If I remember correctly she was planning on laboring naturally as long as she could tolerate but would eventually get an epidural. I know one of her goals was to be able to remain as present as possible since Maeve’s birth was an anxiety med induced haze. I really hope she gets that.
But she's kinda a control freak. And people like that, (like me, lol) have a hard time letting go and letting their bodies just take over. I was an ICU nurse, and my three best friends and I all had the exact same experience: we weren't progressing or dilating, despite Pit, until the epidural went in. Then we all went from 3cm-10 cm in 2-3 hours. So she may not progress until she gets the epidural...
Edit: didn't see the c section posts until after I wrote this!
I'm going with 6 pounds, 9 ounces, and also strawberry blonde hair.

Lol. I find this fascinating because it’s exactly what happened with me! 24 hrs of active back labour and no progression, then I had an epidural and my son was born within two hours and with only two pushes! It never occurred to me it was a control freak issue.... but I definitely am one
I’m honestly SO EXCITED and happy for them!!! While I don’t agree with everything they may do, they certainly have been through a lot and deserve this!
Welcome to the work Vera and Happy First Father’s Day John!!! [HEAVY BLACK HEART]️

I was the same way!! I was fighting my body instead of relaxing and letting it do its thing so I had a traumatic labor and she ended up getting stuck & they lost her heartbeat for a bit. I was about to have a emergency Csection unless I got her out the next contraction. With my second I got an epidural earlier, he was born in 2 pushes & recovery was night and day from my first.
I am so super happy for them! Vera is beautiful. After so much heartache, they final have their living child. They must be on cloud 9. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for Joan.
From the video John did in instastories of him holding Vera and then panning the camera to the window...it looks like Vera might have had a rough time during labor as her head (especially her forehead) is a little misshapen. No worries though, over the next week or so it will correct itself (NICU nurse here)

Yeah Joan said her head got stuck in her pelvis poor baby but no serious injuries!
Reminds me of Finley when he was born (dailybumps) but his was way more severe because Missy was dead set on having a vbac so she tried laboring/pushing for hours even though he was stuck.
I am absolutely giving them the benefit of the doubt in regards to how they handle and parent Vera. Grief is a very tricky thing to live with and I think Joan had such a hard time visualizing herself home with a live baby. I think now that Vera is here and she's perfect and she's healthy, she is going to help stitch up some of Joan's grief. And I think Joan is absolutely going to place Vera first. Like I said, Joan was coming from a place of never believing herself to parent a live child. She looked at everything regarding bringing this baby home cautiously to downright hypothetically.
Also I have a hard time watching their videos! The quality is awful!!! If they had a better camera they’d definitely have more views! And I’d enjoy them more! It just sucks that it looks like YouTube 10 years ago lol.
I definitely think they could be more successful too.
