Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
"On occassion, filming requires a bit of....overeaction....for drama's sake"
I'm glad she at least admits it, BUT I hate how she refers to the vlogs as "filming". This is not a movie, or a film. This is vlogging. You are supposed to be real and show reality, not overeacting and creating drama on purpose. These are supposed to show real people, NOT acting. And that's all she admitted to, was that we are indeed correct in saying her family are acting, and being prompted and scripted into what Ruby (as the director) wants them to say and do.
P.S. I would NEVER allow a snake or mice into my home. And I don't think she would either if it wasn't "content" for the vlog. I bet that was the kid's selling point. "Mom, just imagine all the vlogs we can do about the snake". "Feeding the snake" "The snake got out!" "The mice got out!" etc. etc. I'm sure that was the selling point for Ruby. I can only roll my eyes in anticipation of all the "drama" and "overeaction" we are going to see in the near future.
I miss the "old Ruby" that was actually real and stay at home Mom who just happened to vlog and show her real life (cooking, cleaning, etc) no acting, no scripting, no prompting, no fakeness.

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
The tables are turning on them as well I feel! A lot of people in the comments are saying how disappointed they are that they have another pet they haven’t researched and is in too small an enclosure. I realise she was shocked but Abby didn’t seem overly bothered about the snake I would have thought she would be super excited considering they say it’s all she’s asked for apart from a harp.

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
My god this is going to be an absolute disaster. The last thing they need is a snake, much less a snake that's going to reach 5-6 feet. They will never get an enclosure that will be even close to being large enough. This is getting out of hand. I have no doubt Ruby would've never done this if it weren't for vlogging, but then again I believe she'd be a very different person in general if they didn't do youtube.
On a lighter note, I'm so happy for Julie that she made it on the swim team. I hope it's something she enjoys and sticks with.

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
Does anyone else get the impression that Abby doesn't particularly like being the center of attention when Ruby has the camera out? I vaguely get the sense that she's more self-conscious than the other kids when the camera is on her. Like the way she was glancing at the camera when Ruby told her she didn't get registered for that camp the other day, and it looked like she was trying not to show how disappointed she really was (for a second it looked like she might cry).
As an aside, I don't remember what vlog it was, but there is an older one where Ruby mentioned that Abby is more introverted than all the other kids. I get a similar vibe from Julie, who probably has the most emotional/sensitive personality, but learned not to show it as much around the camera. Julie has given the same glances at the camera during a couple of 'serious/sad' moments before as well. Like a glance that says, 'the camera is making me uncomfortable right now'.

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
The video where she guesses chads favorite things and shows off her horrible spelling...she looks incredibly uncomfortable through the entire video. I don’t think all the kids like being on camera as much as Ruby thinks. It seems like she respects them to a degree as she has mentioned them not anting to film things but then she just goes on and talks about it too. If the kid doesn’t want to be in a shot talking about a certain subject, they probably don’t want their mom to still be blabbing on about it either. I couldn’t imagine having every personal choice or experience be a potential plot point for my director Mom to script, film, and edit into some sort of clickbait scene.ctx2002 wrote:Does anyone else get the impression that Abby doesn't particularly like being the center of attention when Ruby has the camera out? This is no longer the family that I started watching two year ago. Who are these people?
Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
I always thought Ruby was the dorkiest of the sisters and very religious...now they are a,completely different family...i liked, them better before they got big.

If she were smart, she would collaborate with a pet YouTuber as their audience probably differs. She could get the help her animals need and set a good example for her viewers
Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
So how long until Ruby 'forgets' to take Julie to swim or 'forgets' to wash her uniform before a meet? She will find some way to screw this up.

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
Omg they need to do more research on the snake! I own multiple snakes and have never and will never feed them live food. The mice can injure your snake or kill it. Almost any snake will eat frozen thawed easily. There is no need for them to keep multiple mice in the kids room. Just go to the pet store and buy a couple mice once a week and feed them. No need for all that mess. Plus the mice will breed out of control and probably escape. The king snake is a very good starter snake for a child but they don’t seem to have researched its care at all.

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
Also wanted to add but I cannot edit, the snakes tank is too small, the mouse cage is WAY too small as well, especially for 4 mice they will probably chew out of it and escape. I can’t blame it 100% on them, they seemed to have gotten all their info from that pet shop who seems to be very uneducated.

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
Did I misinterpret or did Ruby tell Abby to swap her dress with Julie when Abby said she didn’t like it. Why does Julie have to swap just because Abby doesn’t like it? What if Julie doesn’t like it either? I find it weird how she buys clothes for Abby and Julie without checking they like them first. They are old enough to have opinions and at their age I went shopping with my mum to pick out clothes I would want to wear

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
I'm starting to like Julie a lot more than I used to. I think being 'the oldest' of the youngest kids has really brought out her personality. She is definitely a natural leader and having Shari as such a bossy older sibling seems to have affected her confidence a bit. I was really glad she went for swim team ... but in that video they're walking in to try out and Ruby says 'Julie is a fine swimmer...for fifteen yards' and then laughs.. and Julie was right behind her. I feel like that's such a blow to her confidence to hear that from her mom. I'm glad she made it, I just hope Ruby doesn't screw this up since swim team meetings are always very early.
On a side note, how often is Shari missing school? She's been on a lot of trips recently and we know their spring break was during the Rushmore trip yet she went to San Diego for a week and now Seattle? Seems like a lot for a freshman in high school, I remember being terrified of missing a whole day of high school (make up homework, make up classes, missing deadlines). Maybe things have changed? Still seems strange to me.

Re: 8 Prompted Passengers | Part 8
I'm amazed at how short their family is! I thought Kevin was a normal height and Ruby was willowy. Poor Shari, it must be hard to get clothes to fit at that height.
Does Ruby EVER wear her invisalign? What a waste of money, she must have been told that you need to wear them like 23 hours a day? And her teeth were fine anyway. Isn't it embarrassing knowing her ortho must be watching? Esp since she probably got a discount.
I think Abby may have some learning difficulties and it's going to be more and more obvious the older she gets. Remember when Ruby said Abby hadn't done her homework all year? Willing to bet it was because she found it too hard and was embarrassed.
In recent videos she's said that she doesn't know what a convertible is or 'procrastination' or 'genre'. I love that she likes reading though. That actually points more towards her having problems though. Someone who reads that much should have much better spelling.
Chad eats ramen noodles every day for lunch...? Eww. And it's a worry that he hates school this much already.

She wears them frequently as you can hear she has a lisp when she’s talking on camera particularly in the morning. She might take them out just to talk to the camera and then put them back in?loulouinnz wrote:I'm amazed at how short their family is! I thought Kevin was a normal height and Ruby was willowy. I also agree that Abby may have a mental issue with spelling and grammar.

She wears them more recently but before she didn’t because she said when she went to the orthodontist he asked her how often she wore them and she said only at night from midnight to about 6 and he told her off because that wasn’t long enough.
I’m surprised at Julie getting on the swim team beaxise she hasn’t had what I would call a proper education for swimming a couple of lessons for a couple of summers doesn’t really cut it imo but glad for her to have the chance and maybe they can teach her a bit more. Ruby laughing at Julie not swimming well was ridiculous when it’s her fault!

Especially for someone who claims to want to go to NYU law school. You need to go to a good undergrad to do that. Maybe she figures she can slack off and still get into BYU because of her dad.lurkerthatposts wrote:I'm starting to like Julie a lot more than I used to. Did Ruby go to BYU (until she married Kevin)? Because she sure doesn't seem very bright.

Most colleges accept the children of employees. In fact, it is usually free. I wouldn't be surprised if all his children go to BYU.

I am sure of that. It is the perfect Mormon school, they can't go outside the bubble!ba1006 wrote:Most colleges accept the children of employees. In fact, it is usually free. I wouldn't be surprised if all his children go to BYU.

I feel sorry for Abby. She clearly doesn't have a lower IQ, she just needs a little more help. But no, Ruby wants them to do it all by themselves, no help but also no reminders to do their homework. Obviously when you're 11 you don't need that. But she needed it when she was in first grade. No no, Ruby was way to busy taking naps and eating sugar!
