So it’s better to let an animal sit at a shelter their whole lives never experiencing a loving home because you might one day not be able to afford it’s medical bills???JanetheJabberwocky wrote:When you adopt an animal, you’re also adopting its future illnesses and the responsibility to provide medical care. Not sentenced to death just because his owners weren’t financially stable.
Animals are very expensive, I can testify to that and sympathize. But this is why families need to consider all the costs that they will be responsible for before choosing to bring an animal home. People jump into getting pets because they’re “so cute” but denying the proper medical care is selfish and negligent.
No one is adopting a cat that needs expensive surgery. You’re just delaying the inevitable and not letting the cat suffer in pain. There’s no right answer here.
You’ve definitely have your priorities wrong. While I agree taking the pet to a no kill shelter *in some instances* is better than putting them down, even no kill shelters put animals down that are sick. They can’t afford $6000 medical bills either. It’s the kind thing to do for the animal. Letting them sit and suffer in a cage until they inevitably die is cruel and horrible.
