8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
Re: 8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
Hate to pull a Shari on you guys, but it's not a law. It's a rule. That's why you won't go to jail if you do something dumb like bring a full sized bottle of lotion and plan to argue semantics with the agent. TSA makes rules governing travel and then enforces them (i.e. The recent ban in galaxy note 7s - not a law, just a rule they created and enforced).
Agreed though that Kevin should have prevented the situation. I'm sure if he knew she was going to try it, he probably didn't want to argue with her. He seems very laid back in parenting approach.

I am laughing so hard at Chad's "Italian" snack. And at Ruby's "Italian" dinner. Chad is a kid and of course he doesn't know, but Ruby just got back from Italy.
You can travel all you want, but if you're not open to learning from another culture and behave like other countries are an amusement park built for your consumption you will remain the same ignorant person you were before you left.

Couldn't watch because he had food in his mouth the whole clip. All the griffiths do this and it drives me nuts!sasperillo wrote:I am laughing so hard at Chad's "Italian" snack. And at Ruby's "Italian" dinner. Chad is a kid and of course he doesn't know, but Ruby just got back from Italy.

I don't really buy Chad's story about his "friend" but that's a pretty cool salad for a 12yo. Might just put that on my table for a fast and colorful side, plus all kids love Cheese Strings for some weird reason so what do I have to lose?

"Italian salad with pepperoni and string cheese" and "Italian dinner: brad with pepperoni"... LMAO.
Ruby could've bought a cooking book.
The girls' backpacks were nice looking!

They had me at the Havarti cheese. Also WTF is Italian sauce? As if we didn't have enough American products that pretend to be Italian (Italian soda, Italian ice , Ceasar Salad, Pasta Alfredo etc. ). They probably went to a restaurant while in Italy and ordered spaghetti and meatballs or chicken parmesan. I can only imagine the eye rolls they got. lol. Edited to say that the other cheese is Gouda. I cannot stop laughing.phie20 wrote:"Italian salad with pepperoni and string cheese" and "Italian dinner: brad with pepperoni"... LMAO.

Re: 8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
Havarti and Gouda in Italian food?
You're probably right-- they probably tried to get chicken parmigiana. I couldn't bear it after they drank Fanta from wine glasses in Tuscany. They could have at least had Pellegrino! And that stupid thing April did mixing stuff to make it _look_ like the wine the gentleman next to her was drinking. I admit, I can be a snob sometimes (although not as bad as I used to be-- I've mellowed and gotten more tolerant), but these folks really showed how ignorant and hick they really are. You gotta laugh. It's the only thing you can do.

I'm sure Shari would enjoy a trip to Italy or Europe in general, she said she wanted to visit Germany, that's only a few hours from Italy. When she's older they could fly to more fun-locations with the little ones and let Shari travel through mid-europe. Would be also great to get some space from the Griffith's spell.
OT: When I travelled to the US the first time I saw "pasta alfredo" and didn't know what it was, so I asked - people were trying to make me believe it's a real italian dish. I've been to Italy every year since the year I was born, never heard or seen

Oh My God, I can't stand the way that Evil scream-talks. Her voice is so annoying. Ship Shari and Evil off and the rest of the family will be OK.

Re: 8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
Ruby says having Chad homeschooled is "nice for me." But when she asks Chad if he likes it, he says no. She is so self-centered.
Re: 8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
I think her motivations for homeschooling Russel are self-centered but I don't think it's the same for Chad. Chad was homeschooled before, and there are videos on the channel of his homeschooling routine where Ruby was taking him out to a store to buy his curriculum and he seemed to spend his day practicing music, doing work from the book and he also had some bible assignments I think? He said in those videos that he missed his friends but he liked being home, then he was also on a football team and they talked about him in scouts and a boys club in those same vlogs- so I think Ruby is probably a better "homeschooler" than we want to give her credit for. At least she's getting curriculum and not "teaching" because I'm unsure how that would go...strawberry_smoothie wrote:Ruby says having Chad homeschooled is "nice for me." Chad was also successful coming back to school, he won the science fair and ran for student council and had applied to a magnet school for junior high that was also shown on the vlogs- I think Ruby is probably not lying in this instance and that maybe Chad kind of has fallen in with the wrong crowd, or at least people she and Kevin disapprove of. Behavior was also the reason they homeschooled him the first time so you have to wonder exactly what kind of stuff is going on at his school.
Even if its Utah I'm guessing the kids there are the typical public school kids and so there are some bad influences even at 12-13. Ruby and Kevin might think that their children are still children- but kids that age think theyre grown ups and in 2017- are all "dating", doing nasty stuff on social media, saying offensive things, possibly getting into drugs/alcohol.
If Shari makes choices to avoid all that, or she just keeps quiet about it to her parents and her personality kind of keeps her in the clean Molly Mormon crowd, I don't know, plus girls and boys are also different and the pressures are likely different for Shari. Then again, she can wear makeup and facetime boys so maybe that's enough for her.
I think personally that Chad was in trouble for the incident with that girl he liked, they fudged the story a little for the camera, and that there was more going on with that whole situation. Maybe he got caught trying to kiss her or said/texted her something inappropriate and either of their parents found out? Or he was convinced that she's his unofficial girlfriend and got into a fight because of her for another reason, I don't buy at all that kids now are splashing gravel at each other on the playground and I have no idea why Ruby still does.

You seem like you're getting a bit far fetched with your speculation on the chad situation. He's a kid. 0 factors to indicate he was inappropriate to that girl. Plus it was mentioned multiple times she watches their videos so I doubt they would tell a completely false story involving her, knowing that she or her parents could correct them on social media.

Re: 8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
I'm so glad she's getting called out in the comment section today! So many people saying they think it's for her benefit not his. He seemed so happy at school as well and obviously was doing well in some areas academically like with that survey project he did. They mentioned he got through to the next stage, I wonder if he can still participate now he's home schooled?

Yeah i might be taking it too far but idk its weird? Why pull him out of school with only a month left after he's been doing really well...and bringing up the girl and Chad's "fight" just seems like that was what got out of hand, whether it was with her or his friends because that whole thing was going on.aral12 wrote:walrusboy wrote:I think her motivations for homeschooling Russel are self-centered but I don't think it's the same for Chad. If Chad's not in trouble and didn't do anything wrong then why yank him out of school with a month left? How will he ever go back now? How embarrassing.

Re: 8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
I'm not caught up with the vlogs, so I don't really know about the Chad situation, but reading here reminded me how Ruby said she's going to homeschool one child each year. Is she considering homeschooling Chad AGAIN?
I would understand if a parent was a qualified/highly educated person, possibly homeschooling a child instead of sending them to preschool or kindergarten. BUT THIS WOMAN DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A COLLEGE EDUCATION. How on God's good earth does she think she is qualified enough to homeschool children of any age to their benefit?!
It merely comes down to the fact that, all of her life, she was raised to believe that her purpose is to get married, have kids, and spread The Word and what not. Now that she is done having kids, she's probably feeling lost and unimportant. But, RUBY! Wake up! There is more to life than having kids and being a housewife! You don't have to keep your kids home from school just to fill your void! This woman would highly benefit from finding something that interests HER and her alone (not involving Kevin or the kids) and focusing on that. Ruby has the mind of a 14 year old girl, stuck in a 30 something year old body. She never really got to know and love herself for who she is, and I think that's where a lot of her actions spawn from. I think she means well, but she's lost. It's sad, really. I hope she can get help before she ends up really damaging her kids' lives.

Re: 8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
It might not have been their choice to take him out. The school maybe forced them cause one month only, is like tomorrow (?)
If I recall, wasn't Chad called to the principal's office according to an earlier vlog weeks ago and Ruby didn't even seem bothered about it, she was almost cheering him cause he stood up for something and they never got into what it was about. Also wasn't the reason he got homeschooled last time, because he got into trouble (mouthy or something).
Someone mentioned in the comments today that Ruby shouldn't put her head in the sand and instead deal with uncomfortable situations. Don't know about Kevin but I hope he is doing something to help his son. Youtube won't last forever.
In all, hopefully Chad wants to be home with his mum or it's a sad situation for the poor boy staying at home learning nothing but helping mum with chores and the two younger siblings instead.

Re: 8 Hungry Passengers: #NoLeftovers | Part 4
That's such a hasty decision to make. When something goes wrong like that, you don't just pull your child out of school. If there were other issues, such as bullying or depression, that's a different story. But this is kind of ridiculous to me. One month left and you decide to do that? Let him enjoy his last month at school. Isn't he going to a different school for the upcoming year (if Ruby doesn't homeschool again)? That's so crazy to me. Chad said he didn't like being home so I don't get the purpose.
