One of the goals is getting married, but that isn't the primary goal. We are taught to seek an education, and become self reliant. My mom finished her masters at Harvard and then she got married. Please stop generalizing, and think that all mormons is like that moron ruby. She is a gold digger. Maybe some mormons are like her, but not because they are mormons.callie73 wrote:Actually girls learn from an early age that a temple marriage is one of the most important things they can strive for. they are taught that marriage is pretty much their lot in life, this is taught in primary as well as in young women's. The church doesn't force anyone to be happy. The church also doesn't force anyone to get married. Her family was the one forcing her. As I said before my mom got married at 35. Please stop generalizing. They are forcing themselves to be happy in front of the camera. Can you stop spreading rumors about things you aren't 100% sure. Our religion is certainly not bogus, and I would like you to stop criticizing the church. Thank youewokfan11 wrote:Their discussion of the their engagement/marriage was really depressing. Seems like they are together for convenience and because Mormons seem forced to get married young - like she settled for Kevin because she didn't want to be a 19-year-old Old Maid (and have to stay in school and LEARN things) and HE said yes.
I hope she's not teaching her daughters that's all life is about. Find a man, get married at 18 and start popping out babies!!??
Yes, their religion has "saved" their marriage, but their marriage and their religion seem sort of bogus! They just don't seem to be honest with themselves and their church forces them to "be happy" no matter what because they are together for eternity.
I do wonder if Kevin has cheated. He's on long trips with SMART young female students/professionals a lot. I wouldn't be shocked if he found them more interesting than dumb as rocks Ruby.

My brother used to be that way too. Went to CalTech. Freaking brilliant. Common sense? Nope. But his late wife whipped him into shape.Kaylor1 wrote:Totally see that!!!pleasecleanyourhouse wrote:I think he is academic/book smart, but not really life smart - hope you understand what I'm trying to sayseriously7 wrote: Looks can be deceiving. My brother is the smartest person I know. Never had to study for anything and has a masters degree in math. He's a teacher now but when it comes to relationships......big ole dummy!!!

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
Did anyone see the vlog where Shari was teaching Abby how to put on make-up and find it weird that Shari was teaching Abby instead of Ruby? Or that Ruby wasn't involved at all? Abby didn't even seem that interested in wearing it. She didn't know what half of it even was. Why have such a young girl wear make-up if she's not that interested?
Also, Shari made a big to-do about saying how Aunt Linda loves Christmas and gets so excited about it, but despite all the big purchases the Franke family made this year, all they could manage to get for Aunt Linda was one of the spare sausages from the fridge and a jar of m&ms. Really? Way to show how little Aunt Linda means to all of you.

I agree about the spelling. As I get older (and I'm younger than Ruby) I'll forget how to spell super simple words.charmed596 wrote:The sheets thing isn’t that weird to me I’m always forgetting how to spell things and giggling about it with my family.
Chad and Shari have the oddest boundaries but they’ve been molded that way. I’m surprised no one ships them with other YouTube kids like the Shaytards.
I get why they have the delay but couldn’t they post holiday videos on time or at least the next day? Where is their common sense honestly. Do stores advertise Christmas in January??? Vlogging is the same concept: advertisement

They do not treat Linda nicely at all, they treat her like a 2nd class citizen. it's heartbreaking. Linda is Ruby's aunt. and she deserves respect, disability or not she's still her aunt.

Seeing some of the weird-a$$ crap Ruby and the Griffin clan in general gift, I think Aunt Linda came out winning with sausage & M&Ms.puzzledbyit28 wrote:Did anyone see the vlog where Shari was teaching Abby how to put on make-up and find it weird that Shari was teaching Abby instead of Ruby? She was, and probably always has been treated as an afterthought. The demeaning way she is generally treated by the adults and example said behavior teaches the kids is infuriating.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
I don't find the make up thing weird at all to be honest. I think it's pretty typical for an older sister to teach younger sister about makeup, even if neither of them really know what they're doing. In both of their eyes Ruby's makeup style is probably "old".puzzledbyit28 wrote:Did anyone see the vlog where Shari was teaching Abby how to put on make-up and find it weird that Shari was teaching Abby instead of Ruby? I have a family member with mental disorder (or disability, however you want to call it) and their brain just doesn't work the same as ours. So hoestly, a jar of M&M's could be all that she wanted, given she was so happy when she unpacked it.
I do agree that they could have been more thoughtfull and they usually don't treat her right, but on the other hand I do realise that Linda just "works" differently and she is actually happy with the crap she gets from them.

I've definitely seen Bonnie and Ellie make fun of Linda when they probably didn't realize they were on camera - especially in the old Griffith family videos. Disgusting!callie73 wrote:They do not treat Linda nicely at all, they treat her like a 2nd class citizen. it's heartbreaking. How old are you? And your Mormon mom was a virgin until 35??!!!?? I have LDS relatives and dated a Mormon. I think I have some actual insight on the religion.Danielle_2013 wrote:The church doesn't force anyone to be happy. The church also doesn't force anyone to get married. Uh, yeah. All religions/churches are up for criticism. Yours isn't exempt from that just because you'd like it to be. This site doesn't cater to feelings.Danielle_2013 wrote:The church doesn't force anyone to be happy. The church also doesn't force anyone to get married. Her family was the one forcing her. I wonder if Aunt Linda’s caregivers will control when and how much she will eat of the Sausage and M&Ms.
Also they acted as if they weren’t going to give anything to her. I thought that was a little strange. I just hope she does receive something from family.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
they admitted that last year they didn't give anything to her. so my guess they did not plan on giving anything to her as usual, because I have never seen them be kind to her. I think they only did it for the camera. even Chad and Jennifer was laughing at her when she opened it. wonder if they treat her with respect or if they feel they are stuck with her on holidays.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
Julie lost a tooth with braces on while on vacation.
I grew up in the 80's/90's and I always thought this was the very reason why it was recommended that kids get them after age 12. She's too young. Hope her teeth are being cared for properly, but knowing Ruby, she'll find out that Julie wasn't brushing and flossing well enough years done the road when it's too late because she was too busy vlogging.
Why wouldn't the orthodontist have prepared them for something like this? Glad they were able to get it out.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
Phase 1 braces (done around Julie's age) are actually super common and recommended for lots of kids. Losing a tooth isn't a problem other than getting it off the bracket of course. She'll get them off and get them on again when she's older, probably around 12-13. Julie has some crooked teeth but more importantly, a bite problem, and braces at her current age are usually the best time to fix it (as long as she doesn't have an oral fixation like finger sucking). I think they made a good decision getting her braces when they did. I believe Abby has been seen by the orthodontist and if I remember correctly her issues weren't so much the bite like Julie's is, so she didn't need them as young. It just depends on the mouth, but Julie definitely isn't too young. Though I agree Ruby needs to make sure she's brushing and flossing properly.seriously7 wrote:Julie lost a tooth with braces on while on vacation.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
I should mention I only know this because I studied orthodontics briefly before deciding I didn't want to pursue it as a career. Not just pulling all of this out of my ass lol. Getting braces early on can be a life saver for teens/young adults!

Ruby touching her nose cold sore over and over...and over, in the car. Have any of the other family vloggers sharing that house have outbreaks yet? Yick.
