At some point, its up to the parents to decide what is best for their children, and where the line is with what they are willing to expose them to. Ellie has stated in the past that she doesn't feel conventions are right for her children. Taking your children to an event that you yourself are tense and really don't want to be at just isn't right in my opinion. These are children... not animals in a zoo.
What is the price that made this impossible to pass up? Would I let someone pay me $10000 to take my children to the park so people could look at them and take pictures for an hour?
No, because that has the potential to do more damage than good to my kids. What is it that makes CVX better than the FL or CA conventions anyway? The fact that its UT so the attendees are less diverse? The kids aren't attending the afterparties and things anyway, so the "family friendly" argument is just BS. Most of the fans attending the other conventions are children anyway so I'm sorry, I really think Ellie isn't projecting her kids so much as she's just using them as an excuse for not attending herself unless she can get a DATE out of it or something.
The one in cali went crazy during the meetups not afterparties or not just afterparties. Some were banned from future conventions davey had said how bad it was and he had to get out for a break. It was all over the news they way this young Youtubers and instgram "stars" acted and parents allowing their 12year olds to be there taking part in it all. I know there was instaces in vloggerfair in seattle but this is the first one i heard about on mainstream news. I think they make a good choice to keep the kids home from some.
I will never, ever be able to wrap my brain around people paying for private meet and greets with ...families who film themselves online. I usually skip over convention vlogs but is it mostly 12-year-olds who are dying to meet them, or are there grown adults (not just kids' chaperones) traveling and paying to meet these people?!! It just makes 0 sense to me.

Actually, the craziness was because some of the YTers didn't stick to the backstage areas. What the kids would have been exposed to it pretty much the same.... crowds.
These are two separate issues to me. One is an issue of physical danger, and the other of exposure and exploitation. That's great that Ellie and Jackson didn't have the boys on stage with them at those conventions then (not that this was where the physical danger was) but I don't think they needed to be on stage at CVX either. The fact that the crowd was mostly fans of family vloggers doesn't mean it wasn't still putting the kids on display.

Do you not see the irony of your last sentence? Clues in the name. Family Vloggers. Of course people wanted to see the kids. Hell, you guys complain pretty loudly when the have a vlog with little or no kid content.

You missed my point and are making the same ignorant assumption I was implying E&J are making by thinking it's somehow safer.
They are family vloggers... it doesn't mean the fans are family or safe. Threats can still be there.
And there's a difference between saying E&J ignore the kids, and parading them around on stage when convenient

I was very entertained by the comment section today. It was great! Minions are confused why so many of people are being sarcastic about her pregnancy symptoms. We just _know_ Ellie. Thats what she thinks. They are building it up... How many of you commented?
One of the comments someone posted they were leaving a creators class and calvin was with grandpa and ran up to her and gave her a hug. She said I dont know who he thought I was. OMG that is so dangerous to give a stranger a hug. I know one time Cal was gone for walk with grandpa and grandpa Mecham was still there. I hope it was Ellie father she would be really mad at grandpa M. If it was him. But im sorry scary i would not let a strange kid hug me but apparently everyone is not the same because she and the minions thought it was cute.
Did you all see this comment? Sad to see we are all right about Ellie. And they are deleting comments.
Oh, and apparently, the phone call with the doctors office _confirmed_ her pregnancy, and the rest of us just didn't hear it. And all the people getting pissed at people thinking Ellie is on the "I'm pregnant" train, don't seem to notice that the vlog itself is about their day at CVX. But the title and thumbnail are all about Ellie and her zits. Because Ellie is the important one. Not the day networking or all the people who stood in line to meet them.

Glad I screenshot it! Poor little girl. I can't imagine waiting in line at that age to meet someone I look up to, who seems to be all sweetness and light, but who really just can't be bothered.
We went to meet Bethany Hamilton (Google her if you don't know who she is) at a surf shop. We waited four hours. She was only supposed to stay an hour. She stayed until everyone who came got to meet her, and her smile never faded. She gave my daughter and this Down Syndrome girl both big hugs. She was sweet and poised and friendly.
That comment just confirms what we all thought - Ellie is narcissistic and mean, doesn't care and false - Jared is genuine (or at least smart enough to know he needs to appear genuine). I hope some of the convention people got video of ellie being rude/mean and can expose them.
The comment is still on my YouTube page. Maybe it hasn't gotten enough likes yet for them to see it. But it's getting likes, so they will see it. And likely delete it. Bets on passive aggressive response from Ellie? Something that ends with "Have a good day" and the kiss emoji?
PS-- didn't mean to sound snarky with the "Google her if you don't know who she is"-- I just know not everyone knows of her, and didn't want to take up the thread explaining.

I still see the comment too. I feel sorry for that girl, and any fan that has a disappointing experience when meeting their idol. I can't say I'm surprised though. I'm pretty sure there were similar comments around the time of Vloggerfair and people attributed to Ellie not feeling well.
This CVX stuff had a very 'let's visit the local elementary school' vibe about it. Somehow I thought it would be a fancier thing- not sure why, really. The whole scene with Ellie and Jared doing handstands on the stage with Jackson milling about in the background really didn't sit well with me. It definitely felt like they were putting their kids on display.

I thought it was weird the way they paraded him up to the stage with Grampa Mecham.
