I think Katie looked the best in the year or so before she got pregnant with Gaines. She wasn't as skinny as her Wedding days...but she was still thin and looked great. I still think she looks good now, she is fortunate to carry her weight well.

Now Cullen did have that bad hair, but I think it was to cover his "horns" as he called them. (OG viewers will remember that) He had them removed in one of the early vlogs and then I guess kept the hair till he decided to change it up.

You make a good point about the horns, i had forgotten about that. It wasn't very long after he got them removed that he cut his hair. Makes a lot of sense.

I feel like, somehow, I always manage to bring E+J onto this board, so I'm sorry if it annoys anyone/to those of you who don't watch them...lol. But I couldn't help but be reminded of Calvin with all this talk about Brooks.

Personally, Brooks' whininess doesn't really bother me, but more makes me feel like, "Oh, poor little guy. I really wish he would cheer up." Lol. Now, Calvin, on the other hand, was a completely different story and honestly I think Brooks is more whiny than Calvin was as a baby/toddler. Can anyone else relate? I can't quite put my finger on the reason why without being biased or superficial... haha

I had the same thought but didn't want to bring it up Image. I'm not sure what he difference is, but I really do think that many of us were instinctually picking up on something being different with Calvin and it became distracting because we were helpless to do anything. With Brooks I don't think there is anything wrong other than him just being a high maintenance kid. I have one of those, and it makes it less enjoyable for me to watch (because I'm just so tired of it) but it doesn't inspire the same uncomfortable feeling I would get when Cal was young.

I had a particularly whiny baby, so i'm with you that it doesn't really bother me, and i feel bad for K&C bc i know how frustrating it can be. How much older is calvin than Brooks? Quite a bit right? I think my issue with Calvin (other than the child just being so off putting, i have no idea why but that kid is just miserable) is that he is well beyond the point that he should have at least a few words that he could use to express himself other than the screeching and pointing. Even if the child had a legit problem that mads him slower in speech development, E&J could at least step in and TRY to teach him some words or hell even some sign language, to help him communicate better. They just give him whatever he screeches for and they think it's some endearing quality or something. I think the difference is in the parenting regarding the whining and screeching. At least C&K try to teach Brooks new words (that he seems to pick up on pretty well) and sign language so that he doesn't get as frustrated trying to express himself. They also tend to not make a big deal out of his fussiness and ignore it so some extent, which in turn will teach him that it wont get him what he wants. E&J just give into Cal's screeches and reward him for it. I expect a fair amount of whining from a just turned 1 year old.. not from an almost 3 (????) year old.

I can't put my finger on the reason either but I feel the same way. I actually don't watch E&J but every time I tried to get into them (probably 4 or 5 times) I stopped, partly because Calvin's whining and screeching annoyed me so much. Brooks' crying and whining just makes me feel sad for him, like you said, and at times I find it almost cute/funny. Calvin just got on my nerves.

I loved this vlog today, even though he did mention the lack of livestream and compared it to sick day. I get it, we need personal days but he should have handled it better.

That Peeping Tom was hilarious and so realistic!!

Also, I think viewers send them things so they can get recognition for their Etsy business and bring in more business.

Cute crafts!

That live stream excuse was lame.
Yes, everyone deserves "sick" days. But you don't say "we will be live soon" and then "nah, not feeling it". They handle everything so poorly.

He had Pilar Cysts on his head...my husband gets them. Most of the time they need to be surgically removed. He is very self conscious of them and I’m sure Cullen was as well.

If he would have just said that from the get go, i feel like it would have been much better received. We do need personal days, and honestly, i would rather see them just take monday as a day off (sunday.. whatever, you get me) than to feel pressure to throw something interesting together for a livestream.

The peeping tom was so funny!!!!!!

I was going to bring up that etsy shop stuff! it was SO CUTE!!!!! What a genius idea! I agree with the recognition. C&K have always been really good at shouting out etsy stores and the like. I'm sure it drums up business with their shops and is worth whatever they send to C&K.

I'm glad they are doing an adults only Halloween party this year. I think it will be good for them to not have to worry about entertaining kids at this party.

Maybe it's just not as crazy up here than in the south, but I just don't get doing all the Pinterest crap for every single holiday/event. It seemed like Katie was feeling pressure to make whatever she sent to school look perfect and Pinterest worthy. These are ONE YEAR OLDS. If she enjoyed doing it, and planned ahead, then sure, knock your socks off. But I think she posted on Instagram this morning that she got like 4 hours of sleep after staying up getting ready for the Halloween party at MDO. So not worth it. My one year old wouldn't have been given those candy bars anyway. Glad she at least changed it to juice boxes and fruit cups.

idk if it's just a southern thing or not but i felt that same pressure when my kids were little like that. There were times that i have stayed up all night making things just like that for my kid's class knowing damn well that the kids aren't going to care either way. I quickly realized that i'm just not that mom and if you didn't think my little treat bag full of goodies is cute enough then screw you. I think the pressure is coming more from other parents than the kids. We have a parent who does some of the most extra things for holidays.. for Dr Suess' birthday she spent 3 weeks making pipe cleaner Cat in the Hat hat pencil toppers for EVERY KID IN THE SCHOOL.. we are talking 300 +/- kids. We have parents that donate 4 day 3 night trips to Disney for the silent auction for the Fall King & Queen fundraiser. Once i came to terms with the fact that im not EVER going to live up to those expectations, i really felt so much better. And i'm actually someone that really enjoys making craft projects and pintresty things. We put too much pressure on ourselves to be THAT MOM that we feel like we fail when another mom "out moms us". Thank god i got over myself by the time my younger kid got in school. LOL Bc honestly, at the end of the day, a plain juice box and a decorated juice box still get the same job done. (the juice boxes were cute and seemed simple and quick. katie stressing out about the treats for brooks' class stressed me out though...)

Yessss, I forgot to mention this in my last post. I think they do need adult time with their friends without catering to kids sometimes and this seems perfect!

As for the Pinterest, I seriously doubt it's only a southern thing... it's ALL over. It's been very beneficial for everything (recipes, home decor, crafts, parties, hair/glamour, fashion, etc). I definitely used Pinterest for my daughter's first birthday and no shame in my game. I also used it help plan my wedding. But yes, last minute things like that to get barely any sleep over is dumb especially for little kids that young that can't grasp the holiday yet. They've never been good planners so whatevs, but Pinterest is a great resource tool.

Oh don’t get me wrong. I love Pinterest. So many good ideas. But it just seemed like she wasn’t doing it for fun and felt pressured to do something creative when she could have just bought some cheese sticks and juice boxes and made sure to plan ahead next time.

WHY is everything last minute with them? They are two work at home parents, who clearly have no issue with slacking on the work part of working at home. Why do you need to go to walmart at midnight? You have allllll day, multiple days, to be prepared. None of this was a surprise, they knew what they were responsible for bringing. And why did Katie make the snack AND run to walmart? Cullen couldn't go while Katie made the snack?

This drives me crazy, too. And from the sounds of it, they just decided to make the Halloween party adults only. So all their friends need to come up with babysitters within a week. Bad planning, and I hope people aren’t going to have to miss out because they didn’t give them time to find childcare.

I thought the midnight run to walmart was bc she forgot to get the pink spray for Gaines' hair and when she was there she thought about the juice box craft. I thought the part where she was making the treats was before the walmart run. Those bat treat bags were made from stuff she just had laying around the house.
Yes, it was still last minute and she should have planned ahead, i totally agree. I think she had zero plan on making something cutesy until last minute.

Yeah, the Walmart run was because of the hair color for Gaines. Then she decided to get juice boxes while she was out.
