Wow! I had no idea he did that. That’s so messed up to give medical advice when he is not a health care professional. Honestly o think he is stuck on having a “prestigious” and “high tier” sort of job. I feel like he likely failed out of medical school (either bad grades or couldn’t pass step 1 if he did 2 years of med school-I don’t remember if he did 1 or 2) and since that dream died he is stuck on becoming a professor. Even if he gets a PhD , getting tenure and finding a full fledged professor position is so so so hard because there’s so few open. At this point they both need reality checksNamm wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 12:35 pmI think you're on to something.jenen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 2:39 pm omg what is it with these 2? I just watched a few of their videos and i'm appalled. Clearly something is wrong and Landon can't cope with the work load or something. If he really wanted to be a professor why the heck would he give up on med school? A lot of people get their mD and don't do a residency but instead use it to teach, do research , get into industry, etc. It's an unbelievable amount of debt especially if they were using loans to support the family and not just for his tuition. He can't get through med school, how does he think he'll make it through vet school or a phd? as someone currently in med school, let me tell you that failing out looks very bad especially for any future grad or professional programs. I know people in that position and they had trouble switching careers into PT/PA and stuff like that. HOnestly he can make good money with the degrees he already has and he should use that. julie and landon need a wakeup call that that's not a sustainable way to live especially with a family!
Does he even have any degree like they claim? I have a relative who fooled everyone that he was a professor until he got caught, it was a mess. So people can lie or twist the truth a little.
I remember in the beginning when Landon had his own channel and promoted himself as a doctor through conversations and advice in the comment section and the picture of him with a stethoscope and "a patient". Until one day when a viewer for some reason called him out and asked him why he was pretending to be a doctor when he wasn't. His respond was I never said that I was a doctor and the pictures of him illustrating a doctor was taken during his volunteer work according to him. I don't know if it was only a misunderstanding, but I remember that many viewers thought for a minute that he was a doctor.
I don't think he finished anything. Do they have any pictures of him graduating? If so then I apologies.
I just think that if he has a degree in something the best thing for him would be to get a job in that field, start somewhere and take care of his family.

I went back to see if his channel was still there, but it has merged into Deru Crew with the exception of a few vlogs from Landon's original channel. This vlog that was extra credit for an economic class, I wouldn't have it uploaded on YT while looking for a job or applying to a PhD programs. The vlog is still there and it is called Economics Extra Credit - Landon Deru (channel). I don't think you can disregard how social media affects employment, etc.Namm wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 12:35 pm I remember in the beginning when Landon had his own channel and promoted himself as a doctor through conversations and advice in the comment section and the picture of him with a stethoscope and "a patient". I remember that they had separate channels but only Julies channel grew bigger so they created a family channel.YTIG60 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 5:38 amI went back to see if his channel was still there, but it has merged into Deru Crew with the exception of a few vlogs from Landon's original channel. I've seen the vlog on his channel. It's not the vlog that I think would ruin it for him. I just felt that he expressed himself very juvenile for his age, having a master degree and I didn't like some of the things he said. 16 year old Shari from 8 passengers expresses herself more mature and academic than him, that was my thought.

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
Teaching hard work ethics to their children seems strange with two parents who upload vlogs three times a week and the most recent vlog was almost seven minutes. The kids should have gloves on when cleaning out animal waste from the chicken coop and I would have made Emma clean off her leg with bird waste. At one time, they were uploading five days a week, Julie became overwhelmed with this schedule since Landon was gone at school, but what is the reasoning why they wouldn't try to increase their vlog weekly uploads numbers now? My other question with Landon not in school, does his student loans start their monthly repayment plan soon? Would this force Julie to go back into nursing?
Landon could have done a better job promoting the company who sent them free chicken feed that was nice of them to do with a link and a better look at the product.

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
I was confused with Julie's challenge and so were her children. While I understand you hope your five year old puts their shoes on when you go out, next time you need to check. Julie seems down or not very happy in this vlog.

That dude needs to get a job. Let’s go on a date to look at beautiful homes we will never be able to afford...because I’m going to be an eternal student. I’d throat punch him if I were her. It sux that they have to drag the baby everywhere with them because she’s so clingy. Julie is going nuts..but there are ways to get out of separation anxiety. Good luck..if you never put her down.

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
Landon's likely has student loan debt will hurt them when buying a new house along with both Julie and Landon's short work history...especially since they are in their thirties. I've never seen a couple who are well educated work so hard at not working a traditional job and Julie, to me, seems unhappy in their small rented duplex with Landon saying they are happy. Life in Kansas was not hard, it is what all of us do with working or earning a degree and Julie quit her job as soon as Landon started working full-time. The problem is all of the work done in med school or with a MBA degree didn't result in a reward = an ability to buy a home. Being realistic, they both should be working.
Also, why pay to see new homes? New developments have models you can go through for free.

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
Sounds like a Griffiths thing to do. I can imagine Jennifer doing that when they lived in a trailer (which btw can you even imagine! With how particular she is about her house now?) And honestly I'm happy for Jennifer and Chad that they were able to build later on. Maybe Julie is holding onto the hope that their life will have the same trajectory. Even ruby and Kevin started out scraping by and then came into a better place.
The common denominator in all those other stories is work though. And Landon doesn't seem to think that's very important...

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
The last thing I would want to do is look at houses I couldn't afford. That would depress me to no end. What was the purpose of that? Imagine how they felt when they went back to their small rental after seeing those beautiful homes? Hey Landon, next time take your wife to dinner and a movie like normal people do on date nights.Catface2 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 9:49 am That dude needs to get a job. Re: Julie Deru: Part One
Did it occur to Julie that the reason their were no personal items displayed was because this was a showcase and hundreds of strangers were going through the houses. Probably not because they display their lives for thousands of strangers. Not sure I would call that a fun date night night either. Hey Hun let’s go look at houses we can’t afford because I am a selfish asshole.

I wouldn't want to put any heirloom items out either! They brought Lucy and other people probably bring kids too-would you want your stuff getting ruined!Ducklings4 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 4:25 am Did it occur to Julie that the reason their were no personal items displayed was because this was a showcase and hundreds of strangers were going through the houses. Landon needs to get a job with the two degrees he has and forget even more schooling! I really don't know how they make it financially! I only watch them when you all start commenting on them-they are just too boring for my taste.

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
Landon's date with Julie appeared to enhance how she is missing out on her home ownership dream. It seemed like Landon had to do some convincing how they were happy and life was harder in Kansas. I don't think Julie has looked very happy in the last couple of vlogs and perhaps her accepting Landon's dream is not sitting too well and the reality of him not starting the PhD program this fall is causing her discontent. Julie also could find a job too and it might be a smart move for numerous reasons.sheltiefan wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 12:07 pm Landon needs to get a job with the two degrees he has and forget even more schooling! Having a wooden plank from a tree house to the roof of a house for the kids to go across is one of the stupidest and unsafe thing I've seen a parent provide for their barefoot school age child's entertainment. I don't know what Landon and Julie are thinking. When your child falls off the roof or this plank, how do you explain this to emergency room doctors and nurses.

At least Emma had sense not to do it. They let Porter do it with no shoes on.YTIG60 wrote:Having a wooden plank from a tree house to the roof of a house for the kids to go across is one of the stupidest and unsafe thing I've seen a parent provide for their barefoot school age child's entertainment.
