Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
I for one wouldn't blame her a bit if she did things to sort out the hair issue - hats, scarves, wigs, medication etc. I can't imagine going bald that has to be really difficult. Even if I find her personality difficult at best most of the time.
Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
Is that Aunt Laura in the comments being so incredibly rude to the kindness and generosity of their viewers, by going on and on about the wastefulness of plastic?
Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
Omgosh!! That is so rude. She goes on to say “it’s not a criticism of Parsnips but of society in general”. A viewer was being generous and she says that about them! It’s not the time or place for her to go on her platform. I sure hope art or Janelle deletes that from his sister. I really hate how they open stuff. Sometimes it’s better than others but so many janelle seems indifferent and it seems they are teaching the kids to just expect stuff. They need to delete aunt laura’s comment, very disrespectful to their viewers. She needs to stop being such a know-it-all and butting in to things that aren’t her business.OldHag wrote:Is that Aunt Laura in the comments being so incredibly rude to the kindness and generosity of their viewers, by going on and on about the wastefulness of plastic?
Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
She was very rude, wasn't she? I think that aunt Laura is as odd as Art is. they must have a very strange upbringing. I have the idea that she and Janelle might not be too fond of each other.

Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
That whole family is just so weird. This goes beyond potential autism it's like they all think their shit doesn't stink and are shocked SHOCKED the entire world doesn't agree with them.
Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
Laura sells PLASTICS all the time on Etsy: Laura's Last Ditch Vintage Kitchenwares. She finds items in thrift shops for a dollar or three and resells them at really inflated prices. I'm sure she'd argue she's saving the planet by keeping things out of landfills. However, she could leave the plastics in the thrift shops where the customer would not have to pay as much...and they'd still be out of the landfills.
But she gets her markup and makes her living, as does the Hatchimals company.

Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
So true. But, I’m sure she thinks ‘HER way is just fine and it’s the ONLY way to life right’. So self righteous. She needs some humility big time.gibberish wrote:Laura sells PLASTICS all the time on Etsy: Laura's Last Ditch Vintage Kitchenwares. I think both aunt Laura and Janelle are extremely self-righteous. I suspect that they clash when the camera isn't on them.
They are the yard sale trail yet again and came home with lots of stuffed animals and other rubbish. Wasn't it only a couple of months ago they were insistent that they were getting RID of stuffed animals? For goodness sake ... I've never see a family so focused on accumulating rubbish! I thought the older kids' body language during that vlog was very telling. They obviously just didn't want to be there and were so totally over it all! Art even said that most of the kids chose to stay in the car instead of going to check out the sales. Doesn't that tell them something?

Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
All I can think of is how absolutely impossible it would be to get rid of bedbugs if they got them.
Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
Eww!! Bedbugs! I hadn't thought of that. I'll brt they don't wash them when they get them home either.
It was good to see the kids all participating in the race, even though Charity (yet again) couldn't run properly because she had to run with Grace at the back. They did all look so strange compared to the other runners though in their usual outfits. Everyone else seemed to be dressed appropriately, so they stood out like a sore thumb.

Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
It's sad Charity has had to practically become a teen mom because her parents have more children than they can care for.
Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
So true. I’m all for my kids helping out around the house and they do help with my very challenging toddler. Now that my oldest is almost 15, I ask him to watch the others once in a while. I don’t depend on him to change diapers and fix meals on a regular basis. Although he can do those things, he knows how. Anyways, there are YT’ers I like to watch who have a bunch of kids but their kids still do activities and aren’t expected to parent or run the house. There has to be balance. Charity just seems so...I don’t know. Not interested in much or excited ever. I noticed in the rummage vlog her and her mom both had on a dress/skirt with matching sandals. I’m glad they love and get along with their parents but it’s just so odd and limiting.DoodleBop2 wrote:It's sad Charity has had to practically become a teen mom because her parents have more children than they can care for.

Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
My oldest can and does help but I draw the line at what I consider parenting. People are shocked oldest hasn't ever changed a diaper but I've never felt like it was my oldest child's place to become a live-in nanny. So I'm more likely to ask to throw the laundry in the dryer, pick up the toys, fold the laundry, sweep. I find it odd when the oldest child seems to always have a baby on their hip.dahell wrote:So true. I’m all for my kids helping out around the house and they do help with my very challenging toddler. Charity seems depressed. I hope she finds a way out.

Hi, I am new
Did anyone else notice how Art and the kids got the free small ice cream in bowls, but then we saw Janelle with a huge cone like her mom's? I know she didn't run, but dang that was a huge cone compared to the others.

Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
I agree with you. I have a friend that kept saying “has he (my oldest) changed diapers her? He’ll have to know how if he’s ever a dad someday.” And, I get it. But, I personally never ask them or have them do it. When I’m gone for the night, my husband will have them change his diaper and sometimes put his pjs on him. Again, I’ve never asked them. It’s no big deal to me to do it myself and I just don’t expect that from them. Help with dishes and cleaning and yard work, for sure.DoodleBop2 wrote:My oldest can and does help but I draw the line at what I consider parenting. Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
Funny enough a friend of mine had another baby when her other kids were older and they all jokingly call their youngest sibling having colic birth control. As teens, they'd often refer to not wanting to have kids any time soon because of it. Now they're all in their 20s and are working, going to college etc not having kids. I fear Charity will think this is all life is and will go from taking care of her siblings to her own kids. The only hope is she actually does get to go to college and meets new people with new ideas.
It's odd how they push such a traditional view of womanhood on their children yet Janelle isn't a traditional mom if she was Art would be working and she'd be taking care of the kids during the day. I wonder if Charity ever questions that how her mom says one thing and does another.

Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
Sometimes I think my kids are going to feel that way too!! I wasn’t sure I wanted to be “done” after my 4th. Well, I love my 5th dearly. He’s a blessing and a joy BUUUUUT, he’s also extremely challenging. And has been since birth. It’s safe to say, I feel “done” now. In more ways than one. Re: Parsnips and Parsimony
I feel really sorry for Charity. I don't see any way out for her as she doesn't have the sort of personality to stand up for herself at all. It will never happen.
I did notice that about Janelle's ice cream. Hers was about 4 times the size of her kids' ones. I know that theirs were the free ones for runners, but if you were going to treat yourself to an ice cream, would you think you would buy the kids one as well as the tiny ones they got for running? That didn't seem at all fair especially for the older kids who I'm sure could easily have eaten a large one and they could have given their small buckets to the little girls. I'll bet Art didn't get a big one either.
