E+J - Whose Whine Is It Anyway? Part 22
Re: E+J - Whose Whine Is It Anyway? Part 22
I just had a thought about the phone call Ellie had with the fertility centre - what if she filmed that conversation so that in 1-2 months they can go to the fertility centre and no one will be mad at them for getting treatment after such a short amount of time - because the fertility centre told them to contact them in 1-2 months if she doesn't get a cycle?

Thank you! I couldn't sit through the whole thing though lol definitely cringy. I do have one thing to say. Why wouldn't Ellie get checked if her periods were irregular? It seems normal to me to go to the doctor if growing up my period doesn't become somewhat regular. It's not normal to not get any for months at such a young age, why would she wait until over a year after being married to see a doctor? Also, the pcos video came up in my suggestions after watching this one so I watched it. The doctor never says she has pcos, she says she SUSPECTS she has it. Did Ellie just give an update later to say she actually does have it? The doctor also says that she's very fertile and that her problem has to do with ovulation. She doesn't ovulate as much as a woman her age would normally do. So yes it is harder to concive because you have less chances, but as far as infertility goes she really isn't infertile. I understand that fertility clinics treat this kind of cases as well but I wish they'd point out that their problem is more easy to resolve tha problems strictly related with not being fertile. I feel that once she got pregnant it wasn't a hard pregnancy with many risks like for the ivf contestants. If I said anything wrong feel free to correct me. These are just some thoughts I've had watching those videosBoredomatitsfinest wrote:He doesn't quite explain how periods work, but it is implied that he helped to educate her by "what he learned in school". • What is it with Ellie (and the Griffiths sisters apparently) crying on the kitchen floor? Is this a common thing to do? I would love to know the benefits of a good kitchen floor cry.
• Ellie says, " 'we' ovulated". I just- I can't.
• How exactly is the whole, being-so-thankful-and-patient-and-loving thing going for you with your kids, Ellie? Or should I say kid? (You have two of them, you know.)

You're correct, that's the only time PCOS was mentioned, although Ellie does say at one point that she had done some research herself (Google) and suspected that was what she had.Stuuu3 wrote:Thank you! Many of us that have gone through IF have questioned similar things before. It sounds like E&J NTNPd for a long time, and when they actually started "trying" and Ellie didn't have the standard 28 day cycle, they jumped to her being IF and went to a clinic straight away. The 3 years they often refer to wasn't 3 years trying. Many clinics won't even look at you until you've actively tried for 12 months with no successful pregnancies or have had 2-3 losses.

E+J - Whose Whine Is It Anyway? Part 22
Well, she did take clomid for 6 or 7 cycles. I don't recall the exact numbers, but I swear I thought, "oh that was one more than recommended" and those were unsuccessful. I don't remember if she still wasn't ovulating during those cycles, or if she was just too stupid to realize when she was ovulating. Irregular cycles + PCOS are extremely difficult to pinpoint when you're ovulating on your own. But Ellie seemed clueless as to what happens during the entire cycle, period. (Haha). So they could have been mis-timing ovulation. Or for whatever reason clomid just wasn't working for her. It really could be a number of things. If she goes to the fertility clinic, I'm sure they will do blood work and ultrasound before just writing her scripts.Stuuu3 wrote:Thank you! I'm almost hoping it comes to that, so she is forced to share her results. and if they're TTCing, shouldn't she get her thyroid checked. I know 3 women who miscarried due to their thyroid levels too high.

As out of tune with her body and ignorant as she is, I wouldn't be surprised at all if she ovulated on Clomid and had no idea.
If babies are so important to Mormons, why don't they teach them how their bodies work? Carlie Butler said she wasn't sure exactly how ovulation worked, and she's 28! I am sorry for grouping all Mormons in with these two obviously dysfunctional women. Let me rephrase it: is it common for Mormon women to be completely ignorant of how their bodies, and hence conception, work?

I had no idea how certain things worked until TTCing with my second! I really should feel ashamed lol! I enjoyed not having a period but every few months. I also thought I never wanted kids, so I never cared about all of that. NOW, I look back and CRINGE at how ignorant I was about my own body. I have my second son to thank for my edumacation . And now I get to blame PCOS for being a fat ass or the cinnamon roll I ate today.lmmomSD wrote:As out of tune with her body and ignorant as she is, I wouldn't be surprised at all if she ovulated on Clomid and had no idea.

Re: E+J - Whose Whine Is It Anyway? Part 22
I don't understand how they are so uninformed in that video. All it takes is a simple google search to find information. She commented that she got a positive ovulation test that day and then the doctor said she had a good egg. She was so confused about that. Well dummy if you would read the instructions you would know you get your positive ovulation test 24 hours before you ovulate. (I hope I heard that right, if not I apologize) I'm thinking a lot of her problem was incorrect timing. And it can take a healthy couple a year to get pregnant. She obviously has no problem getting pregnant, look at Calvin. If she has inconsistent periods that is why she had a hard time, it's hard to track ovulation when your periods are so crazy.
Mine are pretty irregular, i don't think I have pcos but I tracked my basal body temperature every morning and took ovulation tests to track my ovulation which was way off of what it would be if you just timed for a 28 day cycle. You can also track by using your cervical mucus. My cycles are between 28-36 days.

Re: E+J - Whose Whine Is It Anyway? Part 22
I got positive OPKs, had ready eggs, had spikes in BBT (always taken at 6am, vaginally), but wasn't ovulating. Finally on clomid I was like WHOA okay, that was ovulation. My temp was way higher than my other after posi OPKs. No EWCM even on the cycle I know of ovulated. Of course, just my personal experience, which could be different from Ellie's (I agree hers is likely poor timing/ignorance. Hell, even her doctor mistimed it when she got pregnant with Jackson!!) my main point was to bring light that tracking ovulation methods don't always work for everyone. And it's common for those with PCOS to get positive OPKs, but not actually ovulate, which is what I think the nurse/whomever was getting at on the phone call. Typically it's temping & charting that can tell you for sure you ovulated, and I feel certain Ellie doesn't have patience for that.MommaLindsey2 wrote:I don't understand how they are so uninformed in that video. You will typically get a positive OPK 24 hours or so before ovulation, but for some ladies it only happens the day you ovulate, or even 2 days before ovulation. all depends on your LH surge.MommaLindsey2 wrote:I don't understand how they are so uninformed in that video. Some people don't get enough cervical mucus to determine whether or not it's fertile. Somehow, I can't picture Ellie going searching for it, either. She has a hard enough time saying 'period' let alone sticking her fingers up her vagina and sweeping her cervix.
I agree that she seems able to become pregnant rather easily. We will see this time around though, she is more underweight this time so it may take a lot more for her body to trigger itself, even with the help of Femara.

This. They talk about how long it took them to get pregnant with Jackson. She talked about in the very beginning how she would always refer to her future baby with the name "Jackson" before she got pregnant. They wanted a baby so bad and always talk about their infertility yet they don't consider him their miracle baby? Its definitely just her favoritism coming into play again, as always. Obviously, all children are a blessing but if you're gonna say "miracle baby" please look back and reflect how "hard" you claim it was to get pregnant / how unattainable it was for you at the time vs randomly getting pregnant a few months after your first baby.blahblahblahhh wrote:One more thing. We got pregnant with our second son right after getting my iud out, with no period in between. We don't call him a miracle baby. It just so happened that we got pregnant the first time I ovulated. Not exactly a miracle ground breaking conception.
If you ask me the way she got pregnant with Jackson was much more of a "miracle".

It absolutely breaks my heart. He is such a special boy and he doesn't deserve to always be pushed over like that. Do they not realize how dumb they sound when they talk about things like this to the camera? Shouldn't they question why Jackson asks those questions?PostyMcPosterston wrote:^^^ and for Jackson to ask Jared if he was a special boy. That's heart shattering. I don't have kids yet but if I were ever have a child like Jackson, I would count my lucky stars.
He is a dream. And yeah, we don't see the tantrums etc but it's not hard to tell what a sweet natured kid he is. He deserves so much happiness, and it makes me sad that he gets pushed to the side. He's probably used to it now and may not give it much thought.

I get the feeling that they mean "miracle" in a religious way. They probably view Jackson as being chemically conceived and not "naturally" conceived. They view Calvin's conception as a "sign from 'Heavenly Father'" that they were doing the right things/making the right choices (their words), and were therefore given a "true miracle" baby in return.
Any way you spin it, it's fucked up. I just want to shake them.

E+J - Whose Whine Is It Anyway? Part 22
I'm pretty sure it was in the car vlog talking about wanting to start trying to conceive. It's when Jared starts crying. I would have cried too if I was telling my partner our son asked if he was a special boys. I felt like you could tell Jared had a sense of guilt or something initially. Rather than, "isn't that so silly and cute that he asked that?!" But he also left that clip in there so who knows. I certainly wouldn't make a FB post telling a few hundred people that my son questioned whether he was special or not. I dunno!blahblahblahhh wrote:What vlog did he say that in? ETA: btw it's Jared retelling the story, not Jackson on the vlog asking. So it's up for major interpretation.
Re: E+J - Whose Whine Is It Anyway? Part 22
I just wanted to say that I'm not sure Jackson asking if he's special comes from a place of him not feeling special. It may or may not. My 3 year old asks me about 100 times a day if I love her. It's not because she feels unloved (I tell her I love her all the time without prompting), it's because she likes hearing it.
Re: E+J - Whose Whine Is It Anyway? Part 22
They are not even actively trying and they have already milked 2 vlogs out of this. OMG desperate for views is right. And Ellie with the anxiety over not coping well without sleep, and wanting her time to watch a show with Jared in the evening and because their editing is late at night? Bull shit. They are just effing lazy, editing does not have to be late. And does Ellie not realize Calvin was the normal baby? Lol most baby's don't sleep well. Especially breast fed babies that your don't use the baby wise technique on lol. Jackson was not your typical baby sleeping all nights right away, hardly fussy.HelloSweetie wrote:She's not even pregnant yet and she's already whining. Also again, this is like the third time- super happy on vacation- starts getting a low mood and anxiety when back home. This is not normal, she has an amazing life, money, house, husband and two sons- nothing NEW is going to fix her mood. The only times I remember her being really happy, and when she seemed less like an entitled bitch was when they lived in a small apartment, barely making enough, and just had Jackson.

I will not diagnose because it's against the rules, so I'll just say her mood seems to go up and down a lot. At least that's what they show in the vlogs. I actually find it distributing when she gets so wide eyed and energetic like with Bonnie at the trampoline place. Then she's crying in the kitchen.gymchick43 wrote:Also again, this is like the third time- super happy on vacation- starts getting a low mood and anxiety when back home.
