HA!!!!! I guessed Brighton!!!!!!! Somebody send me a fucking google home.
Love that she made us wait two weeks for a pre-filmed sit down video with no production quality.
My favourite moment is when she said she felt like GOD WAS ORCHESTRATING THE MOMENT she met a little boy with the same name as the town her dad grew up in. WOW WHAT A MIRACULOUS COINCIDENCE.
I have many more thoughts on this 17 minute name reveal. I’ll wait for TeachIT to work her magic...

I'm sorry, that's such a ridiculous name for a baby girl. If I got my ~miracle 3rd child baby girl~ I would give her an obviously-girl name. Veronica Brighton would have made soooo much more sense (to me).

Awkward Elle and Dan on a couch video.
“We’re filming this now because we’re mostly sure this will be her name” - Aka this video was made ahead of time and there’s no reason she couldn’t post it except to tease out views for her boring baby.
“This girl is a special girl, so we needed a special name” as opposed to our boys who were not special in any way.
Spiel about secondary infertility (FALSE WOMAN YOU’RE JUST IMPATIENT). How she was conceived was different, and Blankette has taught Elle to “lower her expectations.” Awkward but ok.
“We have been shown signs from god that this is her name” - God’s busy, but he has time to help Elle name Blankette don’t worry!
She has two middle names, the first part is Veronica. Because Elle only has one actual friend, she decided to use her name. Which is good because Veronica deserves the world for putting up with Elle’s bullshit. “maybe some of her (Veronica’s) good qualities will leach into her (Blankette)” - fingers crossed Elle, because Blankette isn’t learning any good qualities from you. (Yes she literally used the word “leach” here!)
Awkward shot of fat Elle in an unflattering position folding baby clothes. I *think* this is supposed to me emotionally stirring me, but honestly I’m just worried about her cankles. Pretty swollen.
Next part of the middle name, Jane, after Dan’s mom who hates Elle. Awwwwwww. As Dan discusses his mom Elle stares off into space and nods blankly. I can’t tell if she hates her MiL or just hates that attention is on someone else for a minute.
Then Elle admits that Jane is also Veronica’s moms name, which is why she was willing to use it. Of course it couldn’t just be because it’s important to Dan, because he’s just a pocketbook and sperm donor to her.
Elle went on a mission trip but don’t worry guys it wasn’t “poverty tourism”, it was a REAL mission trip. Like a for real for real one. There she went to an orphanage where she ignorantly didn’t know that adoption was illegal, and iNtRoVeRt Elle met a boy named Brighton. Cue the fake dramatic attention seeking Elle tears.
This was the “moment from god” that told her, “hey, name your privileged white baby that you made with an IUI instead of adoption after this poor African boy who is an orphan and needs adoption” — because that’s totally how God works. The little boy said “do you think you’ll remember me?” Aw and now Elle names her daughter after him. Thank god this little boy has a trendy hipster name, or Elle NEVER would’ve remembered him or this “moment from god” if he’d had a traditional African name.
She told the little boy that sometimes God’s answer to things is “no” and that’s why his prayers for school/food/better life are going ignored. But if you’re Elle and God says “no” to another baby, you just pay for an IUI!
Ok it gets real jesus-y here. More than already. I can’t really make fun of it, but I will say I’m not convinced Elle is a real Christian. Maybe I’m cynical

Thank you TeachIT for the recap! I couldn't finish it and had to stop when she blabbed about how a lot of mission trips are poverty tourism and she went on a REAL one.
Well I hate it to break it to you Elle, what you described was a Poverty tourism trip to the tea. We financially supported family in the past that does missions for years at a time. They spend their own money and take a leave for at least 6 months at a time from their actual jobs to share their skills to help out communities in need. We helped out a friend who was a CNN videographer to go to cartel land in Mexico so he can film the stories of the people that run the orphanages there. His life was in constant danger and he did that for free so he can bring more awareness and bring funds to help out those kids.
Yes, there are those who go to missions to white-knight. But there are also people that sacrifice what they have to do good in the world. It's just so ridiculous that Elle thinks she's so self aware that she didn't do it purely for her own growth.
P.S. Baby girl is still Blankette to me.

"Oh em gee, you're named after a town in Britain!" idk why that's bothering me but it is. Big assumption, and as if she's blessing this kid with that info because he was clueless about that being the name of a town somewhere far off.
My name is also an uppity city/area of London, a football club, and I'm sure a bajillion other places and things. But I wasn't named after any of those, my parents were struggling with a name and happened to pass by a daiquiri shop with my name on it and my dad said, "Hey, what about that name?"
Also, if you catch Dan's explanation of the adoption law it MUCH more clearly conveys the weight and implications of adoption being illegal versus Elle's yammering that really doesn't fully encompass the issue.
I think this video really just shows how imbalanced that relationship is...Dan, sensitive and intelligent next to Elle, "ME!ME!ME!ME!"

Omg yes. I didn’t want to be the monster who pointed this out but it was my thought exactly. Not the child’s fault at all - many are trained from young ages to take advantage of idealistic privileged westerners who want to just PAY to fix issues.
