggers that are attractive. Maybe that's what isn't bringing in viewers?

It isn't legal. I'm sure some won't think it's a big deal because he was going really slow in a parking lot, but you can never control how other people will drive. I was sitting in a parked car when I was hit by a drunk driver. I wasn't hurt. Someone could have hit them and deployed the airbags. An airbag injury would be devastating for an infant.

Nope, it's not safe. If some asshat hit them, and his airbag went off, she would like be squished. Even if he's driving slowly, he can't trust other people. He does a lot of dangerous stuff vlogging while driving. He'll be driving along, basically with no hands on the wheel, adjusting the camera. Even hands free, it's taking his attention off the road. Hands free phone devices have been shown to decrease your reflexes and peripheral vision, and those are just phones. This is one of my pet peeves. I despise vlogging and driving.

We must have been typing at the same time! Great minds think alike. My niece has had her car totalled because of someone else in a parking lot.
Ah, the whole time they were in the parking lot I kept thinking "if someone backs out of their spot without looking Brooks is going to get hurt" I was nervous and it really isn't worth the risk to me!
