Good point. I guess Bonnie's job is to model being pretty to catch a husband.dw30 wrote:I don't get why Bonnie doesn't help with lawn day! Joel teaches the kids about community service and Bonnie pampers herself... such strange dynamics.

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
As I've probably said too many times before, I really like this family for the most part, and enjoy watching their vlogs. What irritated me most about today's vlog, though, was more the comment Bonnie made in response to someone calling her out on the aggressive driving thing. "I didn't say I got pulled over for speeding. I purposely did not say what I got pulled over for." I mean, come ON! Even if that's true, it's completely reasonable for us to assume she was pulled over for speeding and therefore completely reasonable to call her out on it, since she was bragging about it just an hour or so before she got pulled over. I don't get why youtubers do this. They get all upset and defensive about stuff when they're the ones who CHOOSE what content to show on the video. They can't claim bad editing like people on reality tv shows can. If she had left the whole scene out (and the previous boasting) wouldn't it have been better for her overall? Or maybe that's the point, to incite these kinds of comments/conversations? I don't get it.

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
Lincoln's car seat was forward facing. I totally expected them to keep it forward after they left Hawaii but they put him rear facing for a while. She was given such a nice seat that is incredible for rear facing so it's sad to see that she's not using it to it's full potential, but at least he's almost 2. Boston was facing forward much earlier and I'm sure the other 2 were as well. I knew when they took the seat out for Olivia and Joel to sleep in, they'd be too lazy to put it back in rear facing.

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
Grandpa Griffiths telling Boston to be quiet was the most telling thing to me. The griffiths girls always talk about how wonderful their mom was, and they compliment their father, too. But they have mentioned how he was the meaner parent or the disciplinarian. I don't think he's as sweet as I thought. He very naturally dismissed Boston.
And as everyone's pointed out, Bonnie was annoying AF. She's a piece of work, admitting how she's an asshole driver. Ugh...

Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
Bonnie is slowly but surely turning into a high maintenance bitch. I haven't watched in weeks but i am amazed in the drastic change she is going through. Next she will be getting lip fillers and plastic surgery. You could tell her hair stylist was uncomfortable and did she really need to complain on camera about the side of her extensions showing when it's in a half ponytail.
I also felt so sad for poor Boston in the vlog, all of grandpas attention was going to Cody and you could tell he just wanted to be included.

If grandpa griffs had of said "in a minute Boston" or "wait your turn Boston" it wouldn't of been so harsh. Kids do need to learn to wait their turn, grandpa was showing Cody something. But the shhh was harsh.MommaLindsey2 wrote:Bonnie is slowly but surely turning into a high maintenance bitch. I haven't watched in weeks but i am amazed in the drastic change she is going through. This made me sad too. Boston knew he was being filmed, he looked directly at his mum. Boston is an anxious child so he will feel shame twofold. What a teaching opportunity wasted, just so Bonnie could have a laugh at how teaching kids suck. I've been in this same situation with my anxious child. Just explain that it's good manners to wait till Grandpa has finished speaking. No shaming needed, you get a child who will understand what has taken place instead of being confused and sad. This is what exasperates an anxious child, the unknown/the confusion which in turn causes the overboard reaction.
I get that this is just one situation that we can see and she most probably is already teaching Boston this, but why shame your child on YouTube in front of the whole world especially when you could have turned it into a beautiful learning moment that he could look back on when he's older.

The shush was really mean. Boston called Grandpa 9 times and got a shush in response. You can't expect children to have manners if those around them don't have any. Really sad.

The saddest part about the clip for me was we never saw grandpa acknowledge Boston, even after he was done with the fire. It was all about Cody. This family seems to really love picking favorites. I bet they were the same way with their own kids when they were younger.

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
I went back and watched the Grandpa Griff episode again because I didn't even notice the rebuff the first time. I just think he was completely focused on teaching Cody. Boston just wanted to be a part of this experience and it was a special time for Cody to learn how to build a fire. Maybe Bonnie should have stepped in and removed Boston but her doing that would have also distracted from the fire-building lesson.
Sometimes kids just have to learn not to interrupt. I know Boston is extra sensitive and needs extra care but Bonnie can't win here right now. She's beat up for giving him extra attention, that means she's reinforcing his whining. She's criticized for ignoring his sensitivity, she isn't thoughtful enough. We don't know if "Grandpa Griff" talked to Boston off camera or if Bonnie did.
I did notice in today's vlog that she talked about his sensitivity at swimming lessons. She addressed how she is trying to build self-confidence in him. It will be a process though. Interesting that she mentioned Joel was that way as a child too.

This kind of attitude towards her kids concerns me. Like fuck I'd like my child almost get his fingers burned just because my father was teaching them how to build a fire, wtf? Don't have enough pennies to let the kid use two matches??OldHag wrote:
And Cody allowing himself to be in pain and almost burned just to not disappoint Grandpa? Sad. And Bonnie was so proud of it.

But that's not teaching a child to not interrupt. He just made Boston feel ignored and unwanted. He could have acknowledged him and said something like "in a minute, boston". And anyway, why couldn't he interrupt Cody's precious lesson? Why couldn't he be a part of it?

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
Do you really think a 4-year-old should be learning how to build a fire? It seemed like this was a special rite of passage for Cody now that he was 6. I'm not Mormon but Boy Scouts is huge for Mormons. Both Joel and Jared have talked about getting their Eagle Scout, which is no small thing. I suspect this was just the start of Cody's path to Boy Scouts.boredmamaneedsdrama wrote:But that's not teaching a child to not interrupt. He just made Boston feel ignored and unwanted. Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
I don't see an issue with him being around them and trying to "learn" even if he's actually too young to do so. It's just a nice thing for him to be included. But again, it's not about whether he should learn or not, but that even if they thought that he shouldn't be a part of it, they can still act like freaking humans and tell the boy that. Say not now Boston, in a moment Boston. Instead of ignoring him and letting out a loud shush while the rest of the family laughs as him.justkidding wrote:Do you really think a 4-year-old should be learning how to build a fire? Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
You are certainly right. He could have used a kinder method of telling Boston he was busy. Obviously Boston could watch the lesson, he just didn't want him interrupting it.

He could have even said something like "Boston, please don't interrupt".

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
Just going "shh" is not teaching him anything but the fact that grandpa didn't care about what he had to say. And though we know that's not the case & that he was just paying attention to Cody in the moment, a 4 year old doesn't understand that until you teach them. He ran off because he was upset and probably embarrassed.

Geeze why the hell is that toddler shirtless in his car seat? And his tongue tie is still pretty bad! I wonder if they didn't keep up with the aftercare when he got his laser revision done??? No wonder he wasn't gaining weight when she was breastfeeding.
That waterpark looked fun!!

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Not Your Average BonBon Part 11
Omg good catch. It looks like his tongue tie is really bad. And you are right that is probably why she had such a struggle with breastfeeding! I hope it doesn't effect anything as he gets older. My 18 year old nephew still has a tongue tie and is pretty self conscious about it. He can't even stick his tongue out.PostyMcPosterston wrote:Geeze why the hell is that toddler shirtless in his car seat? And his tongue tie is still pretty bad! For this family I wouldn't be surprised about them showing a 4 year old how to build a fire... after all this is the family that gave their 4 (or was he 5?) year old a pocket knife for Christmas. I don't think it had anything to do with not wanting Boston involved because they don't think a 4 year old should learn how to do that.justkidding wrote:Do you really think a 4-year-old should be learning how to build a fire?
