Re: This Is How We Bingham
And the money they wasted on the "big decorations"-- I really don't believe she's going to be doing that long term. It's such conspicuous consumption. So was all the drooling over the Black Friday ads.
I have a kinda small tree to go with my small condo, and I decorate it with things my kids have made, and decorations that mean something, like from the duty stations where we lived. It's not "perfect looking", but it's a family tree. And I get some people want that Pinterest perfect tree, but I just can't get into that. Or the spending involved. One of my friends always has a perfect looking tree, but the decorations her kids have made have no place on it, and that makes me sad.

100% the same for me. Perfectly matched themed decorations have no place on my tree. Homemade and meaningful is what my tree is all about. Ever since my kids were born we started a tradition where we go to Hallmark every year after we visit Santa and let them pick out an ornament for the tree for the year. It's whatever interests them and it perfectly represents what stage of life my children are in at the time and I love it.lmmomSD wrote:And the money they wasted on the "big decorations"-- I really don't believe she's going to be doing that long term. Re: This Is How We Bingham
The only non handmade items on our tree are the tinsel and lights. My kids get a handmade ornament (usually with name and year) for the tree, they each have a box with their ornaments in it for when they move out of home or get married, etc. We have felt, wooden, acrylic, decorated bottle caps, decorated reindeers, hand painted baubles, etc. I spend months choosing each years new decorations for the kids. Im in New Zealand and this years are coming from Lativa via Etsy.JD386 wrote:100% the same for me. Perfectly matched themed decorations have no place on my tree. Re: This Is How We Bingham
We do something similar i try to have each new ornament represent something the child was really into that year. So it’s very personal and tells their story. My issue with the “formal” decorating of trees is there is no personality, no memories attached, no story. It’s just that way because it fits someone’s definition of pretty. Not my taste since I had kids. Now that said before I had kids my tree was very sterile and pretty, lol.Haulnarse wrote:The only non handmade items on our tree are the tinsel and lights. Re: This Is How We Bingham
When I was a Nanny one thing I was confused about is these people have all this money yet are the kids and parents decorating the tree while listening to carols. Nope. The service comes in and does up the decorations and none of the ornaments made at school will ever get on the tree with only white lights and gold and silver decorations. We have a small tree but we've collected meaningful decorations and I'm all for colored lights. It's so weird.

Wow. Actually watching them decorate this tree is ridiculous. They are shoving massive items into it. If one of their savage children does an epically rad move in front of it, the items will come crashing down.
Also, why did they buy Hazy that giant Minnie Mouse from Costco? I didn't see the boys get toys. Why is she so special?

I KNEW they were going to buy it for her! As soon as I saw her with it, I knew they would buy it. Of course they did. She saw it, she wanted it, she got it. Because she's the princess. Who cares that Christmas is in less than a month?JD386 wrote:Wow. Actually watching them decorate this tree is ridiculous. They are shoving massive items into it. The gluttony is only beginning.

How is seeing the gifts Christmas morning magical if you have gifts all the time and never have to wait for anything?

LOL! Exactly my thoughts! It is beyond me how many gifts those brats receive especially Hazyl! Christmas and birthdays for them is really no different to any other time of the year!

OH! For f***'s sake! Doesn't Branden ever draw breath between each sentence?
And I would be embarrassed if I were Branden showing on camera the socks he was wearing in today's vlog! Seriously grow up! You are 40 years old!

All their boys squeal like young girls! And I become so livid when people say that Brexsen is so sweet and quiet! He is not! He is a loud and obnoxious little sh** when he wants attention!

And I am sure someone told Hazyl to say "Jesus loves us" off camera for today's vlog! Of course the minions are saying how adorable it is that a 3 year old would know this!

"Teaching Our Kids About the True Meaning of Christmas"
The day after going to Target to buy them all their own trees, and buying Hazy a Minnie Mouse bigger than she is just because.

I like how the parents are "educating" their children on the true meaning of Christmas- nothing but a heavily commercialized sales holiday- by naturally buying them all trees and going out for a fancy dinner. Please, I hope no one takes offense to this comment, as I respect everyone's beliefs, but it's just frustrating to me personally to watch people who profess such a strong belief in Christ that seem to know nothing about him or even the origins of many of the customs of the holiday they are choosing to celebrate him with. They seem to get the materialism aspect of it perfectly well, though.
Again, please forgive me if I am out of line, no disrespect meant.

Re: This Is How We Bingham
I didn’t really see any teaching of the “true meaning of Christmas” at all from that vlog. They bought the kids more stuff. They went out to a fancy dinner. They looked at Christmas lights. Annnnnd where in that is the “true meaning of Christmas”? Is it their version? Aka materialism and gift giving? If so, nailed it.itsame wrote:I like how the parents are "educating" their children on the true meaning of Christmas- nothing but a heavily commercialized sales holiday- by naturally buying them all trees and going out for a fancy dinner. I was brought up in a very religious household, and consider myself a Christian, and honestly, I am more offended by their unashamed gluttony and conspicuous consumption than by your comments.itsame wrote:I like how the parents are "educating" their children on the true meaning of Christmas- nothing but a heavily commercialized sales holiday- by naturally buying them all trees and going out for a fancy dinner. My parents were very active in the Episcopal Church. But they were judgy or holier than thou. We had openly gay friends of the family. My dad took care of one of them when he was dying of AIDS. They raised money for and opened a low cost daycare/early childhood education center in the poor neighborhood of Virginia Beach. They taught refugees English and helped them get settled in the US. I can only hope to be as good as they were. And they never boasted about any of the things they did. To them being Christian was about being "Christ _like_". And Jesus hung out with the poor, the "sinners", and the outcasts. I don't think he would recognize or claim these materialistic show offs.
Sorry for ranting. These people just irritate me. Going to church doesn't make you Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car. The way these people pat themselves on the back for doing a couple of nice things (and putting it in monetized videos) is not "Christian".

Re: This Is How We Bingham
So this is off topic (kinda) and I know we arent quite ready for part 2 yet. I guess it'll be a few weeks. But I was thinking it would be fun todo some kind of play on words for their new titles like some other threads here do. Something along the lines of
This Is How We CLICKBAIT
Or something like that. Obviously we dont have to and its up to thw group but i always imagine how funny it would be if they saw that lol. Just something to think about. Id guess Christmas will put this thread over the top based on how they celebrate so materialistically.
