Didn’t Rachel Hollis get criticized for basically plagiarizing all of her motivational quotes and philosophies? Elle is plagiarizing a plagiarizer haha. Classic.

Yea, I had never heard of Rachel Hollis prior to reading her book. Not a fan at all.

Also not a fan of Elle 😂

Why does Elle always have to address Ellie as “their adoptive dog”. Why can’t she just say “we have a dog named Ellie”. If she had an adoptive child would she go around and introduce them as “my adoptive child”? She makes it seem like she took in some poor, abandoned dog.

Plus, the dog came from a breeder. Let’s be honest. She didn’t save her from the animal shelter or pound. Ellie was a breeding dog who was going to retire, MANY families would’ve happily taken this docile pure breed.

No shade if you don’t adopt a dog. You do you. But calling Ellie an “adopted” dog? No. Once again, elle trying to convince herself that she’s SO inspiring and amazing and saved this creature’s life!

On another note, I finally went to her blog website. Her tagline makes me think she really isn't self aware. It goes:

"empowering myself and my community to seek after the journey to live a joyful, healthy, empowered lifestyle!"

Aka, I want to be an influencer to Lord for the social status and the money, lol.

Yeah, Ellie was never in danger of being homeless, let’s be real. Even if there was nobody lined up out the door to adopt her, she would have lived with the breeder forever.

I wonder if she will refer to her kids as “our sons and our test tube baby.” She already makes the distinction in several Instagram posts etc where she refers back to how she wasn’t created the natural way etc.

It’s another example of how a fertility journey is, for her, a shortcoming or failure. It’s fine for other people to struggle, but when SHE struggles, she constantly has to talk in circles to convince us and herself that it’s all good and fine. “You weren’t conceived in the natural way but you were created in our hearts.” All the typical canned sentiments.

I think she will always hold this baby separately to the boys for the reasons that she was conceived by IUI and also that she’s a girl. On the one hand, the baby isn’t “legitimate” (in her eyes) and on the other hand, the baby is a miraculous gift from God. And she’s a girl. Basically a unicorn. It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Then layer on top of that the fact that she’s admitted she wants to use this baby as a way to “do over” her bad relationship with her own mother. Which is natural, I guess, but why throw all that heavy baggage on your sweet fresh new baby? It’s a recipe for disaster in my opinion. Also baby girl Svetlana/Grace/Clover/Brinley needs to be in therapy ASAP

You’re so right!! Having all this supercharged energy directed towards this baby is only going to be a recipe for disaster.

Oh god, are those the names they’re considering?

I can totally see her naming the baby Grace, or Faith, or some old English names like Audrey or Mildred. The best name I saw thrown out there by viewers was Danielle hahaha

Ok, so I finally watched her spring cleaning video and a couple things:

1) I wish ‘Home girl’ would invest in some maternity pajama pants because her butt was eating those pants!

2) That outrageously large toaster oven on her counter is just another attempt at Elle keeping up with the proverbial Jones’ of YouTube. Her ‘best friend’ Arianna on YouTube (who was part of this collab) has that same toaster oven, but actually uses it all the time and raves about it. I guess Elle just had to jump on that bandwagon too.

Goodness these cleaning videos are soooo boring and overdone. Watch me run a mircofiber cloth all over my home and erase invisible dirt! Her content is realllllyyyy drying up these days. I enjoyed the family vlogs when Forde was a baby and I wish she'd go back to that style. Her talking head videos where she has the high pitched "Ms Perfect" voice and various montages of her cleaning and putting together Ikea furniture (where's that sustainable high quality ethos now?!) are getting about as boring as watching paint dry. I want to like her, I really do but she's not making it easy.

I actually watched the cleaning video. I deserve a prize for sitting through that nonsense. Whoever said it was like watching paint dry, YUP.

Them pants and that booty! For someone who drops hundreds on quality outfits you’d think she could buy proper sized pants. They were alllll up in her crack and slipping to show that trashy hideous back tattoo. I did not feel empowered.

Cleaning a clean house. YAWN. She posted on FB hiring a professional cleaner to deep clean her house, so it’s obvious she’s just rubbing microfiber over everything. She used the same rag for the WHOLE DANG KITCHEN. Physically impossible if anything was even remotely dirty. Clearly her cleaning lady handled it all before this video was shot.

WHY does she have the white balance set so high on her videos? It washes out EVERYTHING and you can barely see any details of her home and “decor”. It’s too bright. Adjust your camera Elle! It doesn’t look white and clean, it looks washed out!

I cringed when she went over the TV screen with her homemade cleaner-soaked rag...you shouldn't use anything other than water or a designated electronics screen cleaner or you could ruin the protective film on the screen.

But Elle's a cleaning guru...so I'm sure she already knows this and I'm mistaken about the rag being wet with her essential oil magicwater.

She posted on her stories that she was at Target with her BFFs Alexandra Gater AND (drum roll) MELISSA MAKER. I wonder if the post was to show us that they’re still besties. Heck, I don’t even like Elle but I wouldn’t turn my nose up at a Target run with her either.

Let’s take bets on what they will buy! Elle will buy geometric rose gold wall planter things because she doesn’t already have anything like that in her house () as well as a bunch of super girly girl baby clothes (but she’s all about that high quality unisex clothing, y’all). Alexandra Gater will buy more ironic knickknacks and things that she can glue gun pompoms onto. Melissa Maker will not buy much of anything because she strikes me as pretty mature with her money and style and doesn’t just buy things for the sale of buying things like Elle does.

$10 says one of them buys a door mat or tea towels.

Can she stop calling unmedicated birth “natural” - it is beyond offensive in my community. I run a 40k member parenting discussion board and we’ve banned that phrase. All birth is natural. Unmedicated = natural. Pet peeve.

How empowering is it for her to hashtag her posts “healthy pregnancy” and “healthy mom” — why does she do that except to highlight how superior and “healthy” she is?? She does realize that not everyone CHOOSES to be unhealthy? Pregnant moms with type 1 diabetes, endocrine disorders, lupus, mental health struggles, cancer, hepatitis... like, these people exist. They are valid. They are great moms.

Idk. Maybe I’m being sensitive. But it bothers me. Plus is she really all that healthy? Her bump date makes her look like a swollen pudge. Clearly she’s got some struggle causing her to swell so much when she’s never had swelling before?

I hate it too. She uses it in such a way that it belittles everyone who didn’t have an unmedicated/“natural” birth. Like she’s the first woman on earth to give birth without drugs.

HUGE pet peeve of mine as well!

I used to see in the comments on her preachy “natural” birth vlogs that people would explain to her why they had chosen drugs during their deliveries. Elle would reply “oh yeah, your experience totally merits an epidural!” as if it’s up to her to decide whether or not another woman’s choice is justified. It’s like people were telling her their stories so they could be absolved.

I’ve given birth both with and without an epidural, and honestly, who cares. It literally matters nothing, and to no one. I don’t even think about my own labour experiences. Why would anyone else? We’re all too busy living our lives. Giving birth is special and wonderful on its own. It doesn’t need to constantly be placed in a framework of natural vs “unnatural.” It’s just another way that she tries to put herself on a different playing field.
