Their vlogs about her melanoma diagnosis and recent surgery popped up on my recommended videos recently. I really felt for Kelly when she was talking about her friend's breast cancer diagnosis. But it kind of makes me side-eye them when they don't address tanning or sun exposure. Kelly could be a cautionary tale to young people out there to always use sunscreen, avoid tanning beds, etc. It's odd to me that she's not talking about that. Her and Katie both seem to just say that it runs in their family and completely sidestep the sunscreen issue.

I felt for Kelley too. She seems like a sweet person. Jay did address the effects of too much sun exposure. I can't remember verbatim what he said or which vlog it is in though. Kelley also mentioned the need for sunscreen the other day also - making sure whenever she and her family were outside that they would be wearing sunscreen. I think this last episode with melanoma was a real wake-up call for her and she will definitely take better precautions in the future. I'm glad the surgery went well for her and they were able to get it all. She is lucky. I think she knows it though.

I can see Jay not wanting to be vloggers at all. He's an attorney with a reputation to uphold. If his clients/colleagues see him acting like a fool - like Cullen does - on YT, then it probably isn't good for his business. Plus, Kelley doesn't NEED to vlog for the income, so I'm guessing he doesn't see the point of it. Honestly, I don't see why she vlogs either. She just seems bored.

He's a DUI attorney. His clients mostly care that he gets them off.

He's done plenty of goofy stunts with Cullen. But maybe you're right. It's possible that one of his partners said something, or another colleague. Because he used to be plenty present in the vlogs, and like I said, did stunts with Cullen and allowed himself to be filmed obviously buzzed.

I don’t watch them but the fact that he’s a DUI attorney pisses me off. Maybe it’s because my best friend’s mom was killed by a drunk driver less than a year ago and my outlook is skewed, but I don’t think you should be able to fight a DUI. In today’s day and age (especially with things like Uber and Lyft) there’s absolutely no excuse for driving drunk. None! It’s so stupid and so avoidable to drive drunk that if you do, I think you fully deserve the consequences.

Katie is talking to the class about YouTube, and she starts telling the kids "don't tell anyone where you live or go to school," and while she is saying that, Kelley is zooming in on a girl wearing a t-shirt with the name of the school in big letters. Is she that stupid?

I hadn't watched a whole lot of JK Today vlogs, but wow, Emma is 7? She talks baby talk still. But I guess that's been mentioned here. Did someone say she's in speech therapy?
Doesn't help that Kelly speaks in baby talk to her as well. That whole "bweakfast in bed" bit was cringey. I did feel bad about her dream though. Getting flushed down the toilet by clowns is pretty horrible.

Anyone else find it odd that Kelley and Jay haven't appeared together in their vlogs in well over a week? And Jay hasn't appeared in one at all (other than hearing his voice in the background coming home one night) in about a week.

I don't watch every vlog but you're right he seems to be appearing a lot less in the vlogs since around the time of the trouble with C&K. Jay is quite a successful guy and obviously has some intelligence so if anyone within that entire family is going to see the pitfalls of vlogging and put a stop to it I think it will be him. This thing with C&K has probably been a wake up call for him and he might be seeing that its not just a harmless hobby to keep Kelley occupied. I also agree that it may be causing him problems ar work. JK don't need the money so there is absolutely no reason for them to continue down this road.

I don't like how nothing seems to excite her. She always looks angry. I can't knock her speech because I know they have her in therapy.

That was my thought too, but is that a good enough reason to leave school? I don't remember anyone doing that when I was her age. She's going to have cramps every month for 40-ish years and you don't just get to stay home in the real world. I think Kelley is a bit too easy on her kids. In fact, it seems like she LIKES them to stay home with her.

I think cramps are a very good reason to skip school. They can be horrible. I’ve missed many days of work because of cramps. I was well into my 20s before I figured out tampons were causing me to have horrible cramps. I switched to the cup and my life changed.

I do think it's a good enough reason to stay home from school, especially since she likely hasn't had a period for very long. She's probably still learning to cope. I would still leave school due to cramps in my senior year and I had had my period for 8 years at that point. And you're right, she's not going to just get to stay home *every* time she has cramps when she starts a job, but that's why I say take advantage of it now when you can. Madelyne doesn't seem like the type to neglect her education so I think she'll be fine.

Anyway it was just speculation on my part. Maybe she really did have an upset stomach and not cramps.
