Yeah I did think it was strange, but then again if I was told to just pack up for a night I'd take pyjamas, clothes, underwear, toiletries etc and it soon adds up, and the only suitcase I have is quite a big one, if they're not used to taking weekend trips (they're kids, so I don't think they are haha) they probably only have the suitcases they use for family holidays, so it seems more reasonable than if it was a grown adult taking a weekend trip with that much luggagesostinkincute wrote:Was anyone else confused at the amount of luggage the kids brought on this one day excursion? Kevin told them to pack one change of clothes and one pair of underwear, and the next thing you know they are each carrying book bags AND it looks like they each had a rolling hard shell suitcase that they had checked.

What a bad investment. That car is so fancy I can't even see Ruby being able to drive it. Seems like it would be expensive to repair.
Re: 8 remodelled passengers Part #12
It's awful! It doesn't make a lot of sense to buy it, Shari is nearly 16 and so will be able to drive soon, and she won't drive that, I can see her getting a job and buying her own car eventually, in a couple of years she won't have all those kids to cart about - Shari & Chad will be driving, and she'll have 4 kids left. Fair enough they may have trips etc. but I think Shari is heading to go to college, and Chad may follow her. So, again, in 3/4 years that van will be useless, and they'll regret just picking something slightly larger without the gimmicks. It really does not make sense - it's like my family buying a massive new house just as my brother and I move out. Pointless.seriously7 wrote:What a bad investment. It has made me think though, maybe Ruby has bought this (ridiculously expensive) van to rub in her family's face that they're doing well and they can afford to buy things such as that?
Re: 8 remodelled passengers Part #12
They could have a big van (say a sprinter passenger van) that would hold more people/ you can take the back seats out to create loads of storage for roadtrips/ the kids don't all have to sit next to eachother/ grandparents can fit in too. WITHOUT all the fancy gadgets!
They are a long way from the family that didn't do gadgets and didn't have a games console etc. now, wherever they go they'll have screens!
Also if Julie is not one of the 'big kids' she shouldn't have to do chores like the 'big kids' but she has been doing chores the entire time they've vlogged (so she was Russell's age) and it wasn't just making her bed or helping someone else do something in a 'team' or a nice bonding time, it was independently working in the garden, clearning etc.
Not all kids are the same at each age, and no Russell isn't like Julie when she was 6 but if she has the responsibilities of a 'big kid' she should get the rewards too.

That purchase seemed so impulsive....what happened to following Dave Ramsey and only but used because vehicle depreciate in value like crazy? Only reason I can see why it would be kinda reasonable is because of abbeys massive harp

To be fair he didn't tell them where they were going. Maybe they packed bathing suits and towels and electronics. I'm 100% sure they each packed some sugary snacks because hey do that every time they go anywhere. Kids generally aren't good at packing essentials.sostinkincute wrote:Was anyone else confused at the amount of luggage the kids brought on this one day excursion? But does Abbey's harp travel much? I honestly don't know because I don't watch every day. If they take it to recitals, that's one thing, but if they don't, it shouldn't factor into the purchasegymchick43 wrote:That purchase seemed so impulsive....what happened to following Dave Ramsey and only but used because vehicle depreciate in value like crazy? Born and raised in Cincinnati. I was kind of excited when they said they were here but then watching their attitudes from that point until the figured out they were buying the van I was getting mad. Like these kids are getting so ungrateful and entitled. Even if my Dad actually took us on a trip to work on a farm I would have been excited but maybe that's because I am from farm towns and it can be really fun! I was waiting for them to say something negative about my home town and the hatred I started to feel was very uncomfortable. So I'm going to take a break from watching hahahahahaha

Screw the van, I'm genuinely upset that Julie wasn't taken along on the trip. It should have been Shari, Chad, Abby, & Julie, or it should have been JUST Shari and Chad, the older 2. Julie is not a little kid like Eve and Russell. I'm disgusted but not surprised. That is so fucked up to do that to her.

I think Chad even thought it was kind of crappy Julie wasn't coming... he was like is Julie coming? No. And then it looked like he kind of sighed.

Ruby needed help with the littles as well as the huge cleaning projects she needed done. In big families it is not uncommon for the older ones to look after the younger ones. How do you think people with large families manage their families? Look at the Duggars and the Bates. They could not have had so many kids if the older girls didn't help raise the younger ones.

Re: 8 remodelled passengers Part #12
I don't think that you guys realize how much money this family is making each month. On the conservative side they are making $50 thousand a month. I guarantee they paid cash for that van. It is totally ugly and a total luxury expense but I am sure they justify the purchase because they didn't upgrade and buy an expensive home. I have driven a Yukon Denali for years and it is a beast. I can't imagine what it is going to be like driving that van. But to each their own. Remember at this point in their YouTube Career Ellie and Jared were building a new home that the designers put a price tag of 1 million on. I am sure that this family believes they deserve it.

So, she was so proud of herself for yelling at teenagers for swearing, and she calls the Tannerites' dog "your damn dog". Hypocrisy much?

That van is pretty hideous and is going to be awful to drive. It won't be their every day vehicle, right? Just for like, longer trips?
