Why doesn’t she wash the new clothes before the kids wear them? especially the girls panties! Who knows what they came in contact with during the shipping process.

I have wondered if Claudia's increased muscle tone is due to cerebral palsy from not receiving care until there was a problem.Baconsgirl wrote:I was born at 42 weeks and was born with my umbilical cord wrapped around my neck resulting in very minor cerebral palsy, so I really am praying that this baby doesn’t suffer from this prelonged pregnancy. It makes me upset she isn’t getting an opinion outside a 20 year old book.

Re: Andrea Mills
Her due date was supposed to be April 12th. She’ll be 43 weeks on Thursday.
To her credit, she is checking herself via Doppler. Hopefully she’s been keeping track of heart rates.
To be honest, I think Care is dependent on where you are. Midwest America — I would have gotten NST’s after 42. Only one ultrasound recommended — anatomy scan. I would not have been induced unless I consented or there was a medical reason to do so. I gave birth before 42 weeks, so that all was avoided.
Monitoring can be important, particularly in labor. I had decels during contractions, but was given oxygen while pushing. I had the baby vaginally — comes wrapped around the neck twice, and once around the chest. She was fine, but it explained the decels.
I have an understanding for the unnassisted birthing community, but historically, women gave birth in groups. They worked together, helped each other. Birthing solo was a thing for women living rural and isolated. Traditionally, women assisted women. Hence, midwives.

Re: Andrea Mills
It is so troubling to watch these kids all crammed into such a small home...
Does anyone know if they confirmed they're part of the quiverful movement? If so, where do they say?

Someone in one of her videos said something about quiver full and she answered her and from that comment I learned that she is part of quiver full.

I laughed at Andrea's answer. Someone commented that they could 'smell' quiverfull. Andrea replied: Interesting. Wonder what bigotry smells like?
Andrea doesn't use birth control. Tom does. He says it has not been a given that they will add another baby...it's decided as they go along. On a case by case basis. That doesn't sound like quiverfull to me. Aren't quiverfulls always open to more babies? Usually with the man pushing the idea? I think Tom has to be convinced each time.

Re: Andrea Mills
I wouldn't be surprised if Andrea has inklings into that belief system or at the very least is pro Quiverfull women watching her channel. Usually, people who are Quiverfull are into some pretty fundamentalist beliefs and that having as many babies as you can is only the tip of the iceberg.

Re: Andrea Mills
I could see Andrea being Quiverfull, but Tom not so much. I have seen it with a couple of families. The ladies wanted free reign on having kids, but the dads (normally the only providers) slammed the hammer down on that one. Of course, the women normally consented because part of Quiverfull is submission. You can always pray that your husband’s mind be changed. Or they go a middle route of Quiverfull — not trying, not preventing. No chemical birth control.

Baby Hannah was born! Thank goodness, she looks perfectly fine. They’ll be live shortly according to this. I feel SO relieved.
Edit to add: if that is Andrea holding her, it looks like she has a bandage in the crook of her elbow. I wonder if she sought medical attention and got induced.

Re: Andrea Mills
Double post, sorry. Watching their live. Hannah was almost ten pounds and was born in the bathroom. After the placenta passed, Andrea felt woozy and briefly passed out so they called EMTs. Didn’t go to the hospital at that point but did when the wooziness happened again. She had a few blood clots that the doctor took care of and feels great now.
Hannah is adorable! All that hair!

Re: Andrea Mills
Whoa.. Glad they called an EMT to be sure.
Babies are a blessing and with natural family planning, easy to get for some. I think she'll try her whole life.

Re: Andrea Mills
Wow I was so nervous for them...glad things seemed to have worked out and they weren’t totally crazy trying to handle bleeding by their selves. They really are lucky nothing worse happened. Still got to say, there’s a good chance a hospital trip could have been avoided if she had a professional attending the birth. That’s what I don’t get...why not find a midwife you trust to help you carry out your birth plan safely, than do it alone and have to increased risk of needing far more invasive emergency interventions.

Re: Andrea Mills
Wow, Hannah is gorgeous! I am so happy everything went well. Sucks that Andrea broke her toe.
Considering she was 20 days past, Hannah probably had no vernix on her which would explain why she looks the way she does.
Andrea never mentioned if she took her tinctures or tea.
After birth transfers are more common with home births, normally due to blood issues. Midwives don’t mess with that, and I’m glad Andrea and Tom made good judgement calls.

Honestly, with a home birth, she probably would have been transferred due to blood clots. The midwife probably would have just pointed it out, and they would have transferred without EMT and went directly to the hospital.Tiger27 wrote:Wow I was so nervous for them...glad things seemed to have worked out and they weren’t totally crazy trying to handle bleeding by their selves. Re: Andrea Mills
i had some blood clots after my last birth, clotting is good it means the bleeding is stopping. I also got light headed after they passed, my MW gave me a tincture and had me drink a cup of electrolyte drink I never transferred. I think thats why having someone there to assess the situation, if I'd have been alone I'd have needed to call 911.

Re: Andrea Mills
Exactly, there are many interventions a professional midwife could have tried before transferring to hospital. She could have tried a shot of pitocin, had someone massage her uterus, all sorts of options. She was probably too woozy to carry out anything herself so she had to resort to calling 911. A transfer still may have been necessary but had someone been attending the birth, they could have at least tried all the less invasive options first. I just think she’d have been more successful in achieving all her wishes to be at home and do things 100% naturally had she had a professional on hand.notyomama wrote:i had some blood clots after my last birth, clotting is good it means the bleeding is stopping. Re: Andrea Mills
Hi all! I'm relatively new to this forum. I've been so nervous for her these past few weeks. So Glad everything went relatively ok with the birth.
I might have missed it, if so I apologize. I know she wanted an unassisted home birth, but did she ever address why she didn't want anyone (even a friend-doesn't have to be a midwife, just in case) except her husband there?
