If it were me I would absolutely drill holes in the bottom and fill the tub part way with gravel to aid in drainage.
The ones the used looked like the tubs didn’t have bottoms at all so I guess they’re relying on that mulch for drainage. If they eat substancial rain their plants will struggle for sure.
