Southern California is expensive, and B&M can't afford to carry on the way they are indefinitely. Nope. I know legit millionaires that don't live lives as lavish and obnoxious as B&M because they save most of their income and give themselves a reasonable income so they can be assured that their lifestyle and investment growth is assured for the long term.
You mean the Shane Dawson who has a $2M house in Studio City??? Maybe some estimates are off, but a lot of them are not.

Where the Lannings live is WAAAAAAAAY far inland and WAAAAAAY far from where most people would want to live (it's like dried-up farm country out there)...and it's actually pretty cheap to live there. The Lannings are making a TON of $$$$ off their dumbed down kid channel. It's exactly the same thing that made Carl and Jinger a ton of money.
I didn't say they aren't making money, I said they aren't set for life.... which they aren't. It's basic math and financial planning. They still need to make sound financial choices and investments to keep what they have into the future. They have a lot of people on the payroll to support, and a house like the one they have (even if it's pod for), will cost a ton to maintain over the years. Their lifestyle will take a huge hit if they aren't saving millions to last the next 50 years. Even if the high SB is correct, and given just what we see them spend, their lifestyle is unsustainable.

Let's say YT does well for them for the next 10 years and they have somehow managed to save/invest $18 mill. If those investments are paying a yearly income of $100k (generous by most small businesses standards), then that won't be enough. They will need to start living off the retirement savings at age 40. Know how long that will last if they try to keep their current lifestyle, home, spending habits? Answer: Not long Let's say they have everything paid for and have managed to downgrade their expectations a bit. If they pay themselves a gross salary of $450 (and remember they will have to start paying more tax without a business to fall back on) then $450k a year will allow them to never work again. This cannot support their boys, themselves, aging parents, the Mcmansion, horses, housecleaners, travel, new vehicles, etc, but it is a reasonable and generous income they can prepare for and keep up with. This scenario is giving them a hell of a lot of credit for saving and spending conservatively. YT is not a windfall, and you need to save in order to turn the good fortune into a "set for life" scenario. B&M cannot possibly be doing this. It's a matter numbers, and it doesn't add up.

Yes Shane Dawson has a 2 million dollar home, but he is selective with what he spends, and is constantly reinventing himself. He doesn't have an image to maintain he wears the same basic clothing every day, and drives an older model used Jeep. He also makes about double what B&M do, and isn't dependent on the attention span of children. B&M are one more YT kids app scandal (another apocalypse) away from losing significant income. It's the app that is driving the views up because kids just click on the thumbnails.... It doesn't mean they are watching even a minute of the show, or are searching thm out. YT kids is the worst app for parental controls. I hate it for that reason.

This applies to all YTers. If they aren't saving the bulk of the income they are bringing in, then a return to general employment is in their future. Good luck with that given that most are lazy morons.

TL,DR: B&M can have been saving an average of a million a year and would still have to take an income dive when YT ends. They are making good money FOR NOW. Plus we all know they aren't saving near as much as they should be.... If at all.

Yes, but their house is massive (5000 sq ft) and on 5 acres in a private community.
If their house was actually in the LA area it would be more like $6M+...easily.
So? That doesn't somehow make it a smart purchase.

A simpler $500k home would have been a more reasonable and sustainable price point.

The home upgrades they chose were personal choices and not with future resale value in mind. Ala the pool. They will never get back the money they sunk into the house.

The area the house is located is isolated and has an older, white population. The property is 5 acres which means more upkeep and snakes. They do not use all 5 acres but will still have to maintain it. Not to mention, all it would take is one uncontrolled fire to destroy everything they own - "Tragedy strikes Bryan Again! While sitting on the toilet pt. 2!" He will have, of course, pre-recorded using footage from the homes security system, and then "fill us in when he is ready to talk about it" (mostly to hide the fact he has pre-recorded vlogs, even on the same day while just changing clothes for months now) but then post about how scary it was to wake up "like this" all over the internet until then.

Even $1,000 per month is too much income for the "dailybumps" 'content'

I would NEVER live in Murrieta, marry that freak -TWICE!, let him impregnante me - multiple times, let me borrow a crap house / studio to live in off of one of his cons. Have me botox my forehead with aborted fetus to look like a washed up porn star. Sorry. Not attractive, not an attractive lifestyle, and nothing would make me contribute to ruining my kids mental health or my own over obsessively posting stupid videos on youtube. The biggest copyright infringing company there is! Everything comes and goes. Just as arcade games become "baby's toys", the vlogger will be the new "sad joke". Bryan will link up with "new friends" that are better con men than even he realizes and take him for everything he is worth - soul included. By then Bryan and Missy will be alcoholics. Ollie will receive no attention from his parents and Finn will be on his way to breaking away and becoming a traveling rock climber.

When you sit back and think about this vlog thing and where it is today - you have to wonder how they let themselves get so deep into this.... Mostly how they got so morally skewed. Then I remember they were never the wholesome image Missy's mom tried so hard to get everyone to believe in (Mimi's PR team). All I see is a young version of the balloon boy family. Desperate, ugly, liars, who manipulate, OVER STRETCH their worth, and rely on hoaxing and mocking fans to "get them to the next level".

The moment when Missy realizes Bryan knowingly led them down the wrong path and damaged their family will be the day. This time she won't grab the gatorade, chips and video games and ignore the trouble when she feels it, instead she will eagerly join in because she has a new yoga class she's decided to start and a horse names Nacho she actually might love and wont want to lose. Back in the day we would call these people the whores of society. They are normally the lowest tier in society. Somehow that has been switched and they have managed to further damage what we use to call the "family unit" in America.

Didn't watch yesterday's vlog. The "abandoned" theme is getting old.

Finn wasn't even in this one. He's probably taking another nap. Smh.

You'd think that Missy would be pissed for having her slide through eggs. Last time I checked, they used those for breakfast, right? Nonetheless, it's a waste of food. Even if it was just one egg.

Same. No way this is a sustainable lifestyle on 2 million a year, if they are even making that. Not in California. The way they live they need to be kardashians lol.

What was the point of the video on her channel? Bryan telling us how wonderful she is? Missy explaining how busy Bryan always is? “We make videos every day” so we’re so busy all the time, he’s even working at their friends house.

What a waste of time. It was just a continuation of their other fake vlogs. They DO NOT film everyday and haven’t for awhile. The whole removal of the sensor, what???? She’s had the outfit for a year?? Explains the closet room full of clothes that never get worn.

Regarding their income. I would think that eventually YouTube will crack down on the payout these vloggers get from the app. That’s what will hurt the bumps. They can’t continue to live the life they are now, they just blow through so much money on needless things. Typical “new money”. If it cost the most, then it must be the best. They’ve also got too many people on their payroll that adds to the debt they’re creating.

Their property is not in a gated community, only their property is and it’s actually not a high end area.

I think that this whole change to a “family” channel is also a way to not show their everyday life. That will probably help drive away some of their adult viewers (who wants to watch a kiddie show?). They won’t be showing all the needless crap they buy anymore.

Had to laugh, Bryan excuse for his late vlog today was that he was out partying with friends last night and ate cereal later and got sick. Sure.

What? That was a one-time thing. Toddlers should know that they can only do certain behaviors while the camera is rolling and money is to be earned.

Maybe they just like showing how hard they spend just to send Mimi to stand in the return line like Lil tay.

I remember they got called out for having used items and then actually vlogged returning items they had bought. I want to say it was cheap sheets or something that you just don't return. It was like buying $2 underwear and wearing them for a week straight and then deciding you didn't want it or that you just wanted to wear a dress for one date or photo shoot. Just no class. There was speculation that the gifts that were sent to their PO Box by viewers were being exchanged or sold online. Did someone discover his ebay account?

As much as I dislike Missy, I think she did the right thing with disciplining Finn when he drew on the wall. They should of made it clear that drawing on the wall before was just a one time thing and that it’s a big No No
