That's because that's probably what they did. In fact, they probably went back and returned everything after filming the video. Much of what we see is all for show, I'm convinced of it.

Watching that gold chain interaction with Russell was so cringey! What a bizarre set of gifts for a 7 year old. Poor kid is going to be sent to school with a pinky ring, a gold chain, and cologne on. It’s like Ruby wants him to be made fun of or to get in trouble for losing something expensive. I noticed Kay jewelry boxes too...what’s the point of buying little kids real jewelry, rings especially, that they will outgrow, lose, and generally don’t care about. Eve lucked out in the present department this year. Can’t wait to see what Shari got (a book, toothbrush, pocketknife, ring, chain, perfume, and bathing suit??). The pocketknife obsession in entire family do weird to me too. What are they supposed to do with them? I bet at least one kid will have if confiscated by TSA and another get it taken away at school.

At least the kids got each other decent sibling gifts since Ruby and Kevin dropped the ball.

Totally agree that their gifts were completely pitiful and a waste of money. Those Hawaii rings are something I would’ve told my kids to not waste their money on. Ruby and Kevin clearly got those at a souvenir shop.

The problem with a lot of their gifts like the cologne/perfume and jewelry is that the parents buy them the top of the line stuff. Why do your girls need Marc Jacobs perfume and your boys Calvin Klein/Dior cologne? My girls love perfume too, but I’m not spending $55 dollars on one for a child. Target sells body mist/perfumes for less than $30 that are more practical.

If they were lessening the presents they should’ve at least made them thoughtful. Ruby could’ve easily done something similar to the “4 gift rule”

It’s nice to see them travel and get outside of their Utah bubble.

Seems like they are doing major Eve damage control with all the kissing of Eve’s ass. Too funny...we all know what a spoiled, out of control mess she is. Great parenting guys! I’m sure Heavenly Father approves... NOT. jmho :?

These two are so lazy. Could've bought better thoughtful presents much earlier or just hired someone to do it for them. Poor kids, forced to be grateful and like things they don't need or asked for. I thought I was the only one confused about the Christmas presents. I don't think children that young has any use for perfumes and If I recall, Russell has allergies so it can't be good for him.
I've noticed that they don't mess with Chad anymore. He gets what he wants and can complain without consequences. They won't be able to suppress Julie and Abies feelings/opinions for to long, especially Julie who've found her voice and she's popular amongst viewers.

Plus, perfumes and colognes are such a personal thing. And a perfume that smells great on one person can smell awful on another. I love Calvin Klein Eternity, but it stinks on me. My mom could only wear a few perfumes-- one of the Burberry ones, and an Annick Goutal one she discovered in London. Something that smells great on Shari might smell nasty on one of the younger girls-- who are too young for something like that anyway.
The gifts were weird for little kids. Period.

That's a very good point I had forgotten about! I used to love... well, I still do love, Chanel No 5, but when I wear it... it makes me sneeze and break out in hives! On others, or just smelling it on the little paper, I am good... but, the reaction with my skin... I sneeze and break out in hives. I had to give my bottle I was gifted, away to my sister. :( But, yes.. you have to go in to a shop and smell them, see what you like, and also try it on! You can't just buy one and expect it to work. Thoughtless gifts. smh

What the hell does Russel need proper cologne for? Just get him some cheap stuff from target for kids. Realistically he’s going to use that entire bottle in a couple weeks and douse himself in the stuff. Which is totally appropriate because he is a CHILD.

Same with the pinky ring. It already only fits his pinky. In 6 months time it won’t fit him at all. And ruby is going to make him feel terrible if he loses it. If he really wanted a ring, which I don’t think he did, a $5 one would mean just as much to him. And he wouldn’t have to be terrified of losing it

Because they think they’re suppose to. They think they have reached a certain status and buying Tiffany’s proves it.

And because to them, Tiffany's is "the best". Apparently they've never heard of Bulgari, Cartier, Harry Winston, or Van Cleef and Arpels.
Tiffany's is in a bunch of malls. But these hicks think it is "the best".

Yep, during that chain gift nonsense Russel was like "Mom, reacting to this is outside of my acting range!"" (read: "WTF mom?")

Hunky Hawaii tour guy had way more screentime than fifth-wheel kid Julie. Script writer Ruby has her preferences, LOL. Or to be fair, the external person who does the edits.

In general it seems Ruby loves to hear (and apparently see) herself talking, as a good part of most videos is just her holding the cam too close to her lipstick mouth whilst she does some superflous narration (read: japping). Grates my nerves. I'm alread on good motor skills to automatically mouseclick-jump as soon as her head is filling up the screen.

Yes, they are all sisters, and they have a brother named Beau, who has a channel named Griffith Family Vlogs. Their parents also vlog, (can't remember the exact name but it has Griffith in it, lol)

And they also have one more sister, Julie Deru (The Deru Crew). The whole family vlogs. Ellie and Jared started it, and then her sisters followed suit. Julie actually lists living in another state in her bio as if that's strange and something that makes her interesting. Ruby surpassed Ellie in views and subscribers. Most of us think that ticks Ellie off.
They're an odd family. Bonnie and Ellie do a lot together. Ruby not so much because she lives farther away. I'm surprised you said you never see them together. They don't have friends outside the family (not many anyway) because their mom told them they don't need friends. They have each other.
PS-- welcome to the Dark Side!

Because it makes them feel rich and important. They really think they are celebrities but in reality they are just uneducated housewives from Utah.

Ruby just said on Instagram that the swimsuits the girls got were from her cousin’s shop and shouted her out, so those were an impersonal, sponsored gift too. In Shari’s gift video she started off by talking about how she hates matching her siblings and will change if she does. Later in the video she holds up the exact same suit Abby and Julie got. Way to go Kevin and Ruby.
