Your everyday residential home inspector (from my experience) can't guarantee anything—they can point out problems they see from the surface and give recommendations and estimates. They can't dig into walls or pry ceilings open. That's the buyer's responsibility to negotiate with the sellers from what they get in the BASIC report—or ask for additional, more specific inspections. I'm sure the inspector did say "up to five years" and Corby took that as a guarantee. To me that says, "oops, the roof is going to be a problem." Five years is definitely not a good estimate—since roofs typically last 25-30 years.storeynyx wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 4:22 pmI feel like maybe the inspector said “up to 5 years”, and Corbin heard “don’t worry about it for 5 years” - you know if it had been written in the report, Corbin would be stamping his feet and trying to make the inspector pay. Remember that huge fit he threw with the insurance company? As if we wouldn’t be seeing a repeat if it was actually the inspector’s faultTheirmom wrote:He better HOPE that the inspector lied about the roof. That is, if he hired a registered, certified inspector. There are some stiff protections in place for inspectors who miss small problems, but if an inspector misses something huge, or flat out lies about a major problem, they can be forced to pay to fix the damage through their insurance.jmoysa wrote:Their big reveal is Kelsey sitting and talking about what she wants to plant while looking on her phone. It was stupid since she seemed so distracted. She actually admitted that she’s already missed one planting season. She also made the comment again about being around for harvesting.
They seem to do a lot of “checking” but don’t follow through like the drip watering system. Just lazy.
Hi Corby... after questions about their roof on here, he says they now have to get a whole new roof (big surprise). He says he wonders what else the inspector lied about. They rushed into buying this old, tiny house and it wouldn’t have mattered what was said about it. So wonder who’s going to pay for the new roof, new baby, plants, and travel? He couldn’t be making that much money doing that video stuff he says he’s doing.
But, chances are, Corbin didn’t hire a registered, insured, legitimate inspector.
Like I said before, I don't think they really knew how to read the report...and maybe didn't show it to their parents for additional advice.
