8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
Oh god this family. First off, I like Kevin. He seems pretty down to earth and respects his wife (well as much as a Mormon can).
But Ruby. She’s by far the most old fashioned out of her sisters. Maybe because she’s been a mom the longest or that’s just how she is. She is Mormon to the max. The sleepover rule is ridiculous. Mostly everything she does just rubs me the wrong way.
Can we also mention how isolated these kids seem to be? Thanks to Ruby i’m sure.

No one is going to say anything about her grocery haul, with the massive amount of Crisco and oil? I bake a lot, but I don't use nowhere near that amount of Crisco in a year, maybe 2 or 3 cans. I think she had about 12. 6 or 7 months from now what Crisco is left is going to start tasting funny.

I'm not anti sleep over its more of a case by case situation. You have to remember every family parents different. My daughter stayed the night at our neighbors and she saw a dildo on the oldest sisters bed!! Another house let my kids watch movies rated R. And we also had an incident that an older brother was physically fighting his dad in anger. All these families we had known for years and thought we could trust them. But now I say no to most sleep overs. Play dates are fine but its too much of a risk for longer than a few hours. I don't like hosting sleep over because I run a daycare and my house has tons of children all day long, the night is my only break. Maybe selfish but I need that time to recharge in order to be a better mom to my children.

It definitely seemed overkill to me. Also why does every second vlog with all these youtubers have to be about their children's potential boyfriends/girlfriends? Also, overkill.crowmtmom78 wrote:No one is going to say anything about her grocery haul, with the massive amount of Crisco and oil? I’ll never understand why parents with so many kids think they can travel. 6 kids is a crazy amount to leave with anyone to watch. Even if the kids are a bit older but still. It’s selfish. And Thailand isn’t close at all. Are they there for Kevin’s job at least? If it’s a mini vacation, shame on them. Weren’t they just in Disney not too long ago?calliepaige84 wrote:So Ruby and Kevin are in Thailand right now...

I'm not a mom, but looking back at my own childhood, the stuff I saw and did are all great memories and seeing a dildo isn't going to ruin a child neither is seeing one R rated movie before they are of the age, my friends and I found a used condom on the school playground when we were ten and it was hilarious and we all learned something new lolKaylor1 wrote:I'm not anti sleep over its more of a case by case situation. I honestly believe that is what makes a great childhood, great stories, and great memories. My friends and I did sleepovers all the time and got into crazy shenanigans and we were all very good kids. I haven't watched the vlog yet so i'm not sure what child she isn't allowing for sleepovers but even as young as 8 when I slept over at a friend's house we barely even saw the parents (they got on with their night just as they usually would) we would make ourselves snacks and lunches, did everything ourselves, I don't understand how it would be exhausting for the parents.

I honestly don't think sleepovers will make or break someone's childhood. Their sleepover rule isn't as strange as people are making it out to be. I respect their decision.

A dildo is nothing really, it's just something she saw. There is worst things she could see. I went to sleepovers as a kid but was not abused there. I was however abused by a neighbor boy, I never went to his house, it happened in plain sight in the neighborhood. you can either be scared to death something could happen that may never happen and never let your kid have a normal childhood or just let the child live life and deal with things as they come, that's what I do with mine.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
I probably would have died of boredom without sleepovers when I was a kid lol, I did grow up before internet and social media so maybe things have changed but nothing was more fun than them in the 80's.
And that was a crazy amount of crisco and oil!
I feel soo bad for Nolly, she seems to crouch down when she is near Ruby, does anyone else notice this?

Is it a normal thing for Americans to use so much Crisco, my parents are European and we always bake with butter.

Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
I get that every parent needs to decide what's best for their children, but it makes me sad that so many fun things have seemed to be taken away from childhood. Playing outside with friends, running around in a pack all day without cell phones or adults, sleepovers, etc. I guess it's a different world. I don't think it's that much scarier than when I was growing up, but people seem to believe it is. I get wanting to protect your child from perverts. But a hard and fast "no sleepovers" rule won't necessarily do that. They're more likely to get molested by someone close to them that you and they trust. Statistically, anyway.
How can children learn Independence if they're never given the chance to be independent? But then again, we know the Griffiths don't really want independent adults. Grandma Griff wants them all to follow her like good little ducklings.

i see she wants to save money,great... but looking at their groceries is scary. all she buys is processed chemical foods, 1 minutes noodles, cheap hot chocolate, vegetable oil, lards, bread, and extremely processed snack and treat which they eat multiple times a day. nothing clean and organic what so ever. she would save money spending more money on fresh nutritious meals. saving money on food, will make you spend more at the doctors and dentist, then shari wouldn't have acne, and they wouldn't be getting weak immunes all the time.

I have to completely disagree with this. People shouldn't stop living just because they have kids. If they find people who will willingly watch the kids, then good for them for traveling and having adventures on their own. Having fun doesn't need to stop when you become a parent.nsf5555 wrote: I’ll never understand why parents with so many kids think they can travel. 6 kids is a crazy amount to leave with anyone to watch. I agree, it's also a great way to keep their relationship strong. They might be divorced by now if they didn't do date nights and trips together. Thailand is a bit extreme, but that's just the youtube money paying for that. Even something local would have been fine. We also know it's the Grandma and Grandpa who will watch the kids, pretty normal.
Re: 8 Puffy Passengers - Part #7
I wonder if the no sleepover rule is because Ruby doesn’t want the kids friends and their families to find out certain things. If that makes sense. Not saying there is anything super sinister going on the Griffiths house, but they don’t seem to let many people that aren’t family get close. Maybe they’re hiding something.
I’m probably wrong but that’s the first thing I thought of. Sleepovers were a huge part of my childhood but I guess it’s not for everyone. I had lots of friends growing up, but a few that I was super close with and my parents knew their parents well. We did sleepovers most weekends. The only sleepover rules I really had were no sleepovers on school nights, and I couldn’t do 2 sleepovers in a row on the weekend or during summer until I was older. My parents thought I got too cranky if I had 2 in a row lol.
Do the kids really have super close friends? I’m sure they have friends and I know they likely aren’t in the vlogs or something, but do any of them have super close best friends? When I was a kid, it would have been impossible for my parents to not get my best friend in vlogs because we spent so much time together. Maybe they just don’t have friends close enough to have sleepovers with.

I get what you're saying, but it really bothers me when people make it seem like Ruby literally never buys fruits and veggies. They're in EVERY SINGLE haul she does including this last one. The kids do eat fresh produce on a regular basis. Organic is a little unrealistic, even if they can afford it now, Ruby could never bring herself to go that far.
As far as saving money in the long run by eating better, i'm not so sure about that.
The kids do not have mouths full of cavities, the acne is heredity (Ruby and Kevin mentioned this, plus she's had it since before the makeup), and their immune systems are most likely due to poor hygiene and oversharing.

Right?? Geez, buy some lentils or beans if you want to buy in bulk. They're super cheap, nutritious and easy to prepare in large amounts!PoppyFlower1 wrote:i see she wants to save money,great... but looking at their groceries is scary. all she buys is processed chemical foods, 1 minutes noodles, cheap hot chocolate, vegetable oil, lards, bread, and extremely processed snack and treat which they eat multiple times a day. nothing clean and organic what so ever. she would save money spending more money on fresh nutritious meals. saving money on food, will make you spend more at the doctors and dentist, then shari wouldn't have acne, and they wouldn't be getting weak immunes all the time.
