Re: DailyAppropriatingCultures (Part 97)
Slightly off topic but i'm glad i'm not the only one that has this problem!! My daughter was always big for her age as well and we have the worst time trying to find something that fit her that wasn't "sexy werewolf" or whatever BS. The kids costumes were too small but the ten costumes were just too MUCH! thankfully we always seem to find something that would work even if i had to alter it to make it not so reveling. She was a voodoo priestess last year (my favorite costume we have ever done btw lol) mainly bc it was one of the only longer dresses (even though the slit was too her hip.. ugh) that was offered! This year she and her friend are Dunkin Doughnuts, basketball players with doughnut pool floats around their waists.lmmomSD wrote:Yep. I like you a lot, HS, and you and I usually agree. It's not about heroes and villains. It's about sexualizing children. It's next to impossible to find an a non-sexy costume for a tween girl. My daughter was big for her age, and every year, it was a huge struggle to find a costume for her that wasn't sexualizing her. Halloween is supposed to be about fun.HelloSweetie wrote:Nah, that's not it at all. But ok.queentee20 wrote:
The board has become weird because weird things are seen in the vlogs!!! I’m a huge HQ fan btw, and I am IN LOVE with the joker which is why I know those costumes aren’t kid friendly. It’s weird AF. Another thing is I think the vlogs have become so boring we have nothing else to comment on
Anyway, I said I wasn't going to rant and I did.
Agree to disagree.

Maybe I worded things badly, or maybe you're not even referring to what I said. But I don't think they should have dressed Finn up as an "educational" character. I meant, I think it's sad that all he's exposed to are Disney and things like comic books and Star Wars. He never had a chance to like Elmo. I do agree with HS that what he needs is more engaged parents, rather than more screen time. And I know it's not going to happen that he'll be exposed to educational programs. Doesn't make it any less sad. I also believe he does like Batman.100midas wrote:Agreed. More and more nitpicking and fabrication/exaggeration of things that should be non-issues has been going on the past few weeks. I'm not saying they're great people, but not every single thing they do has to be wrong. I mean, seriously? Critiquing them for not dressing Finn up as an educational character/role model? And questioning him liking Batman? There's a million legitimate things to criticize them for so I don't know why everyone has been grasping at straws lately.HelloSweetie wrote:I can't believe I'm defending them for the second time today (where is Theirmom?) but does everyone seriously expect that Halloween is only about your kid dressing up as good role models? I don't think little girls need to dress up slutty like HQ, but lets be real here, most kids just look at her pic and see a fun costume. They don't know anything about her and how she uses sex to manipulate. Also, she's a murderer, so come on, there's worse thing than her being sexy. Kids like to dress up as heroes and villains. Even Jack Skellington is technically a villain since he kidnaps Santa Claus! It's Halloween and it's just good fun. It's up to parents to make sure their kids are dressed appropriately and aren't offending anyone (or attracting unhealthy attention) with their costumes, but I see no reason for us to start making sure that Halloween is just about being characters you agree with.
This board has become weird lately.

Sometimes I think that different people's opinions get glommed together into one, and then people start with the "this board is weird". There's a lot of people here. Different things are going to bug us. Just because something bugs someone else and not you, doesn't mean it's invalid. I think part of the reason people have a hard time believing that Finn likes Batman is that they have pushed things on Ollie in the past. And they show so little of Finn as an individual, that nobody knows what he likes except for what Bryan and Missy tell us. I happened to see the one vlog where he picked out the Batman book, and was so excited about it. Not sure if I would have known he likes Batman if I hadn't seen that.
Enough rambling from me.

She wasn't just tall-- curvy too. Sigh. Mothers of boys have at least that part easier. Young men's costumes aren't all about tarting up every character out there.onbreak wrote:I have tall girls too.. Its a struggle

Re: DailyAppropriatingCultures (Part 97)
clothing in general is a struggle for tall tweens/teens.. she's too tall for any kids clothes but its super hard to shop in juniors or women's clothing bc she doesn't have the chest (or hips) to make things fit appropriately! (like v necks or anything different than just a regular crew neck. She doesn't have the boobs for it to hang right so the V just comes down wayyy to far.. it's like pulling teeth. UGH! lol)onbreak wrote:I have tall girls too.. Its a struggle

I don't know if weird is the word I would have chosen, but the board is definitely different lately. Less mature if that's possible? The same few posters are posting A LOT, so even though there are many people on the board, the harsher nitpicky posts are definitely in the majority. There used to be a lot more debate going on, and not just hate for hates sake.lmmomSD wrote: Maybe I worded things badly, or maybe you're not even referring to what I said. I actually think there is a lot of truth to that.HelloSweetie wrote:I think Bryan looks more like Suzanne than Missy does. Personal: My husband and I were playing around with that app (I think a lot of YTers were using it a while ago) that can make you look old, young, or even the opposite sex, and the female version of my husband looked just like my mom. It was so freaky! I had no idea how much he looked like her until that moment lol.

I hope they watch Finn with that medal - I don't think it's safe for a 2 year old, he could choke on the ribbon part! Each time BryLard kisses Mithy's ass I seriously want to barf - like stop with the fake obsession - we all know he was drooling over the super hero actors that came to the party...or Jared hahaha I find it so stupid that these idiots spend money on breakfast!! The whole point of having fresh eggs is so you can make fresh breakfast every "dang" day!! Here is the menu to the place they go where they must easily drop over $50 on breakfast: http://www.1mosegghouse.com/menu.html
Pause Grandma Missy's face at 3:16 - you're welcome!! That Baymax costume looks like a perfect for BryLard - ofcourse he has to act like he's too small for it!!

Re: DailyAppropriatingCultures (Part 97)
This makes me sad for you, i'm sorry that this happened and that your teachers were bitches like that. We have been going through some BS at my daughters school recently. I got a phone call saying i needed to come bring her a change of clothes for her bc her bra strap kept falling off her shoulder and since she had on a sleeveless shirt on, it was considered "inappropriate". Needless to say i had a few choice words for the admin that day.. fast forward a year and a half... My daughter had a male classmate grab her on the ass, he also did the same thing to a half dozen other girls, and made sexual comments to all of them. My daughter was pulled out of class and had to write up a report on what happened too her. i NEVER got a call from the school that any of this happened, and had to find out from my daughter 2 weeks after the fact. They thought that it was appropriate to make me leave work bc GOD FORBID she has a bra on, but then when she is sexually harassed at school, i don't even get a note sent home. I've cleaned house at her school over this and have made arrangements to go in front of the school board (along with other parents of other girls this has happened too) next month about the whole situation..queentee20 wrote:Whatever it is, this thread is angelic compared to others... I’m still scarred from reading those last night.
And on the topic of sexualizing children. I too was a bigger girl when I was 13 I was 5’1 & 150 lbs with a huge chest and butt. I really wanted to be little red riding hood but the biggest TEEN size didn’t fit! I bought it anyways because I REALLY wanted to be her... I wore leggings and everything when I wore my costume to school so that I could as covered up as possible! WELL, at school later that day I overheard some of the teachers talking about me (quietly but I still heard them) and they were saying how a girl like me shouldn’t be wearing such an outfit because it was too “sexy” ... i was 13!!! It’s disgusting to look back on especially since I really tried to cover up all the skin I could. Anyways, I definetly understand the Halloween costume struggle.
Sorry.. off topic rambles.. I'll be done now.. lol

Missy finally posted on IG for Finn's birthday. Its the picture of her in the hospital after he was born, where you can't see his face, when they were teasing the birth vlog and weren't showing his face yet. So basically, she's the center of the picture, not Finn.

I was referring more to the conversation as a whole. I didn't say your viewpoint was "invalid", either, or that anyone's was, just for the record. Yes, everyone's allowed to have their opinions. Sometimes the opinions and discussions lean towards outright searching for a reason to dislike B&M, and finding taking issues with things that are minor problems or matters of personal preference. The tone of the thread has shifted and the discussions seem much less grounded in reality than they used to. You may not agree, and that's fine, but I do so I was adding my own thoughts. I wasn't invalidating anyone's opinion, I was questioning what I see as general reaching.lmmomSD wrote:Maybe I worded things badly, or maybe you're not even referring to what I said.
