Omg, yes the tape thing was weird! But my first thought was "your grabby hands better not touch the tape for Abby's project". Didn't she just redo her pantry in containers? So it makes even less sense lol.

I must be an idiot. I didn’t realize you you couldn’t put metal cans in the fridge.

Once cans are opened foods should be placed in a clean glass container, covered and stored in the refrigerator.
When these foods are stored in the opened metal can, tin and iron will dissolve from the can walls and the food may develop a metallic taste.
Food containing high concentrations of tin can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, abdominal bloating, fever or headache. These symptoms pass quickly and there seem to be no long term effects of high tin exposure. However, repackaging food once a can is opened is a good practice to adopt for all foods packaged in metal cans.

She's made it perfectly clear to the audience that her vlogs are 1-2 weeks behind...so why is she now trying to pretend that they aren't?? Or is her instagram also 2 weeks behind? LOL that's so ridiculous and just confusing her 8 year old viewers to no end
I would understand if it was to protect Abby's privacy but that obviously isn't why since she advertises her kid's whole life on youtube anyway, hasn't even made it remotely hard to find out where they live
Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
Everyone's grandma used to warn them that storing food in open cans was the cause of botulism. That's when everyone's grandma used to do their own canning though, and when tin cans were widespread, As usual, the Griffiths act more like great grandmas than young-ish mothers. It's still kind of an unappealing practice though.Baconsgirl wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 8:04 pm I must be an idiot. I didn’t realize you you couldn’t put metal cans in the fridge.

Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
Is Lord of the Rings really that complex? I have never read it. I thought Shari's book list would be quite different, for someone that spent their childhood with their nose in a book. She even mentioned that she loves "classics", then spends half the video talking about how she hates most of them. I hate most "classics" too, but I don't pretend otherwise....

Meanwhile it was my grandmother that I’ve seen with cans in the fridge lmao.Z3phyr wrote:Everyone's grandma used to warn them that storing food in open cans was the cause of botulism. Not sure about LoTR, I was never interested in reading it or watching the movie/s... but, from Shari's vlog, she annoyed me with talking about how much she enjoyed a book... "even though it was in letter form" because "letter form" books must be such bad things... And said she didn't like another book so she "threw it away" so she wouldn't go back to it... I really hope she just donated it, because that's wasteful and rude to just throw a book away. I don't care if she bought it with her own money or not. I also don't think she really understands what "classics" are, seeing as she hated most of them, yet she just loves "classics".Kattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 7:26 pm Is Lord of the Rings really that complex? Lord of the Rings is a pretty complex book honestly. Ive never really had an issue reading them as I watched the movies previously and already knew the basic plot line of the book. However, for someone that isn't interested in heavy reading/fantasy genres then I can see how it would be a more difficult book to read. It was written in the 40s or 50s so the writing style is different so i'm surprised 9th graders were studying it. Where I live, Tolkien's books are usually studied either in 12th grade or a a first year university English course. (I did Lord of the Rings in 12th grade and the Hobbit in a first year university course)Kattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 7:26 pm Is Lord of the Rings really that complex? Not really hard to read - just long and often don't hold younger reader's attention. But they are very straightforward, with no deep metaphors or complicated psychological development. I checked and based on their Lexile rating they are suitable for good reader in 5th grade (10yrs) or poor reader in 9th grade (14 yrs). The only problem is to find a ten year old who is interested in the story, but language/grammar/etc. are pretty simple.Kattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 7:26 pm Is Lord of the Rings really that complex? From what I've heard people complain about book's pace mostly and it going too slow, especially for younger audience. So they get bored and abandon the book... Which is often the case with classical literature too but there the complexity is often to blame, while here not really.lightasfeather wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 6:45 amNot really hard to read - just long and often don't hold younger reader's attention. Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
I was wondering if Shari thinking LOTR's was too deep/complex for her to grasp at 15 was an indication of her true intelligence.....looks like it might be. Maybe she has the same problem as Abby, where she is obsessed with reading, but she doesn't seem to be grasping the material, or picking up the vocabulary & grammar? That would explain why her book list is so strange and disjointed. She didn't convince me to read any of them; I don't ever want to read Dumas now! It seems like several books only made it on the list, because they were deemed "a literary classic" at school, and she could somewhat tolerate them. She gave off the impression that she likes romance novels and fantasy, although reading love scenes out to her brother in front of her grandparents seems a little twisted. It also appears she doesn't know the definition of a novel.lightasfeather wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 6:52 amFrom what I've heard people complain about book's pace mostly and it going too slow, especially for younger audience. Did anyone else think it is weird that she called her English teacher her "2nd father"? There seems to be a pattern emerging of Shari seeking out inappropriate relationships with older men in authority Dr. Coach anyone?
