8 Passengers: Resident Evil | Part Three
Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
How do you find their names? All girl names ending with the same syllable? If you understand me? Is Chad a name for an older guy? I have no idea since English is not my first tongue.

I really wish Ruby would start making enough food to feed her family of 7. She has to scoop beans off of Kevin's plate because she didn't get any. Why on earth don't these Griffiths make a substantial meal!?

Not completely sure what you're asking, but the kids' names in order are:
Shari
Chad
Abigail (Abby)
Julie
Russell
Eve (Evie)
Chad is named after his grandfather, and it's more of a coincidence that all the girls' names (or nicknames) end in the same syllable. But it's the same with the Griffiths girls: Ruby, Bonnie, Julie, Ellie. I don't think it's intentional, but more likely just the types of names that they decide fit with their family. Another trend people have pointed out is that a fair amount of the boys' names end with -in sounds: Jackson, Calvin, Boston, Lincoln.

^ Oh, didn't know that. I could have sworn I remember Ruby calling her Abigail before. Thanks!

Ruby has mentioned in old vlogs she likes girl names that end in the -ee sound, she wanted to name Eve, Evie but Kevin vetoed that and they settled on Evie being her nickname. Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
Did Ruby really film herself sliding a magazine under the bathroom door to Abby? So the kids can't use the bathroom in peace?
Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
I know that Ruby's father is named Chad and I know that the -ee ending names is intentional but I was curious how do you find their names and the fact that all end on the same syllable. Are those trendy names? I get the impression Boston, Lincoln are for example, but it's just me guessing.lifeofgraye wrote:Ruby has mentioned in old vlogs she likes girl names that end in the -ee sound, she wanted to name Eve, Evie but Kevin vetoed that and they settled on Evie being her nickname. Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
Where have you been? She's filmed the kids sick in the bathroom throwing up or laying on the floor, Eve on the potty, Chad singing in the shower, Shari popping pimples, Julie soaking wet and cold after a baptism, she doesn't care, she has to get her footage. She even filmed the husband getting warts removed from his butt one time. I've also seen the kids naked in the bath tub, she didn't show nudity, but she still was in there when they were nude.LydiaE wrote:Did Ruby really film herself sliding a magazine under the bathroom door to Abby? Oh and don't forget that one vlog when someones poop was too big to flush and she embarrassed the person and showed the poop all clogged up in the toilet.

Boston and Lincoln were both named after family friends/actual family. I think it's just a coincidence that their names sound similar hahaalways wrote:I know that Ruby's father is named Chad and I know that the -ee ending names is intentional but I was curious how do you find their names and the fact that all end on the same syllable. But those names sound trendy/modern, while Chad is a name for an old man? That is what I asked?username unknown wrote:

Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
I don't really get what's giving you issues. Lincoln and Boston are Bonnie's kids. Chad is Ruby's kid. Parents decide their kids' names, usually keeping in mind how they will sound with the last name and whether they want to honor someone they love by making their kid a namesake. They don't usually try to have the names fit with cousins, that's preposterous. "Trendy" and "Modern" are artifacts of culture and geography, so a name that is trendy in Mormon Utah might not be in the Bronx. If you want to know how Kevin and Ruby picked their kids' names you can watch the videos in which they introduce their kids one by one. You can find them among their older videos from 2015. Perhaps you are not getting the responses you want (which I'm inferring from the fact that you ended a statement with a question mark in your last post) because you are not expressing yourself clearly.always wrote: But those names sound trendy/modern, while Chad is a name for an old man? Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
Sorry for the double post.
If what you're asking is "does the name Chad sound old fashioned to anyone else but me"? Then my answer is no- it doesn't. Its popularity has weaned since it peaked in 1973. But so have the names Julie, Russel and Shari. You can find a breakdown in the popularity of names in the Social Security website.
**edited because I incorrectly stated that Eve's name has declined in popularity whereas it has in fact increased.

Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
Well I just thought that they were old fashioned but I knew I could be mistaken. Lincoln and Boston were just examples that came across. For example Winston and Henry also sound soooo old fashioned. Especially Henry. Calvin too. It's just me than.
But that was not that important question at all, but thank you for taking your time to answer.

Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
I'm not sure if this helps answer your question of "how do you find names that end in the same syllable", as you know, Ruby likes names that end with a long E sound. If one were to look for names that end in the long E sound, such as Ruby's kids' do, he/she may google "names that end in long E sound".always wrote:

But, there are plenty of common names in English that end with the long E sound, so it's not very hard to think of/come up with. I hope that helps.
(If you're not familiar, it may help to look up that our vowels each have both a "long" and "short" sound that they can produce. Sorry if this is basic information to you.)

Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
We'd all misunderstood this poster. They meant "what do you think about these names". Specifically whether they are old fashioned or trendy. In some languages (like Italian) asking how you find something is equivalent to asking what you think/feel about it. Took a half dozen posts but I think their question has been answered now.Boredomatitsfinest wrote:I'm not sure if this helps answer your question of "how do you find names that end in the same syllable", as you know, Ruby likes names that end with a long E sound. Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
The kids are freaking out in the comments about Chad saying a bad word, so I went back to listen. The bad word was "pissed".
Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
I think it's more about how Ruby sold the family picture in the beginning. If she hadn't presented her children as most well behaved children out there and her being a 24 hours doted wife and mother (which she isn't), kids in the comment wouldn't react, but people do when the opposite of the "perfect family picture" occur. She said in a vlog that they don't allow bad words like any at all, so kids in the comments will point that out when it happens I guess...
I just feel that they are like any family out there in the world but pretends to be rolemodels to look up to as the mormons way is they right way to live...

Re: 8 Passengers: Resident Evil / Part Three
In all fairness the word pissed is swearing in the UK. It's definitely not something children or adults in a formal setting would say (without those around them being incredibly taken aback!)seriously7 wrote:The kids are freaking out in the comments about Chad saying a bad word, so I went back to listen. It's considered the same level as saying fucked. So in the UK, saying 'I'm pissed off' is the same as saying 'I'm fucked off' (at least where I'm from in England.)
So am I safe in assuming that the word 'pissed' is not considered swearing in the USA? If so, I find that interesting from a cultural point of view.
