April and Davey

I stopped watching because of the blatant favoritism of Ender (who is an annoying little shit) and the constant ignoring of Ambree.

Yeah, they are simply ok. Nothing exiting but also nothing controversial.

Can't really make much of April, sometimes it seems life itself is a bit much for her.
Like Davey and his dry humor. Granted he's not a beauty, but he has character.
Roberta rocks, sad to see her go (in May?).
The kids are fine. They seem to have their own channel but I never watched that.

I'm not religious at all and I live in Europe (Switzerland), so the mormon lifestyle and the US way of living (read: way too much junk food, and no table manners) is sometimes a bit cultureshocking to me. But it's interesting.

I don't think everyone in the US is that way. My step sons have table manners and in our house we eat healthy. We don't allow soda as a regular drink.

I know It's an utter generalisation of mine regarding the bad table manners and eating habit, but that's the impression I have when I watch US family vlogs.

Roberta is a 16yo exchange student from Spain. She is with the April and Davey family since a few months (or maybe even a year) and will be going back home in May.

I think overall they are liked. The kids seem active, they go outside alot and get to do fun things which is alot more than alot of vloggers can do.
Honestly though I find it hard to give them views knowing they are friends with 8 Passengers and Jordan Page. 8 Passengers made it known they are against gay marriage and did that whole Chik Fil A video .. and the Pages are fake and obnoxious (why doesnt SHE have a thread here?!There is one on GOMI blog but it doesnt get much attention sadly. I could snark on Jordan all day er'day.)

A lot of vloggers have atrocious table manners. It makes me sad that because of them, the rest of the world thinks we're slobs who eats with our fingers, chew with our mouths open, and talk with our mouths full. Lovely.

Personal-- we had an exchange student from Greenland, when I was a teenager, and she and my dad bumped heads because she was more of a free spirit than he could handle. She ended up going to a different family.

Though strict Mormons, they do seem to be opened minded and forgiving. Everyone makes mistakes. I need to research the rules some, but Berta did seem like a bit of a free spirit. Looking at her Instagram, it seems like she had a lot of freedom in Spain, and seemed to be acting more "mature" that what we see in the vlogs.

We had an exchange student when I was growing up, but I was never familiar with the rules because I was young. Roberta is obviously upset, I'm really curious what the action was that requires this consequence, but I respect her privacy.
She formed a special bond with EB, going to miss seeing them together!

Yeah my initial thought was that it was kind of a clash of cultures between mormonism and European expectations of teenagers, but I kind of think it was something else. I believe them that they would keep her if they could. It was a very sad video and what makes me the most sad about it, is that it had to be broadcast publicly for everyone to see. They handled it the best they could under the circumstances but I can imagine it's pretty difficult for all of them and that being in front of a camera is the last place they (especially Roberta) would want to be. On the other hand, if it is a conflict of morals or whatever, and the Orgills are willing to keep her and work together with her, that would be great material for showing cooperation, understanding, forgiveness, and problem resolution skills. It's all pretty sad; I liked the way she fit into their family in a not-so-perfect but natural way. She's a good kid.

I am so sad for Roberta leaving. I was sad for her leaving in May now we have to say goodbye two months sooner. I am sooooooo curious what really happened. I can see April and Davey being super defensive of Roberta's impression on their kids. Like maybe cursing or suggestive humor they really didn't think was funny because Zade is so impressionable. I just really don't know what she could have done that "terrible" that the exchange program rules were broken. I'm conflicted.

I’m also wondering what happened. I don’t think it has anything to do with the family or their Religion (especially not at this point).
Unfortunately getting send home isn’t that uncommon. There are plenty videos on YouTube where you can hear weird stories. Some Programms have really really strict rules,local coordinators can also be a problem.
I know someone that got send home for attending a birthday party where other kids were drinking underage (!!!).
Her parents could also be the reason. Just recently she had to take a test because she’s trying to get into a new private school. She said if she didn’t do well she would just stay in her current school but maybe her parents have a different opinion...
