They might actually do better if Katie went back to work at least part time. A stay at home dad is different. There are SAHMs all over YT. I wasn't watching back when Cullen was staying home with Gaines. I will have to check those vlogs out.

Ah I loved watching Cullen stay home with little baby Gaines. I watched almost everyday back then (I barely watch one full vlog a week these days)lmmomSD wrote:They might actually do better if Katie went back to work at least part time. I agree. I think Katie's parents are financially comfortable because her father has worked as a Radiologist for a long time. I'm sure he had the means to pay for Katie's college but I don't see her parents being multi-millionaire's or anything. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the trust fund idea. Katie and Kelli will probably receive a generous inheritance when their parents pass but I just don't see it being a trust that they can dip into right now.
JMHO.
I’d say both sides of her parents come from money. Maybe not billionaire but you can tell they are old money for sure. Their house is very telling.
i agree! Their house is actually listed as a historic home by their county and been included in luxury holiday home tours in the past. In the article about the house, Dolly said most of the furniture pieces are family heirlooms - so I'm guessing Katie's parents also came from a lot of money. Sure, they aren't billionaires, but they certainly ARE multi-millionaires!! Doctors really do make a crazy insane amount of money and her dad is a radiologist - so he's probably making $500K a year EASILY!
My sister is a radiologist and YEARS ago she was making 200k per year. She had a beautiful large home in Seattle, a beach house and goes on lots of expensive vacations. I'm sure Katie's father makes far more than 500k a year.

Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)
When I was in nursing school, the joke was that if you wanted to marry a doctor, marry a radiologist or a dermatologist. Lots of money and no on-call. No "sorry, I have to leave our Christmas dinner to operate on someone". Between that and the guys I worked with, I can easily see Granddoc doing really well. Not crazy rich, like Kardashians, but easily able to afford their lifestyle. Not sure about the trust fund, but college and weddings weren't a struggle for him to pay for.

Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)
I think some of the reason they are able to afford their life with only youtube is because they have a pretty boring life. You don't see them bleeding money the way DB does with the constant vacations, first class plane tickets, large Amazon purchases just for the sake of one vlog... besides the house what really are their expenses? They don't have 7 different cars. I bet at least some of their expenses are paid for when they go to those youtube conventions, which is pretty much the only places they go. The beach house in FL is free - owned by her parents. The condo in Tuscaloosa is free - owned by her parents. I can't really remember them taking any big trips that weren't to one of those places or to a youtube convention. They did fly to CA for one party.. but that's just one time. They don't do that kind of stuff very often. They never had to pay for daycare for their kids which can be a huge expense. They don't buy designer clothes. My guess is all those special style clothes that the kids have are purchased by Granddolly. I think they are pretty fiscally conservative most of the time and that is how they afford it.

Yes, it's true that interventional radiologists have to do call. But not plain old radiologists.Liz_444 wrote:My sister is on call. I agree. He is a general radiologist that I’m sure does pretty well but by no means are they multimillionaires like some would like to think.lmmomSD wrote:Yes, it's true that interventional radiologists have to do call. I do admire their strong family, so I have no doubt that whether they were a family of physicians, accountants or Walmart sales clerks they would support each other as best they could if any of them went through a hard financial or emotional situation. They are blessed to have the family they do. Dolly seems like a true good ol mom who loves and takes care of everyone !

Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)
OMG - JUST STOP!!!! Do you know what at multimillionaire is?? Someone who has more than a million dollars! Multi = more than one.beautynoob wrote:I agree. He is a general radiologist that I’m sure does pretty well but by no means are they multimillionaires like some would like to think.
FFS, Katie's parent's are EASILY multimillionaires!!!! Just their properties alone are probably worth $2-4+ million!
Also, her father seems to be a HIGHLY respected radiologist affiliated with SEVERAL hospitals in Birmingham. He's definitely making a TON of $$$$. Cullen even thanked him for getting his own father into the hospital for tests MONTHS before he would otherwise because Katie's dad has connections!
My sister is also a doctor (in New Mexico), she's only 35, but making $300+K a year. Doctors make a TON!
Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)
I'm sorry, but you're really the one who needs to stop. My grandfather is a VERY successful specialist, and makes over $500K a year, but it took him years to get to this point. It also took him years to pay off his student loans, and build up enough money for a comfortable retirement. A multi-millionaire you are not if you are spending the money you earn, which Katie's parents clearly are. My guess is their money is tied up in investments. They probably live a luxurious and comfortable lifestyle, but it's unlikely they are multi-millionaires and have the money to support Katie and Cullen as well. Not that they should even have to.ewokfan11 wrote:OMG - JUST STOP!!!! Do you know what at multimillionaire is?? Someone who has more than a million dollars! You really don't know what you are talking about, so I don't think it's fair to speak to others like they are stupid for expressing their opinion. I probably shouldn't even engage your post, but the argument that they are OBVIOUSLY multi-millionaires is just juvenile. As we've seen with many YTers, its very easy to piss through hundreds of thousands, so yearly earnings is no indication of actual wealth and security.

Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)
Doctors make a ton but also spend a ton unless they are the type to drive simple vehicles and live in smaller homes. From what I've seen, Katie's parents live a luxury lifestyle, and this costs money. My guess is they have a good retirement savings, but they are going to need that to maintain their lifestyle, beach house, etc. I just don't see where people are thinking that $300+ is a lot of money living a lifestyle like that. As you earn more you really do become accustomed to it, so it's not the same as experiencing a windfall and putting a million into savings. The multi-millionaire argument seems reaching to me.
Even if they do have millions, they worked hard for that, and I fail to see where it's ok for Cullen and Katie to rely on them for any kind of help. We have a hefty education savings for our children when they are older, enough to cover any education plan they hope to follow, but I'll be pissed if they use all that hard earned money we've saved on a degree they have no plan on using. Katie and Cullen are losers if they reach the point where they need to sponge of Katie's parents.... their having money to share is irrelevant imo.

Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)
Exactly. They're adults and have their own family now. They're not disabled. They have children of their own that they are supposed to be responsible for. It seems like people are thinking it's ok for them to continue to pursue this fantasy of YouTube success, (because at the rate they're going, they're not a success) because Katie has rich parents. Maybe I am misunderstanding. But to me, what money her parents have or don't have is irrelevant. They need to be supporting themselves and their children and saving for their own future. And it doesn't look like YouTube is going to do that for them in the long term.

Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)
OK, I'm out of here - I'm not here to argue with the usual people who pick fights! - but please stop being silly that Katie's family isn't extremely well off. The Walker family has plenty of money and I'm sure they don't go to bed at night worried about financial things. People of their wealth INVEST and make even more money!
My parents are retired and live off investment income and investment interest (and, yes, they are multimillionaires who are currently in Bora Bora). They own lots of rental property and made good investments. Katie's parents are probably the same.
That being said, Katie and Cullen shouldn't rely on them for $$$ help, but I'm sure they went full-time on YT knowing they have a financial safety net of sorts.
I will say this, maybe her parents DO give them some money - so what?!?! They probably want her to live a stress-free life and provide for her kids.

Change of topic, but I totally think Katie should cut her hair in a similar style to the wig. It looked great on her! I think shorter hair would really suit her face.

Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)
You completely missed the point of my post which was yes they are financially comfortable clearly but most importantly that they seem to have a great support system in their family. Anyway, I won’t engage further .
This is a forum, everyone has an opinion and you are not who decides who needs to shut up or not. I imagine only a mod could if you’re breaking rules!
I agree with the shorter hair, it would frame her face better. I love her hair when it’s a little darker too!
