Well I hate it to break it to you Elle, what you described was a Poverty tourism trip to the tea. We financially supported family in the past that does missions for years at a time. They spend their own money and take a leave for at least 6 months at a time from their actual jobs to share their skills to help out communities in need. We helped out a friend who was a CNN videographer to go to cartel land in Mexico so he can film the stories of the people that run the orphanages there. His life was in constant danger and he did that for free so he can bring more awareness and bring funds to help out those kids.

Yes, there are those who go to missions to white-knight. But there are also people that sacrifice what they have to do good in the world. It's just so ridiculous that Elle thinks she's so self aware that she didn't do it purely for her own growth.

P.S. Baby girl is still Blankette to me.

This woman is LOST. Does she really believe what is coming out of her own mouth? Do her viewers buy it? Does Dan? What an act...
She just posted some nonsense about feeling 'spendy' at West Coast Kids, has bought a boat load of unnecessary crap for Blankette, and no longer mentions her 'Giving Back' fund... She is so wasteful when she should know there are more constructive ways to invest her dollars i.e., like supporting orphanages, social programs, or education... whatever...

“Spendy” at WCK and then made a post and said ALL baby girls items are from WCK. I’ve watched her materialistic unboxing on IG, Blankette has ton from other places (including viewers and sponsors who have sent her free stuff! Wha an insult to them!)

Fuck I was thinking Brighton too but thought it was a little ridiculous.

You can already tell how much differently blankette will be treated from the boys. How much better she’ll be treated. She’s already gotten so much more thought and meaning put into her name than the boys ever did. A 17 minute video with 5 non-skipable ads.

Someone mentioned above the idea that the kids at the orphanage are likely trained to make the rich white people feel bad for them, so they’ll donate a bunch of money. I literally have never thought of that before, but it totally makes sense. The kids name likely wasn’t even Brighton.

Maybe I’m being nit-picky but does it bother anyone else that she said ‘my boys and my daughter’.
To me personally it feels like the boys are just boys. Whereas baby GIRL is here wonderful, amazing daughter

So Elle met this Brighton kid in Zimbabwe before she was married. Wouldn't it make more sense if she had name their first child Brighton if he meant so much to her? Also considering that the experience of meeting this kid was a lot closer to their 1st birth than their 3rd one. Just a thought.

I ended up watching the whole thing and she did say the Orphanage shut down because of mistreatment. Not sure who posted above that this Brighton kid was probably taught how to befriend westerners is totally plausible! Never thought about that but it makes so much sense considering it was a "Living and Learning journey" type of missions trip. Sad and funny that Elle is 100% convinced herself that that mission was NOT Poverty tourism.

Did she announce the winner of the name guessing contest yet? I’m half expecting her to say ACTUALLY you were supposed to guess the full name, no google homes for anybody!!!!

A quick peruse of the comments, 5 or 6 people guessed Brighton. Hope she’s got a lot of google homes.

re: Feeling as 'proud big sister'/nod to Kyra
I am not gonna use this space to go into a full-on rant bashing that channel but it says a lot about Elle. (I only heard about it through Elle)
Elle points out Kyra was a teen mom who made an empire for herself out of a less than ideal situation. Okay, but at what cost? Exploiting your kids/family by constantly broadcasting injuries and visits to the ER??? Congrats!

They do have an audience, which is what Elle really envies... I guess viewers may appreciate that they do not hide their propensity for bad choices but I just find it unwatchable.

I agree with you. OKBaby glorifies teen pregnancy and honestly is a perfect example of how not to start your life despite all the money and success they’re having right now.

Oscar and Kyra have mentioned having problems in the past but because of this lifestyle they’ve created and their THREE children, their relationship is entirely codependent. They have to make their relationship work if they want to stay in that giant house and not get real jobs and whatnot. I can’t imagine being her age with all that responsibility. Where will they be in 5-10 years? Image

If I were Elle, OKBaby would not be the channel I’d pick to align myself with.

In all honesty I do not know too much about Kyra's channel but I will say this: each time I did happen to watch they were in chaos... Kyra falling while 8m pregnant from her kids running into her with a motorized car, father breaking his back while indoor rock climbing, the little girl covered in blood from getting hit with a swing(while being supervised by a clearly incompetent, newly hired babysitter who could not handle the situation and went into panic mode), little boy covered in blood from father flying a drone into his face... I know accidents happen but to use them as dramatic opportunities to get view count??? They are lucky none of these situations did not lead to MUCH worse outcomes. I find it disgusting. I find it repulsive that Elle wants to ride their wave.

Kyra also had that snap chat / Instagram story incident she posted about some physical altercation (either her husband or another family member). Way to inspire all those teen moms.

I also noticed Elle said in her instastories that Kyra “took a potentially dangerous situation” and made it better referring to having her first child so young ? It’s not like Kyra was some 15 year old pregnant girl living on the streets. Maybe I don’t know all of her back story but I didn’t quite understand that comment. Anyone know?

I bet Elle is seething with jealously that she didn’t come up with a baby blanket business opportunity Elle has only been able to steal other people’s ideas and quotes for t-shirts and water bottles.

Do you remember that time she wanted to come up with her own daily planner?? Like that’s been done so many times and pretty sure she stole that idea specifically from Rachel Hollis or possibly Tone It Up.

Btw, for anyone interested, Randy and Anna's birth story vlog is up. I doubt Elle will acknowledge them--y'know because not really that useful with 10k sub count...

I just watched it. Really nice video and I’m so happy for them! They have waited so long for this baby. Emmie looks just like Anna.

Ok, I have a few issues with this vlog

#1 as mentioned already, you’d think with this boy making such an impact on Elle she’d want to name her first son after him. I believe Forde had some spiritual meaning to their decision but I don’t believe it had the apparent depth as this name supposedly had.

#2 - why does she blur everyone else’s faces but this MINOR boy’s? Did she get permission to post it publicly (a rhetorical question since she states they can’t find him)

#3 - admittedly, I don’t know much about poverty tourism but it definitely sounds like whoever sent her to Zimbabwe didn’t do THEIR research on this orphanage. Also - if Elle was so adamant that they were going to sponsor this kid, how long did it really take her to search him out? I get that the orphanage could close the very next day but a quick turn around and SOMEONE should have been able to find him. Unless she waited months.

The name was just ok to me. I’m not particularly fond of it but I don’t hate it.

A while back, Elle used to post pics on Instagram and even in her vlogs, showing some random person and be like “ha-ha-ha this person doesn’t even know he’s famous on YouTube”. I remember specifically one vlog she did that in when they visited Dan’s university. They were driving around and she picks some random person on the street. I thought it was so childish of her, she’s done a few times that I’ve seen over the years.

She totally held off on posting this vlog until after the birth because she was worried she would have a c-section thus resulting in an uneventful VIRAL BIRTH VLOG. News flash: BOTH WERE BORING and neither are going viral.

I like how she named blankette after her best friends mom but no mention of her own mom at all. I guess she doesn’t want her moms DNA anywhere near her BABY GIRL. (That’s Elle talk right there, not actual real science).

This woman is in for a real shock when 6 months in she’s still making the same lame videos with 8% viewership. I wonder if she’ll have another kid because the only videos that get any views are her stupid birth vlogs?

Her mom was abusive. I'm actually pretty proud of her for not even giving her a mention - she doesn't deserve anything for what she put Elle through.
