When our eldest was 5 weeks old I got rotovirus (extreme gastro), my husband had to work as he had had two weeks of when our son was born.Sweetiebee wrote:Isn't it kinda good to be away from your baby a few hours? Maybe drop her off and let grandma bond for a bit? Get the baby used to others? Get back in touch with just yourself for a minute? I don't know. I don't think it's exactly healthy to be held and talked to and see the face of only 1 person 24/7.
So I went to stay with my mum for 3 days, she looked after our baby and only brought him to me to feed, and when I ran out of breast milk she organised donor breast milk (with my consent).
I was bordering on being admitted to hospital. I really couldn’t have done it without her support.
So my point is you never know when you will end up having to be reliant on someone else at the drop of a hat and as a mum if you aren’t prepared to trust anyone else or feel comfortable leaving your baby then you will be in an awful position if you have an emergency and can’t take your baby for whatever reason.
