Yt moms care more about the aesthetic of toys than the actual function

Right! Or we don’t do a lot of electronic/noise/light toys because they trigger migraines for me. But I comprise for things that have adjustable volume or other fun engaging bright toys they like. It isn’t all about ME and what I like. Or worse, for Elle it’s all about what she thinks her viewers need to see in order to think she’s the perfect woman.

And where are the Legos? My son loved building since he was a 2. I hope she's not depriving them of Lego building just because of aesthetics.

Don’t worry guys she’s reading and will post a video next week “decluttering” their hidden secret toy closet.

Haha! I’ll bet money that a stash of legos appears magically in her house! But honestly, about the legos- those are the BEST toy you can offer a child! I played LEGO endlessly as a kid and my kids both love playing LEGO. We do LEGO every single day! Thinking about it, I’m actually shocked she doesn’t have any considering Forde is “gifted” you’d think she would supplement with appropriate toys.

Speaking of her thinking Forde is gifted... that pisses me off, my son is actually gifted, like we paid a small fortune to have him formally diagnosed, and it doesn’t generally present the way that Forde is. I think her giving him false labels is frustrating to parents of truly gifted children, because giftedness is rarely linear and gifted children quite often appear as very chaotic because they have such asynchronous development. I’ll bet Cohen is the gifted one, not Forde...

Is Elle still saying Forde is “gifted”? I haven’t heard her and Dan mention it since last summer (Ive missed a lot of vlogs) but I figured once he started school she would realize he’s not actually gifted. Lots of kids can read in kindergarten, he’s not special. With her having a teaching background I would have expected that she taught him how to read and write at home. Since he doesn’t seem to have any friends (remember that kid he played with in the park and Elle freaked out that he was actually PLAYING WITH A KID and then she hunted down the mother so they could be besties) he probably learned a larger vocabulary because he was stuck at home with Elle all day.

If Forde was actually tested for and shown to be gifted (from Dan’s side obviously) then you better believe she would have a 6 part vlog series about it.

Speaking of toys, I noticed in a post or video the other day that they still have that shape sorting car out for the boys to play with. That is a straight up baby toy, her kids are almost 3 and 5. I’m sure Elle would say “oh but they still play with it!” yeah, because they don’t have anything else.

I’m the first to say I hate plastic toys that light up and make sounds. I’m with her on that. I don’t think any of the toys we have even take a battery. I invest in my kids’ toys so that they can be used for literally years. She doesn’t seem to invest in anything for her kids - they play with a tiny selection of cheap toys that they get for free from toy companies, and that’s it. Part of having kids is having toys in your living room - period.

In addition to the WHERE IS THE LEGO conversation...WHERE ARE THE TRAINS!? How does a person with two kids not have a train set?! At least she has a set of magna tiles, FINALLY a useful toy that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages and for a long time.

If she really thinks Forde is gifted, there are so many games etc out there to really challenge his mind. She was headed in the right direction with puzzles and Bananagrams but then seems to have stopped there. Seems unfair to me that a boy like Forde who is believed to be gifted, isn’t being challenged beyond JK and is still playing with a toy that he outgrew 4 years ago. He deserves to be respected as a growing boy.

The legos will magically appear.... but first they need to all be spray painted rose gold so that they match the “family aesthetic”. LOL!

She probably has at least 10 cans of that paint so she can be ready at a moments notice.

Re: gifted.

Here in Ontario, kids are not testing for giftedness until grade three. If she suspects he is gifted, she can try and pay out of pocket to test him herself but I don’t reslly see a point unless his giftedness is getting in the way of his learning.

I myself was also a teacher and I having taught kindergarten for many years it’s easy enough to distinguish which kids are just smart and which ones may be gifted. Typically I find the gifted children are not traditionally smart (which forde seems to be). Their giftedness comes with a different learning style and often behavioural problems or personality quirks. Forde is probably just above average intelligence. Which is actually in my experience a lot easier to handle than a gifted child. Being gifted is not all
It’s cracked up to be but she should know that from
Her two entire years of teaching experience.

Yeah, it is just her pretentiousness that makes her think he's gifted. There are children who pick up on concepts easily and can memorize a lot of facts and may have an above-average interest in learning, and those skills are all useful in their own way, but they do not make a child gifted. And you're right, it's better to have a child that falls within the "average" range. The students I taught who were truly gifted were around 6 years ahead of the class in certain subjects and got bored and really struggled because they weren't learning at their level, and it was unfair to them but impossible to differentiate lessons to such a degree and not leave the lower-performing students behind. They also hindered the other students' learning.

Is it just me or has it been weeks since Elle had three videos a week released. Especially the Friday video?

She should just suck it up and admit she can’t habdle three a week right now (a bunch of the other Canadian mom vloggers are down to two a week now too).

She posted something on Friday on YouTube saying she wasn’t happy with the edit and it would be up by Saturday. Still no vlog on Sunday afternoon and no update.

My theory is that she read here that we think she talks about herself too much in the Everyday Extraordinary interviews and now she feels embarrassed by the content because she realizes she did it in subsequent videos too.

Ding ding ding! Winner! I completely agree.

I think in general she’s reading here and (whether she’ll admit it or not) embarrassed.

Elle, if you’re reading this, just post the interview! Even if you inserted yourself into their story, it’s still not about you. Don’t waste their time by having them spill their guts to you and to YouTube, only to have the content shelved because you might not have come off in the best light. You made a commitment to them to share their story...honour it.

Yes, post the ones you’ve filmed so that it’s not wasting their time, and learn from the experience and make the future interviews about the interviewer’s experiences.

Lol she posted a 10 sec clip on FB of the video and even in that tiny snippet you can hear her talking over the interviewee. She tried to edit to minimize it, but it’s there 😆

Does anyone watch other mom Youtubers with comments disabled still? I only watch a few Mom/family channels and their comments are back up and apparently YouTube has all creators approving comments now and its mandatory. Weird that Elle's is still disabled.

A lot less interrupting in today's video, thank God. But also it was heavily edited with lots of cuts as you guys predicted.

I am not interested in this series. I came for mommy content, not to see her as Barbara Walters.

Yes, she’s the only one with comments still disabled out of all the mommy youtubers that I watch. Maybe she is leaving them disabled so no one can abuse her anymore!
