Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
My kids are 25 months apart, so I do know what you mean. I was just saying they don't want to reward the meltdowns. But it's hard because even though Gaines has the vocabulary of an older child, she doesn't have the emotional maturity to match her speech. My daughter was helpful with my son, but also broke his bouncy seat because she wanted to sit in it so badly. Unfortunately, they don't get along now. But I hope they will appreciate each other someday! I also agree that C&K handle it much better than DB, with their pretending that the boys are best friends, and ignoring when Ollie mistreats Finn.MommaLindsey2 wrote:Siblings this age are very hard! My boys are around the same age gap as Gaines and Brooks (23 months apart) My oldest son was the same way as Gaines. Right when my youngest got mobile and stared walking and pinching/grabbing his older brother pulling hair and taking his toys he would have total meltdowns and even hit him. It's very important to handle this correctly or else the older child will totally resent the younger child. I am happy in a way that C&k film it and don't cut it out like missy and Bryan surely do and pretend that Finn and Ollie love each other.lmmomSD wrote:^^ Exactly. I do think it's important to validate her feelings. And she should be able to say she's angry because Brooks scratched her. But the full on meltdown and getting rocked and cuddles, when he probably didn't really hurt her, is a bit much. But she is only 2 1/2, even if she has a vocabulary beyond that. I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

My boys will now play together and wrestle at 19 months at 3.5. They even share toys. It took so much work. They do still fight at least once a day though. Lol

What is your take on kids being at what seemed like a adult party with booze and what not?

Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
as long as the kids are properly supervised and no one is drinking and driving kids home I have absolutely no issue with it. I've been to many parties, weddings ect where alcohol was served and kids were in attendance and it has never been an issue with me.Strawberry26 wrote:What is your take on kids being at what seemed like a adult party with booze and what not?

The party turned out so nice!!!! The food looked delicious and the band was the perfect touch. Looks like everyone had a great time and that house is PERFECT for entertaining. C&K and their whole family are amazing party hosts!

I grew up at parties with adults drinking. I haven't watched the vlog yet, but as long as no one drove home drunk I have no issues with it.Strawberry26 wrote:What is your take on kids being at what seemed like a adult party with booze and what not?

Just the opinion of an internet stranger. Don't take anything personally, for your own sake as well as mine.

Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
It doesn't seem like they had that much alcohol. It wasn't really that type of party, so I see nothing wrong with having kids there. If they were all getting trashed with the kids around, that would be a problem. Nobody wants their kids around a bunch of drunks.
Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
I agree that having kids around adults drinking is no big deal as long as it isn't a rager. My family has get-togethers all the time and we drink beer and wine around the kids. My 10 year old nephew loves to serve us the drinks like a waiter. He even uses his special bottle opener to open beer bottles. It's super cute. I think by normalizing responsible drinking it teaches kids that you don't have to get out of control when you're older. You can have a beer and relax and it's no big deal. Sometimes, demonizing things makes kids want to do it more for the rebelliousness of it. That is my opinion, anyways.

Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
I think the type of drinking party Jess hosts is a little bit different than a drinking party at C and K's. Am I an asshole for saying that?Deadhead_kay wrote:Damn I wish you reasonable people were over at the Jess forum a couple days ago.askeptichere wrote:I grew up at parties with adults drinking. Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
The difference is Jesss was playing drinking games with the kids (kids not drinking) C&K were not playing games but adults being real adults.nutbagmcgee wrote:I think the type of drinking party Jess hosts is a little bit different than a drinking party at C and K's. Aw, that was a sweet vlog. Gaines looked so much like her daddy when they were asking her questions. And I think the pictures tradition is super cute.

Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
On the drinking at the party topic, I think it's very important for children to see their parents and other adults drink alcohol in a responsible way. It seemed to me like everyone at the party was drinking responsibly. Obviously Gaines isn't old enough yet to benefit from seeing how alcohol should be handled, but it's a good example for older children like Bennett and Madelyne.

Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
Agreed. We also talk to our older kids (16 &12) about responsible drinking and lead them by example. If there were ever rowdy drunks at any party they were at we would exit the situation or at least move to another area to get away from that person. Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
What did Katie do for Cullen for Father's Day the past 2 years other than the DADDY pictures? She kept apologizing to Cullen about not doing anything big for him for Father's Day this year. He got a golf cart, updated pictures of the kids, spent the entire day with his family other than the time he spent golfing with Jay, a big group of friends/family came over for lunch... what else is there she could have done? lol.

I got the impression she was being sarcastic. But maybe I was reading it wrong.askeptichere wrote:What did Katie do for Cullen for Father's Day the past 2 years other than the DADDY pictures? Re: C&K: LAY AT HOME PARENTS. PART 11
At the beginning it seemed like she was saying she didn't do more because the birthday party took over. But then at the end she seemed like she was serious about wanting to have done something else for him, and Cullen was like what are you talking about, this was a great day!?PhoenixFeathers wrote:I got the impression she was being sarcastic. Why do they keep allowing Brooks to play in the toilet? It's so nasty.
