Before everyone jumps down my throat, it is obvious that Brianna's dad is not in the greatest health, BUT something seems fishy about this whole hospice thing. In order to go into hospice you have to be judged by a doctor that you have less than 6 months to live. Now her dad has been in "hospice" since last summer (July?) and doesn't appear to be going downhill. Maybe he is just old and needs to be in a nursing home. There are many news reports of people who claim they need hospice which then gets them into a better facilty with a private room where if they just went into a nursing home they would probably have to share a room in a lower quality facility. The government is willing to pay for relatively expensive hospice care because it is expected to only last a short time. If your dad were truly in hospice, would you go on MULTIPLE vacations including leaving the country if there were a chance he could die at any moment? I am going to predict right here that her dad will still be with us at the end of 2019 (10 months from now). If he does pass away this year I will be the first to apologize and offer my condolences. I have a feeling though that he will be here for many years to come (and will a certain someone take him in?).

You're correct, something is fishy. Most are put on some type of hospice care for the last 6 months of life and many are given hospice care at their home, as in Home Health nurse visits, Aide, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, whatever is needed for however many days needed for the illness and pain management. When you have less than 6 week is when MOST, not all, but most people are moved into facilities for End of Life care. Of course there are different situations and this model doesn't fit for all people, all illnesses, etc., but this is usually the guideline followed for hospice care. So is it true hospice or is he in an assisted living facility? I can't comment on what is true or what is not because I skip the stuff about her father. I just don't like when people like her play off people to get sympathy for these situations. Hospice care is for 6 months. A Dr certifies (that sounds bad) that a terminal patient has less than 6 months. If a patient exceeds 6 months a Dr can reapply for another 6 months of Hospice Care. My FIL went almost 2yrs with Pancreatic Cancer in Hospice. He was in a facility much like Bri's Dad. At home care was not an option due to cost. My MIL had to keep working for insurance.
