I feel like that's such a blow to her confidence to hear that from her mom. I'm glad she made it, I just hope Ruby doesn't screw this up since swim team meetings are always very early.
On a side note, how often is Shari missing school? She's been on a lot of trips recently and we know their spring break was during the Rushmore trip yet she went to San Diego for a week and now Seattle? Seems like a lot for a freshman in high school, I remember being terrified of missing a whole day of high school (make up homework, make up classes, missing deadlines). Maybe things have changed? Still seems strange to me.
Especially for someone who claims to want to go to NYU law school. You need to go to a good undergrad to do that. Maybe she figures she can slack off and still get into BYU because of her dad.
Did Ruby go to BYU (until she married Kevin)? Because she sure doesn't seem very bright.

No, Kevin went to U of U for undergrad, and Ruby has some sort of associates degree from there, I think.

Didn't she just go there for a husband? I remember I think that she dropped out as soon as Kevin proposed to her

They went to Utah State where Ruby studied accounting, but she never mentioned graduating. She worked as a nursing assistant for some time. Shari's romanticization of big cities will probably blow over and she'll choose BYU. She has two law schools to choose from in Utah (BYU and U of U) and both have relatively cheap tuition.
I can't get over how Ruby keeps calling Abby the "perfect child." Way to make your other kids feel less-than.
I'm in the middle of watching the video for the swim team tryouts, and Ruby is being SO mean and critical of poor Julie... Like, "Have you ever tried out for something that you're not that great at?" - or, "She's supposed to be doing this one stroke, but she's doing something completely different."... UGH at least your daughter had the guts to do something. I wouldn't expect kids to know different strokes at that age anyway, let alone a girl who has had a few basic swim lessons. Ruby was exceptionally rude, and I would hate to look back on that video if I were Julie

I’m not even going to watch this even because that sounds unbearable...but how can she be so blind to the fact that Julie cannot swim because of her?! They just started lessons maybe 3 years ago?? And the lessons last like an hour a day for a single week in the summer. It’s amazing she can actually swim at all! I think swimming is a vital life skill and it’s completely Ruby’s fault that she’s not a strong swimmer. And why not be encouraging or get your daughter a year of private lessons first (we know they can afford it) to build up strength and learn strokes if you think she’s really that bad.

Yeah I think she'd turn her nose up at NY if she actually went there. Remember how she was surprised when they went to stay in an area where "they don't have driveways here?" Then again she might have matured by the time she leaves but yeah, can't see her being impressed by the characters you get in places outside of family friendly Utah

Ruby said she went to college to find a husband. She even scheduled classes around the engineering buildings because she wanted to find an engineer husband. She only took a few classes and dropped out as soon as she married Kevin which was a month after meeting him. Great example for your young female viewers not to mention your children.

Shari will have to go to a Mormon school bc she will not be able to handle the SWEARS in college if she can’t now. High has more of them but college is usually ruthless with them

I am sure of that. It is the perfect Mormon school, they can't go outside the bubble!

I'm sure Abby won't go to collage - she'll marry young and Ruby will do anything for it to happen. She considers Abby the pretty one and also the perfect child. For the rest of the kids: Shari, Chad and Julie will probably go to BYU, however Chad will drop out. Russel will probably follow in Chad's footsteps and if he doesn't learn to control his emotions he'll drop out even faster than Chad. As for Eve, I hope she goes, however I feel like Ruby and Kevin won't really care because she's the youngest one so her education will be pretty bad and she'll also marry young, just like her aunt Ellie.
From all the kids I feel like Shari and Julie have the biggest chances at succeeding.
I just think its crazy how Ruby is an example for women. Even though she is the exact representation of a woman who is super old fashion. She went to college to find a husband and wants her kids to marry early and have children seconds after that. I really hope Abby pulls through and shows that she more than that!
I watched! Greens not my fave but I still like how it turned out! They were more enjoyable to watch in that video than their own channel...like how I used to enjoy Ruby years ago. I thought it was funny when the host called the yellow wall color, “the offending color” like the entire rest of their house isn’t painted in it. The rest of their house has either this this old lady country vibe or a mix and match hodgepodge look and the bed room is completely different. It wouldn’t hurt for Ruby to have a decorator come in and help her out elsewhere.
I’m sorry, this is so nit picky but I really can’t stand this face she makes. Ellie does the same thing with her mouth and it’s like this smug fake wholesome housewife image that they try to portray

YES! That smug "I'm so much better than you" look just irritates TF out of me.
I’ve never seen anyone that claims to be so busy at doing nothing! These Griffiths girls would never be able to handle what most women do all day, everyday. I can’t tell you the last time I stayed in bed watching a movie or took a nap. Yeah, that smug face, Ruby, Ellie and Bonnie all have it.
